It's been a tough year for big box sporting good retailers. With much hype and anticipation TO finally gets it's own Dick's Sporting Goods located in the outdoor mall of the Oaks. Gone is the back parking lot behind Lazy Dog but it's replaced with a tall ceiling store full of the latest in hard and soft goods. It's good to see Dick's offer golf equipment along with regripping clubs. There's a decent assortment of fitness equipment, baseball and camping gear to suite most customer's needs. The shoe department probably has the largest spaced dedicated to it though besides the racks and rack of clothing in the middle of the store. I do like the two entrances to the building, one from the parking lot the other from the interior of the mall. Being it was opening weekend there were a lot of sales associates ready to assist customers. It will be interesting to see how well Dick's does after the initial shine wears off. I have high hopes though as the location is convenient and there isn't much in the way of competition in TO. read more

This is the second time I've tried to return something and they have a horrible policy. Very disrespectful on the phone and in person. I heard rumors that they had bad customer service and today proved it was right. I used to shop there all the time but I will now find other means to find good sports gear. read more

Super disappointed in this store and the gentleman working the golf section. Found a pair of golf shoes marked 35.97 only to have them ring up at 79.99. When I asked about it I was told the lower price was for the junior sizes but the only ones under the display were women's sizes. I was then told they would not honor the price even though they were clearly displayed with the lower price. I definitely think this is false and misleading. Instead of purchasing the shoes and several items of clothing I walked away with nothing. I am not going to give them my money if they cannot so the right thing...either sell the shoes for the marked price or change your display. read more

Great selection, good prices and a friendly/helpful staff! While I have to admit most of my experience is with the golf and fishing departments, I have had good experiences throughout the store. With the closing of Sports Chalet and Sports Authority Dick's is the only full size, full selection sporting goods store chain left... Price Match... Sike! I was looking on their website for price match policy and it NEVER mentioned that they only match the price within the vicinity of their store and not online. I went there to purchase a bolt action rifle that I wanted them to price match and order for me. Unfortunately, their sales guy derailed me by telling me that they only price match within the vicinity and they have to be in stock. As far as ordering, he said that they CAN ONLY order what they have at their dealer. From what I read online, they guarantee price match in qualifying stores or websites that are listed on their website and that they can order ANY firearms. FIELD & STREAMS need to train DICKS SPORTING GOODS on how to follow company policy. read more

I was standing in line waiting my turn and I noticed a worker named Larissa and a women having a nice conversation, laughing and smiling. i couldn't help but notice that once it was my turn her demeanor changed, as if she was annoyed, had a attitude, and when finished she swiftly dismissed us with have a "have a nice day" and turned her back to fold clothes. The only reason this rating is a 2 out of 5 is because we had the pleasure of meeting Carl, who was happy to help us with whatever we needed. read more

If you want a way to kill time this is it. I ordered something online and it was the wrong size so I thought I would try and exchange it here. They have employees wandering aimlessly around the floor, but I took it upfront and they told me to wait for someone which took over 10 minutes, then the girl looked all over everywhere I had looked and I finally asked "can you just scan to look." There was none in the store, which is fine but the first employee could have just scanned it and saved me time. Also, for the 30 minutes I was there they always had a line of no less than 10 people and one cashier. I wouldn't' bother going there. read more

Came into Dick's Sporting Goods to utilize a gift card that was given to me. I purchased a kayak paddle that was marked on sale however when it rang up it came up at the retail regular price. The department head acknowledge that it had a sale marked Price however the sales person helped 10 more customers before he a adjusted my charge. I asked him why did I have to wait? I was obviously before them. He hd no explanation. Just said I'm sorry. Also the department head who's there it made no attempt to correct it Timely. He also continued to help other customers that came came after. I asked for a store manager, he said will talk to them. I waited a total of 30 minutes. Not my idea of quality customer service. After spending my gift card I don't think I will be shopping here anymore. First time last time disappointed customer read more

