I'm a newfound fan of Dick's, and this location near VA Center Commons is pretty solid. It's not the largest location you'll find, but the workout apparel selection is more than I could imagine wanting. I recently purchased some attire for a hiking trip in the Grand Canyon, and I was pleased to find some great options here. If you're looking for traditional hiking clothes, the selection is more limited, but for someone who's more into running/yoga wear (like me), then I think you'll be satisfied. I've been back once since my first visit a few weeks back, because I had my eye on more workout clothes. The Under Armour and Nike sections are filled to the brim with bright colors right now; what better way to get your mind into workout mode than by donning uber sunshine-y tanks? If you're looking for help while you're shopping, it may take a few minutes to find someone to help - unless you're near the checkout, in which case there should be plenty of folks to answer your questions. read more

It is a overpriced sports store..it has everything that fishing, camping, and sports can handle...staff seems pretty friendly, it was just and in and out situation for me, we knew what we wanted, got it, and left....eh....same ol, same ol year after year for this store....nothing special read more

This is a really solid store with a wide selection of recreational products and competitive prices. I went this past Sunday for the first time in a couple of years. It was announced that it was the store's "grand reopening" after a major remodel. Well the place looked great! It appears that they have more merchandise than before while managing to still feel spacious and bright. I quickly made my way to the swim section and found a new pair of swim goggles. I perused a bit more and found a great BOGO half off deal on insulated 24 oz Polar water bottles- they had a huge variety of colors/styles. While the store was pretty busy, check out was quick as it was well staffed. read more

Only people that are ever helpful are checkout staff. No one else ever says hi or cares that you ever come by. If they didn't carry a couple things that I want at a cheaper price than other place you would never go there. read more

My boyfriend is running a marathon later this week and so I said I would be happy to grab a few of those gel GU packets for him during my lunch break. Since it was pouring rain, I called the store to make sure they had these GU packets-- and the right flavor-- before heading over there. A kind woman first answered the phone and she said that they had them, then said she would put me on hold while she went to double check on the flavor I had asked about. I was put on a waiting line for about 5 minutes. Then, strangely, it rang again and another woman picked up. I was a bit confused and explained that I already was chatting with someone and that she was looking to see if they had the right kind I was looking for. She then also put me on hold, and what can you guess? The same thing happened once more. I waited for five minutes before it rang a third time and a male employee picked up. I was a bit perturbed this time, asking him please to not put me on hold and just to answer my question. He then told me that he had the right kind I was looking for, took my name, and said they would be at the front to make it easy for me to pick these up. I thanked him for helping me and even let him know the time I was swinging by. I headed over a few hours later, during my lunch break, and walked into the store. Strangely, the fire alarm was going off and all of these white lights were flashing. I was not sure what was happening, but saw people in line and assumed that someone was on it. I waited in line for almost 10 minutes, with the blaring noise in my ears. I was not sure what was happening at the front, but it looked like the machines were not working and no one was able to purchase their items. Once it was my turn, I let them know what was held up front for me and my last name. The woman said that there was nothing up front for me. Then I asked if I could even purchase anything. She explained that the machines were not working at the moment. Then why would you not let the entire line know that the machines were down? After spending time ensuring my items were at the store, and wasting my lunch to drive to the store, I came back empty handed and soaked from the rain. Will not be returning to the store again. read more

Last night I was in the store at 9940 Brook Rd in Glen Allen VA with my wife and daughter shopping for an elliptical. We'd done some research over the past week in an effort to find something that suited our needs(since cardio machines are pretty big purchases) but didn't feel comfortable purchasing online due to the number of questions we had. Regardless of the price tag, we were on a mission and our goal was to purchase from the store that day. We went to the fitness department of the store to see what was available and test a few machines out for comfort. In that time, we were also hoping someone would come by to help us. We spent some time narrowing down our options to two separate machines, then waited. And waited. And waited. In the time that we waited no less than four associates passed by/circled the department, and every last one of them seemed to make it a point to avoid offering help or come within close enough distance for us to ask for help. After about twenty minutes of waiting, an associate who appeared to be on lunch break(given the food in his hands) finally asked if we needed help as he headed towards the back room(presumably to eat.) We said yes, we wanted to buy a machine today but had some questions, then jokingly pointed out that several other associates had passed by and hadn't offered to help. The associate apologized, then said he'd find someone to help us. That was the last we saw of anyone. After another fifteen minutes of waiting, we left. I resigned myself to shopping from the Dicks website, but ultimately gave up when I tried to close out a purchase and ended up stuck with curbside delivery as my only shipping option. I ended up purchasing an E35 elliptical from Sole directly. I've never been in a store that seemed so disinterested in taking my money before. The store wasn't even busy. I would dare say it was dead. We went in there prepared to spend more than a grand on a machine, and no one could be bothered to help us complete that purchase. As if that wasn't enough, the website wouldn't even allow me to change my shipping options to include assembly... something I was also prepared to spend money on and could have included in my purchase had anyone been willing to help me while I was in the store. I don't think I'll be bringing my business back to Dick's. Their poor customer service really narrows my options down to online shopping, and what good is buying machines online if I can't even include some sort of installation in my purchase? Either way, someone should talk to the staff at the Glen Allen store and set the expectations for customer service before they lose another $1500 sale. read more

I grew up going to this Dick's Sporting Goods. When it was first built, it was great and had all of the sports related items that one would need. Until yesterday, I hadn't been here in a long time. I was looking for a gift for someone, either an insulated jacket or a Fitbit tracker. Upon walking in, the store looked the same as I remembered, but once I started looking around, I realized that this store is seriously lacking when it comes to inventory. They didn't have one, single insulated jacket. Not even one! It's almost September! If other stores have Halloween candy out already, then I'm certain that they can have at least one variety of insulated jacket on display! After not finding a jacket, I asked the cashier if they sold fitness trackers. He thought about it for a minute, and then called his co-worker to ask him the same question. The answer was "No". How does a large sporting goods store not sell even one variety of fitness tracker? I walked out of the store in disbelief. Dick's should consider either closing this store. There are several other Dick's locations in the Richmond area that have much better inventory. Stores like this are the reason that people shop online and brick and mortar stores are closing. If I ever need anything from Dick's again, then I will either order online or go to a different location. read more

They have allot of selection and run sales seasonally. The MAJOR downside is the parking. the lot is always full when i want to shop. I keep going to the one by midlo town center since they have plenty of parking. read more

This location lacks severely to its regional competitors in stony point, short pump & chesterfield town center. Customer service is lacking. When the lady attempted to check me out the items were not ringing up correctly with my coupon. She handed the coupon back and stated I should still buy them because it was a "good deal" because they were on sale. I left my items at the register and went straight to stony point walked in to smiling faces and good attitudes, in and out in 15 mins no problems with checking out or using my coupon. Will likely never revisit this location, I'll just drive on down the road to the others. read more

Do not waste your time buying from this company online. I purchased two Carhartt beanies. Everything went smoothly, I got a tracking number and within a week I got an email saying my packaged was delivered. I then checked my mail only to find there was no package. I called the next day to ask for a reshipment and they lady refused. I was told to check my local usps and ups store which was a big waste of time because they couldn't give me any information. I then call again and got a reshipping going. I was told both my beanies were in stock. I woke up to an email confirming the order process of only the one beanie. I got a follow up email stating my other beanie was out of stock when I was already told it was in stock. I immediately asked for a refund and got it within three days. Fast forward to about two weeks and I finally got my beanie but in the wrong color. Do not waste your time with this company online. The people are rude over the phone and they clearly can't get a simple order correct! read more
