So glad Billy's is back!! This Ormond Beach staple recently reopened and we we enjoyed it so much, we dined there twice in one week. Each time I enjoyed the grouper blackened with lemon butter sauce. Amazing. My family also enjoyed the chowder, beet salad, scallop pot pie, lobster roll, and crab cake. Our servers were very attentive and helpful especially since we had a baby with us. Wonderful evening at the newly renovated Billy's Tap Room. It's a pleasure to see this 100 year old legendary place get a face lift and still keep its classic charm. The owner and manager Joe, was attentive , customer focused and extremely warm and welcoming. Our server Kaylin, was also attentive and so much fun! The bus staff and all staff were professional and efficient. My water cup was never empty...Food was delicious and well timed. Showed up at opening 5pm - and ambiance was GREAT. Prices are HIGH - and without sides - i.e. like Filet $41 bucks comes with NO sides - NO SALAD - NO NOTHING. The least expensive RED wine glass option was $12 - and like I said -this was during a NORMAL Happy Hour Time Frame. Everything was good - just too dang much $$ for what was offered. OH - and you get to pay an extra 3% for using your C/C - icing on the cake-lol. BUT - the ambiance is totally good - they just need to work on a few things. read more

This was my first time at Billy's and it was okay, we did make a reservation. I arrived and noticed no parking available had to park across the street at Publix... I was a party of three and 2 people enjoyed fillet mignon with the soup and small sides both enjoyed their meal. I ordered chicken Marsala with a salad and baked potato and green beans and it was good. I do suggest making a reservation, the food for the price is a little steep in my opinion considering the ambiance... I came here with a larger group and I'm glad it was suggested to make reservations. I got the special for the night which was a blackened prime rib. The prime rib was good and cooked well. The sides were just okay, nothing special. I did see the lobster tail being ordered by others and it looked delicious. There wasn't anything amazing or terrible during my visit. Came here for dinner the Friday night after Thanksgiving. We were a party of six. Not small but not super large either. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. That's about where anything good ends. Both the food and the service were terrible. Service was extremely slow and the food came out cold. Must have been sitting around a while for it to be picked up by the server. The soups that were ordered were cold and didn't taste good. I had the 8oz prime rib as my main course. Though it looks good in the picture it was very tough. There was a large line grizzle that ran through it that made it impossible to cut or even chew. The outer rim that is usually the tender and tasty part was dry and tasteless. I didn't even know you could make prime rib that poorly. Would not give them another try. read more

We were visiting with a friend and stumbled across this place which has actually been around since 1939 if memory serves me. Their food is excellent. One person had frog legs as an app, he said perfection, the Caesar salad and house salad were both wonderful. The foccacia bread baskets were also delish and warm out the oven! Our entrees were the prime rib steak my husband proclaimed excellent (he rarely gives above a "very good" lol), the fish and chips, our friend from the UK said were cooked perfectly (atho was steak fries not their kind of chips) and my butterflied fried shrimp were huge, perfect and sooo good. Their tartar sauce also wonderful. Also my mixed vegs which were sliced almost paper thin, comprised of carrots, yellow and zucchini squash and red onions. First time coming here, no idea why it took so long to eat here. We loved it! Great service from making the Rez with the hostess to getting the best table since it was our first time. Great atmosphere and food. You can go on the "sports" side with live music (loud and fun) or the table cloth dining side that is quieter but you can still hear the music. First, we love Billy's. We have eaten here for New Years Eve for several years. The food and service is great. BUT, they have not taken the pandemic seriously at all. We went to dinner for New Year's Eve. NONE of the staff had masks and there was NO attempt to space tables or guests at the bar. We understand that people have different opinions about this pandemic, but we believe that erroring on the side of the safety of your guests is always good. We even understand that eliminating tables is hard and costs money, but asking your staff to mask costs nothing at all. read more

