I normally don't leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be documented, especially after the manager told me that writing a review "wouldn't make a difference." I came in to exchange a pair of FootJoy golf shoes I bought here one week ago. I didn't have my receipt on me, so the associate scanned the shoes to look up the "lowest selling price." Their system came back with $19 for shoes I paid $110 for days earlier. When I asked how that number made any sense, no one could explain it. No price history, no verification, no transparency just "that's what the system says." I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable, just a fair exchange based on the actual purchase price. The part that pushed me to write this review was the manager's response. Instead of helping or even acknowledging the issue, he told me that leaving a review "wouldn't make a difference." That's not just dismissive, it's unprofessional. He said he wouldn't even consider making an exception because I had dropped the F-Bomb in reference to their insane store policy and ridiculous lowball valuation. He also demanded that I apologize to the associate for using the F word. For the record, I found my receipt and will be returning the shoes properly. But the principle matters. If their system is generating inaccurate "lowest selling prices," that affects more than just me. I'll be filing formal complaints with the appropriate agencies so this doesn't get brushed aside. I'm sharing this so other customers know what to expect if they try to make an even exchange without a receipt. A $110 purchase shouldn't magically turn into $19 because a system says so and a manager shouldn't act like customer feedback is meaningless. read more

It was time for a new pair of Brooks. Brooks have been my go to shoes for comfort. Lately I have had a mean flair up of plantar fasciitis and my old pair of Brook's finally bit the dust last weekend when the mesh developed an obvious hole on the side. Dick's sold the pair I wanted for $164.99 and the official Brook's website charged $165. So they are competitive with their prices. They only have one shoe of each style on display so you grab the shoe you want to try on and either walk up the the small kiosk in the shoe department that has a button on the screen that says "I am ready" or the salesclerks also walk up and ask if you need help. This morning I had a young man ask me if I needed help. I showed him the 3 pairs I was interested in and he went to retrieve them from in the back. He handed me the boxes and left me to try on my shoes. It was nice to not have him hovering over me. I then decided on one pair and went to the cashier to check out. The store was clean and I didn't really look around the store as all dick's are similar in layout. But they did seem to have a lot of running shoes to choose from even some brands I have not heard of. read more

He was so attentive and explained thoroughly how to best choose the right clubs. We ended up buying a set with a bag and all and our kid LOVES it! AGAIN! I am very disappointed with the lack of restocking in your fishing section. Each time I visit, the shelves are empty or missing essential items such as lures, fishing line, and basic gear. It is frustrating to make repeated trips only to find the same issue. As a loyal customer who regularly shops for fishing supplies, I feel this neglect shows a lack of consideration for customers' needs. If this section is not restocked more consistently, I will be forced to take my business elsewhere. They don't add any new rods or reels made for bigger baits or anything. VERY BAD WORK. read more

A pleasant surprise that we found what we were looking for. Our friend searched for a backpack for camping. Since we shopped at the Nordstrom Rack anyway, we walked along the strip mall to Dick's. Everyone was busy restocking, but when asked, did point in the direction of the camping equipment hidden behind the fishing poles in this vast store. I finally figured out each corner contained bicycles, or golf stuff, or camping gear while the center of the store was sporty clothing and shoes. Items were not well marked, and we never did find women's socks, but we did find the backpacks, and they were half-off, so our friend was happy. Prices seemed high compared to Big 5, and service was efficient but not friendly. I prefer REI. read more

When I'm in the area I will stop in here to see what, if any, Dodgers merchandise they have in stock. I didn't buy anything this most recent visit but I do like the variety they carry. This location is in the Esplanade Mall right near Cost Plus World Market and it's a very large store. I can spend hours in here if I'm not careful with my time. Retail/Customer service (such as it is) has changed so much over the years. I understand the employees are instructed to "greet" each customer as they enter, but to me, that doesn't mean yelling at me as soon as I set foot inside. The personal touch isn't displayed here. I am much more apt to purchase something if (pre- "the covid" times) employee comes up to me to greet me. Yelling at me from across the store is a turn-off. This location carries a ton of Hydroflasks and I usually go down that aisle to see if they have any new colors or exclusive ones. I do recommend this location overall. If you need something specific I would probably try a smaller/different biz though. read more

This store is super unorganized and the management is terrible. I went in to buy my son a new bike for his birthday when I noticed energy drink bottles everywhere. It looked so trashy as they were hidden behind things. I also had no service I waited for 15-20 minutes on a slow day. And when they helped me seemed disgruntled and I felt as if I was inconveniencing them. They literally would not shut up about the protection plan. read more