Bigger isn't always better... I drove about 15 miles to this location and had three things on my list. None of which were in stock! When I was able to find something there was no one around to tell me what the price was so I had to wait in line only to find out that it was $20 more for the exact same item on Amazon! I believe and shopping locally and if it was just a few dollars more I would've paid it, but not $20! They need to have more floor staff, better inventory, and a wider selection of sizes. My son and his friend went to Dicks on Black Friday to buy some things they needed. Shortly after they started shopping they noticed that they were being followed around the store by an employee. My son picked up a couple packs of socks and was looking at other items but it got so obnoxious that he was being followed and they were watching his every move that he set the things down and walked up to the front. As soon as he sat down the packs of socks, the guy that was following them went into the back room. My son spoke to the guy upfront and let him know how uncomfortable it was being followed around the store when all he was trying to do was buy a couple packs of socks. My son noticed that he was the only one being followed. Just so happens that my son is black. He didn't wanna make it about race but it was hard not to. I have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars at this place because I have two sons that are athletes. It breaks my heart that my son felt so uncomfortable just trying to buy socks that he'll never shop there again and neither will I. Shame on you. read more

My wife and I got to stop into this new Dick's location about 30 minutes before closing. The store is big! Lots of space with a superior selection of items to our local Dick's store in Moorpark. The staff were all extremely courteous and helpful and their selection of firearms and clothing items was very good. Like other Dick's stores, the quality of some merchandise isn't quite on par with high-end stores like REI. If you're looking for run-of-the-mill camp fuel, lanterns and supplies - that's fine. However for high-quality gear for the serious outdoorsman, you'll want to skip Dick's and go straight to REI, Bass Pro Shop or Cabella's. Their tents, bags, survival gear, line, boots, etc... were inadequate and they carried no climbing gear at all. The only other disappointment at this new location was the lack of organization in the facility. I was simply looking for men's 60/40 shells (jackets) and kept running into women's wear and other items instead. Perhaps one clearly marked area for "men" and another for "women" would be a better idea? read more

Lauren at the cash desk is lazy and spews out incorrect information. She charged me full price for an item that was supposed to be discounted. When asked about the discounted price, she and another girl at the cash desk made me feel like I didn't know what the hell I was talking about. Rather than check, she asked if I still wanted it. Of course I still wanted it! So I ended up paying full price all because this dumbass couldn't be bothered to check! Mind you, the whole section had signs saying shit was 25% off. When I pointed that out...Lauren and her other genius coworker stated it only pertained to the products the sign was placed above. Again, misinformation! They had no idea what they're were talking about and I regret not telling them to ask someone else or checking online for myself. My mistake. Don't trust these sales associates for information. Most times, they're too lazy to bother helping and would rather just take the easy way out. Lauren, I hope your job there is seasonal...go get some damn training ffs. read more

I went here to get my daughter a bike the store is awesome always have what I need. If I would've just bought the bike and left it would've been a fun experience. Before grabbing the bike the manager how did your inspection on the bike seem legit this guy look like he hated life. He was just kind a rude maybe he was having a rough day made buying a bike for my daughters birthday lame. I called regarding a price match - spoke to Sophia (manager), I told her I found a less expensive match, I told her I thought it might be Amazon - she said, "as long as it's not a third party retailer- you're fine". I went in present the website (not a third party but not Amazon). After discussing this with the "Help", she called a manger - not Sophia - the manger said we don't do price match with that company, she called Sophia - I explained that she said no "Third party" but that this was a direct buy. Today I went to the store to return some shoes and buy another pair. I was sent an email that gave me $20 to use at dicks sporting goods with a code. The person checking me out did not know how to do the code but she would not get somebody else. I asked for a manager and she just looked at me. I called another checker who was able to do it. I needed to get some pop-up goals for soccer. I looked on the Dick's website, and they had Primed 3'x2' pop up goals for $19.99, IN STOCK in their Thousand Oaks store. They offered AYSO 20% off (in store only) so I thought, "hey that's a good deal, 2 goals for $32." I get to the store, find the goals, there is no price on them, but that's okay because I know they are $19.99 from the website. I get to the checkout and the guy says they're $29.99. I say "no sir that can't be correct, they're $19.99." I pull it up on my phone to show him that his cash register is wrong and it just says "out of stock" and no price is listed. I'm not paying $60 for 2 tiny goals so I leave the goals there, take a screenshot of my phone so that I can be sure I'm looking at the same product, go home and look at the website again and sure enough, $19.99 in stock in Thousand Oaks. So they must know you're in the store based on the location of your phone, and they LIE to you and say they're out of stock so you cannot see the much cheaper online price. They are luring the AYSO families in with their 20% off coupon, but increasing the prices in store by FIFTY PERCENT. Really uncool. They're trying to make it seem like they're supporting local youth soccer, but really they are just ripping us off. I believe in supporting brick and mortar retail over online retailers, but when they pull crap like this, forget it. I'll just buy it on amazon like everybody else. read more