It was a Thursday evening and I was driving from my hotel out to the beach heading to another restaurant when I spotted this place out of the corner of my eye. It's a cute looking pub/restaurant. It reminds me a bit of something you might see in Europe or Russia. It's actually situated in a strip center and there's no real parking for the place. You have to either park in the street past it, park in front of it (there's only three spots) or park in the public parking before it. There are pictures of this establishment, way back in the day when the road out to the beach was a dirt road and there was plenty of parking for it in front of the establishment then. Now, with the wide "modern road", Parking is a little challenging. Upon entering this place, I was delighted to see that every table had a tablecloth, including those in the bar area, which is a nice touch. In about 30 seconds time I actually had two servers and the bartender come over and try to assist me with getting a table! I was seated in the bar area just inside the door, but it turned out to be pretty cool because it gave me a view to the entertainer that was playing that night, Frank. He played 60s and 70s music on an acoustical guitar. He was quite entertaining and very pleasant. My server's name was Denise. For some reason she reminded me of Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. She had a pleasant smile and was very attentive. I had a Crown & Coke to start, which was made quite well, but when I decided to get another one. I asked how much they cost, and I got sticker shock. It was $8.50! I was pretty floored. Considering this was just a small pub/restaurant in Ormond Beach, not Miami or Tampa this price should be adjusted down a couple of dollars. I switched over to a draft, which was 20 ounces and reasonably priced at $5.50. They carried Sam Adams Summer ale when I was there in June. I was served warm focaccia cheese bread with whipped butter, wonderful. It was wrapped in a napkin to keep it warm, another bonus. My place setting even had a salad fork which was also unexpected in this type of place. I found my salad to be a delightful mix of spinach leaves and Romaine. Also included were red onion slices, tasty croutons and a couple of sliced in half, cherry tomatoes. The blue cheese dressing was served and a small metal ramekin on the side. It was Roquefort style and nice and chunky. Unfortunately I would later discover at 3 o'clock in the morning that the spinach must not have been washed real well. I will call the restaurant later when they open and let them know. Dinner was served pretty quickly. I barely had time to check out the Wi-Fi situation, which was limited connectivity at best. I had ordered the grouper supreme, which is listed as Grouper, Crabmeat, Shrimp and Scallops with Fresh Herbs & White Wine in Supreme Sauce. I was told of the grouper was 7 to 8 ounces, but it was really more like 4 to 5. However, with the two large scallops each cut in half, two medium-size shrimp, crabmeat and cream sauce, I filled up rather quickly. The portion of broccoli was small on the plate as well, but it ended up being the perfect size. All the seafood was fresh with no discernible fishy smell. The Cream sauce was sweet and just thick enough. My entrée ran $31. This is slightly over what I would have expected to pay but still within reason. For dessert I chose the bread pudding initially it was then that I'd discovered that the restaurant closes at 9 PM and it was already 9:30 PM. They had already shut the ovens off. I had lost track of time but in no way did I feel rushed by anyone. I ended up ordering the crème brûlée. All desserts are six dollars. The crème brûlée was served and a small ramekin with two dollops of whipped cream and a small slice of strawberries accompanying it on the plate. My ramekin was not filled all the way to the top but given the time I did not complain. Overall, It was tasty but it was not worth six dollars. In summary, I feel I would definitely return to this location again to check out other foods or perhaps one of the other 19 different ways they serve up grouper! If I lived local I would definitely bring a date here as the other side (restaurant) seemed quite romantic. It is also large enough for a couple of large parties as well. If you're looking for a place with great service and a nice atmosphere with fresh seafood you'll want to check this place out, just make sure you ask about pricing. read more