Went in today to buy baseball cleats for my son and my husband asked the employee to get him a 7 1/2 in men's size. Well, we get to the register and the cashier Jose read back the size to us and that's when we realized the size was incorrect, it was a women's size 7 1/2 , he was apologetic and right away got ahold of the another employee to locate the size. Shout to JAMAR in the bike section. I went in today to buy a bike. JAMAR was extremely patient, helpful and knowledgeable. He even inspected my bike before I took it home. I had to exchange the first bike because after 5 minutes of riding it once I got home I knew it was too small for me. I went back to DICKS and the entire staff was super understanding and let me exchange my bike for a bigger frame. Shout out to DICKS and JAMAR for making my experience smooth. I came in to look at women's mountain bikes and the only person able to help me in store was the golf associate. He had no knowledge of bikes at all and seems flustered that I had asked him to pull down the one mountain bike they had hanging from the ceiling as I had questions regarding sizing before ordering since the bike color I wanted was not in the store. They only had a size small and I wasn't sure if I needed a small or medium as I was right on the edge of the two sizes per the sizing chart. I had to blindly order the medium size bike hoping the size was ok. It took several attempts plus a manager to get my order placed. Upon recieving my order at my home, I called dick's and I was told that no associate was able to take my bike in for the build. I brought it in the following day when someone was suppose to be in to handle it and was then told it would be done the next day upon signing the build paperwork. I never received a call that following day so I called on the second day and spoke to the manager Sarah and was told it had not been touched. I told them I was expecting it the previous day as quoted by the associate Chris N., so they said they would have to get someone to come in to build it and then was called 30 mins later saying it was ready. (That was quick as they had no bike builder there at the time I spoke with the manager). We picked up the bike, to find out that another golf area associate had assembled it. We get it home and notice the front forks were on backwards and the front brake was on the wrong side since they had put the handle bars on the wrong way and it messed up the whole way they set it up. We called and had to bring the bike back in and the same employee that messed it up attempted another go at it. He was able to correct it. The only thing I am able to say that's good about that store is that the golf guy that assembled the bike was very friendly and apologetic for the error in build. I do not blame him as he does not work that department and did the best he could upon the managers request. My overall experience is way below satisfactory. Had I been able to return the bike, I would have (because it's slightly too big, which is not surprising with only 1 women's mountain bike on the floor to sample or purchase) but was told once it leaves the store it's not returnable..... never again! I bought the GT women's Laguna Pro Mountain Bike in Green Incase anyone was wondering. The seat is very uncomfortable but the bike looks nice and rides fine. read more

Was in the area and decided to stop in and shop their ammo prices. Prices were high as expected but saw a rifle that caught my eye. I pressed the button and waited for help and after 10 minutes someone finally showed up. I asked if I could see a rifle and he said he needed to call for someone as he didn't work in that department. After waiting longer he said the only person was at lunch and wouldn't be back for 20 minutes. Really there is only one person in the store that can work the gun department. I asked if he could at least go behind the counter and confirm the caliber. He said he was not allowed behind the counter and I could come back. What a joke. Good luck selling any guns or ammo with this kind of service. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was in Europe recently and got notification on my phone that someone bought a $400 ping golf club on my account and picked it up at the thousand oaks store. I immediately canceled my credit card upon returning home. I notified the store as I was extremely disappointed that they emailed me from Dick's asking me how my service was when I picked up my golf club. Obviously, no one checked the ID to verify who was picking up the golf club that or check the credit card as obviously they didn't have a physical credit card so there was no proof as to who that person was. Upon emailing, the store the manager of the store emailed me back, requesting me to file a police report, for me to look up what the transaction number was when I had nothing to do with anything, and they were expecting me to do their foot work. This company is ridiculous and the Thousand Oaks store manager should be fired. read more

We loved shopping here today. Despite the bad reviews, we went here because they were out of the cleats we needed pretty much everywhere else. They were great on the phone. In person, the store was clean, had a great selection and Joel in footwear was absolutely charming and got us just what we needed. Fishing section was excellent. Surf/beach clothing also great choices. I don't get all these bad reviews. New management? We can't wait to drive down here again to shop some more! read more

Very unorganized store. I was looking for particular Nike shoes and their dickssportinggood website showed the Oxnard location had them in stock. Upon arrival I was not able to find them and the employees had no idea either. They double and triple checked and it showed in their system that the shoes were available in stock at their store but they had no clue where to look for them. I was told that they'd check again and let me know the following day. Obviously, I didn't get a call or any sort of a notification from them so I decided to drive up there again. When I arrived the second time, the staff told me they didn't have them after all. Keep in mind that the website still shows that these shoes are in stock and available for pick up. I gave up on the shoes I was looking for and decided to find another pair of shoes. Found Nike lunarglides that I liked and it was my exact size , but again because of how the store is unorganized the second pair of those shoes was nowhere to be found. They only had the display version but the second shoe and its box was misplaced somewhere else. Absolutely unacceptable! They offered to ship them out to me but I said don't bother. Found them on eBay for $35 less and received the next day. I won't be stepping foot in Dicks store ever again. They wasted my time. Would give ZERO stars if I could. read more

We could not find a matching shoe because someone had swapped out sizes in a box but he was determined to find it. Even though he never found it. He ended up giving us a discount on the other pair we did buy. I wish I could remember his name because he was terrific. We will go back here every time! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! My husband ordered a ping pong table on 4/3/19. It took two days to arrive, which was great. However, we ordered one of their more expensive ones, and they sent us the wrong one, which was the cheapest version. We opened the box and immediately called to let them know we received the wrong one, and the associate that helped us was very nice, promising a discount for the trouble, plus free shipping and free pick up/return. We were transferred to another department that handles these issues and they had no idea what was going on. Now, a blind transfer, after all these plans and promises were made, doesn't seem like the best policy. It is now 4/22/19, we still have the wrong table in our garage, we have called and emailed more times than I can count. the first time we called to check on our replacement, were told we wouldn't be getting free shipping, we should bring the table back to our local store ourselves (which would require us to rent a truck) and that, as of today, there is NO request for pick up of the wrong item, and the cherry on top, they DON'T KNOW where our replacement table is. That's right...they LOST OUR TABLE. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, Horrible customer service and management, minus the first associate who we spoke to. read more