6:30 on Tuesday 6/5. I want to try on a bathing suit. No help to be found on the sales floor. After pushing their call button to open the dressing room, I waited and waited. 15 minutes pass before I can find someone. I knew I was going to need other sizes if I decided to buy, I asked him if the store could locate or order for me. He said "yes" ask upfront. I decide I want the items so I wait in the customer service area for another 15 minutes only to be told I have to go to the golf counter to order. Took forever, he said the computers were slow etc etc. I was originally told if I place an order the arrival time is 3-5 days he gives me an estimate of 2 weeks and blames it on fathers day. If I want it any sooner than that I have to pay $15. He says he thinks I shouldn't have to pay that but after calling the manager he says "theres no code for that I can't do anything about it" I was not happy to say the least. At this point I stupidly have 2 other items I want to purchase. Well as you would expect from this unprofessional, poorly run store he CANT ring them up and I have to go back and wait in the line again. Not enough cashiers, everyone had a "problem". waited 20 minutes in line. I had asked 20 minutes prior to speak with the manager, so now a total of 40 minutes later I asked again. Im told there is only 1 manager and he's "busy". Will never shop here again and mark my words this establishment will be the next for the "STORE CLOSING SIGN" People aren't going to put up with this for too long. read more

I will just say that I had a terrible experience trying to buy ammo at this store. The gentleman who claims to know everything, actually misled and misinformed me. He did this twice on two separate occasions. On this most recent occasion he gave me attitude, raised his voice, acted frustrated and stepped towards me twice while delivering his speech. I told the gentleman that I have the right to be frustrated as a customer. I also told him that he had no right to treat a customer like this as he's in customer service. Last time in with same gentlemen, he didn't charge me the $1 background check so I thought it was free check. This time he tried to charge me the $1. On principal and for consistency, I refused. It's just $1 yes, but it's not right to not charge the time before which was only a few days ago. Then charge me without even telling me that there will be a charge. He got his manager and his manager had zero empathy for the customer, me. Not only did this happen but this same gentleman gave me the wrong information about how to purchase ammo. Not only did he do this but he also didn't give me the option of paying the $19 background check in store to buy ammo at his location. Needless to say they lost a lot of business over $1. I highly recommend to not use this location as they are poorly informed and have no care for their customers. The manager kept badgering me about paying the $1. He asked me many times. Then he wanted a date and time so he could roll back camera footage of me and the employee to verify that I didn't pay for the background check the time before. The manager had no empathy and shouldn't be in customer relations. I think the clerks name was Eric, he has a beard and tattoos. The managers name I don't have but avoid this store at all costs. Give your business to people who want to earn your business. To people who care about your business. At one point Eric said that he "always" does the right protocol with his questions regarding the ammo so it couldn't be him. I then asked him if he's perfect and he replied no. I said then isn't it possible that you made a mistake or misled me?? After all he's supposed to charge $1 for the background check, which he didn't do that the first time. Just be consistent and don't harass people for money that they don't owe. Be up front about costs, for example, say that they can run the check but it's $1. I didn't even need the $1 background check. I needed the $19 one but Eric didn't figure that out, even with all the right answers given to him by me. This is the problem with a monopoly - when it's the main place to go and the staff know it the customer service goes down. Staff non attentive and been here a few times - Dorn have as much inventory as you would think - and every time hard to find help to answer questions. Buy something on line, pay with PayPal (safer than a credit card), return to store instead of shipping it back, and get...a gift card instead of original payment form credited? Having an athletic family involved in all sports, this location is super convenient and has everything we need. The store is well maintained and clean, that's one of my biggest pet peeves. Be sure to always check out the middle sales racks for great items. read more

My wife and I were at the Oaks Mall and decided to stop in. She said that this was the biggest Dick she has ever seen. I disagreed. We were both surprised with Dicks variety. They had gloves in every size but I couldn't find a brand I liked. She wanted the protection, so I settled on a glove. The workers were very helpful in suggesting the best techniques to breaking in the glove. It was over quick. We were both satisfied. read more

Great place to find the best athletic shoes, always almost having a sale. Super helpful sales workers at the show department. Only bad thing is there's ANTS all over the candy and snack aisle in the check out line, yes ants in the food, so I don't know how clean that is. But in all a pretty good experience. read more
