I found Public Lands to be a more elevated DSG & loved the store...Very nice displays on the floor! They have a lovely selection of women's, men's, and children's. Being a member comes with good deals - definitely worth signing up. The real gems here are the specialty employees though. Many of the sections have an expert wandering around ready to help answer incredibly specific questions and give recommendations. One such expert was named Clay I believe working in the boot section. He spent a long time with my husband showing him how to size boots differently than shoes, having him test it out on practice terrain, and picking the best fit for activity and price. These are the best fitting boots he's ever had!

After asking for help, positioning myself in a place where I was easily accessible to any sales person, I watched as each salesperson helped another patron around me. It took persistently initiating a dialogue to gain some semblance of help that was quickly discontinued. As a young person of color, I will not be returning to this REI location, but will bring my business elsewhere. Really a same, I've enjoyed REI in the past but this experience has been discouraging.

I asked how long it would take to go back onto my account he snapped at me and rudely said "two seconds" I had to hold myself back. The staff there was extremely courteous, and made my 6 year old daughter feel at home. They were so nice to here, and Oliver the dog is so sweet. They set my daughter up with a great package that's cute and cost effective. I came in a day later and love my set up. They also saved me from buying an overpriced set of goggles that fogs up! What really sticks out though, is when I came in to get my ski-boots refitted. I'm new to this all, but they took great care of me and now my boots fit like a comfortable glove. Ski Haus is awesome. Make an appointment and start an awesome adventure.

We arrived and the rangers at the…read morepark (this is the Cochituate State park site) told us there were high levels of cyanobacteria in the water, and not to get wet and/or to make sure we wash off after. Oh, and there is no hose and the bathrooms had closed at 2 pm. But there is still an $8 parking fee ($30 for out of state!) and the business is renting boats like crazy, with no warnings on the web site or at the boat launch (we had paid in advance).

If you only want to get a Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees hat, this Lids will be just fine. However, if you're looking for any other teams, or a selection of college hats, you're going to be mostly SOL unless you're trying to get a UMASS, BU, or BC hat. The staff is really friendly though and they're patient with you if you're taking forever to decide between a couple hats, but the selection is extremely limited compared to other areas of the country. But if you live in Boston, what are you doing wearing hats of any other team other than the Sox, Bruins, C's, and Pats anyways?

We had a few groupons to get our kayak on, and with the beautiful weather we had this weekend, it…read morewas the perfect time. Nothing better than being on the open ocean with a paddle. Four of us arrived, filled out a simple waiver, and got our life vests and paddles. After not so gracefully plopping into the kayaks, we were on our way. Once we got the hang of it, we were on our way to the closest island. We were hoping to get to Spectacle, (insert snicker here) but I think we would have passed out first, so we made it to land (I think it was Thompson, which may or may not have had No Tresspassing signs on it. Eh, We weren't exploring, just resting up with a nice picnic lunch. I can't wait to go back, after my aching arm muscles stop killing me!~ Next time I might wrapy my thumbs with tape to see if it will prevent the blisters I got.... Highly recommend for a fun day out!