Walked in at 5:00 (first seating). Excited to try this SH with all the great reviews. Hostess said your table is down this hall to your right, so yes we sat ourselves. There were 4 of us for dinner. Went to the worn down, chipped paint, falling apart ladies room. My friend had to fill the toliet paper. Went back to table served water that actually tasted pretty good. Focacia bread very good. Then noticed only staff wearing a mask was the bartender. Servers and hostess no mask, none not even around there necks wth. Friend ordered a coke. Asked for a straw and good thing because his wife looked over and said dont drink this, have you only drank from straw? There were three sets of lipstick imprints on the glass. Hello covid-19. Total gross out. I wanted to run. But no we ordered some starters. Friend ordered scallops $18. He got 3 scallops, it was to be servered over fancy potatoes with a sauce, it came over a bed of wilted field greens. We ordered the button mushrooms they were ok - about 10 fried small mushrooms $8.00. Now we still need to place our order. We read the online menu grouper made 25 different ways, informed no grouper for over a year. We all ordered prime rib, 2 regular 8 ounce, 2 blackened. I think Golden Corral has them beat on prime rib. First the prime rib looked weird, kind of a tan color. Peppered with Parsley to take your eye off the color. My friend looked at me and said this doesn't look right. We cut into it and it was tough to cut, tough to chew, no flavor and this is what $23 buys you a flavorless tan colored piece of meat, with mushy greenbeans, no horseradish, and an overcooked hard baked potato. My boyfriend and I went there because we knew how long they had been open. We figured, they've been open so long, how bad could it be?! Well, now we know! It has a old, dark fish place feel that looks like it's frequented by smelly, dirty boat captains. My boyfriend ordered "fish in a bag"..bad move. Maybe we're inexperienced with fish in bags but the waitress came over with the dish, cut it open and folded it back. It looked like a crispy puff pastry so....we started to eat the bag. IT WAS A PAPER BAG! So, yeah...if you go and you order this...don't eat the bag. Eating paper is nothing though..compared to RAW FISH! My boyfriend didn't realize until a few bites in that the fish covered in creamy sauce was raw. We advised the wait staff and they took it off our bill. We didn't make a reservation, it was pretty busy around 6pm but they accommodated our party of 4. Greeter told us right from the beginning that the kitchen was backed up and said it would be about a 30 min delay. We got sat and ordered drinks and relaxed for about 30mins having a cocktail and amazing bread!! Our server Patrick was amazing! We felt everything came out at the perfect timing, nothing rushed nor delayed. It was a relaxing evening. This is a local joint and noticed from convos that there are a lot of regulars. This is not a tap room in a traditional sense. There are 6 national beers on tap...none you would say are craft beer...though I have a soft spot for Guinness. That said, this is a quality restaurant. Billy's is an Ormond Beach staple and part of history - it has been around for almost 100 years (est. 1922) so that alone should speak for itself. I recommend making a reservation before going. Everything here is superb. The veal marsala is one of the best items on the menu and second I would recommend the Grouper as my personal favorites. For soups - the Clam Chowder will beat some of the best up North, the tomato florentine is a close follow up. Make sure not to fill up on the Bread Basket, which I warn you will be extremely hard to do. If you are in the Ormond or surrounding your area, do yourself a favor and go out for a nice dinner at Billy's, it is unlike anywhere else in the area. read more

Great restaurant! First, the alcohol selection is spot on; from the beers, to the liquor, to the wine. We had a Boudreaux for our dinner. I had the prime rib - awesome! Great cut of meat. Very tender and tasty. One of my colleagues had the grouper and he loved it. The atmosphere is very good and this restaurant has a nice history, which is on the menu. Went with friends and had a wonderful experience. We made reservations for 6 PM and were seated promptly. The drinks were wonderful. I had a dirty martini and the rest of the group had vodka and tonics. Many times you can judge a restaurant by their drinks. This was our first time visiting and we were very happy with the drinks and bread which was very fresh. My husband ordered blackened and prime rib and he said it was very good. I had the petite fillet and that was also very, very good. The service was wonderful and attentive. A little bit of a long drive for us, but worth going back to. Went to Billy's for the first time (after living here for 25 years). I've always heard that it was an incredible place. The food was good, as everyone said it would be. The service was just ok. We had to wait to be acknowledged and brought water. The dust on the shelf next to us was very noticable. The bathroom was very dirty and the faucet was broken and moved when you turned the water on. I have to say, I was not impressed with dinner the way I thought should be. We can definately find better places for the $$$ in Volusia County. I'm sad to say that I was disappointed in our (most likely) one and only visit. I was really hoping for a better experience. This is one of our favorite places. We have been eating there for years and never had a bad meal. Their soups are outstanding. We have a hard time which to chose - clam chowder, Mushroom, French onion or beef broth. Each is better than the other. Their salads are always crisp fresh and their dressings are house made. I often ask for a pint of their house dressing to take home. It is that good. Billy's steaks are first rate; their Prime Rib is outstanding (ask for it seared) their seafood is the best and freshest around. Don't hesitate to try their chef special - Beef Stroganoff, . They have a full bar complete with a decent wine list. My only complaint is I never have room for their desserts. read more
