Yelp 100 Challenge 39 Located in the Whole Foods strip mall, it's easy to miss this little store front. What is inside though is an amazing selection of swim suits, hats, goggles and everything else one might desire for swimming. I remembered this store existed years ago when our children swam competitively. The current owners have owned this place for the last 10 years. From the pics on the wall, they do a lot of swim team sales and I'm told internet sales as well. Came in to pick up a swim cap and was greeted by the friendliest owner. She was patient, answered my questions and even gave me a sample of body lotion as well as antichlorine shampoo. And I was lucky as I found a hot pink swim cap! My son and daughter's swim team unfortunately used Conejo Swimworks as their vendor. What a mistake! I ordered $166 worth of team swimsuits and personalized swim caps on 6/2/21. It is now 9/12 and I have yet to receive them. Every time I call in, the person who answers the phone says she'll get back to me but she never does. I have written emails but no response has been received. What kind of customer service is this? I have recommended to our swim team that they no longer use this company. Do yourself a favor and don't order anything from them. There are plenty of other swim gear retailers out there who put their customers first. read more

My child's swim team uses Conejo for team suits each year. We ordered our suit and they sent the wrong suit (for a boy and not a girl). I mailed the wrong suit back to them and spent several months trying to get them to give us the correct suit that they were paid for. I finally asked for a refund which they agreed to provide but have refused to do so. My daughter had to go without a team suit this year and Conejo was happy to pocket the money. read more

Communicated with couple other people through email. Left voicemails. Still no refund nor merchandise. Now it is March 2022. We have had a similar problem to Caroline V's review. Last swim season Yvette, the owner of Conejo, came out and outfitted our team and did such a wonderful job that I pushed to use her services again this year. I am so sorry I did. She sent her husband to do the fitting this time. Although he was very pleasant, he indicated everything was fine. We found out weeks later that there was a minimum order quantity and we fell short - this just a few days before our first meet and after repeated emails and calls. Then they tried to say there was a missing size on an order form that held up production, but no one ever reached out to say there was a problem or ask for the missing size. Yvette ignored most of the emails I sent her and every call I placed was answered by someone at the store who said they would speak to her about a could be done and get back to me, but no one ever diid. At one point, I asked for our order forms back so we could go elsewhere for all of the gear Conejo would not provide because of the minimum-order quantity, but could not even get those. Our suits finally showed up in a box from another vendor with no order forms included, so we have no idea what belongs to which swimmer. To make matters even worse, it now appears Conejo has decided to keep all of the money our swim parents paid for items Conejo wouldn't provide (swim backpacks, t-shirts, warm-up suits) because we fell short of the minimum order - no refunds have been issued at all, no checks returned. Our parents have been calling and asking for refunds, told someone will get back to them, it no one ever does. They have essentially stolen money from our team and again, promised to return calls, but haven't. The situation is so bad that I've had to get the supplier involved and she feels so bad about how badly things have been handled that she is trying to rectify the situation which is sad because she really had nothing to do with it. I'm sad to say no one should do business with Conejo. The provide no information, have no customer service, no follow-through. Do your team a service and take your business elsewhere. read more

We had a short window because we learned we were having a season only a few weeks before our season was to start. Yvette took GREAT care of us, and despite our short turn around time requested, she even managed to have our suits delivered AHEAD of schedule!! And everything was as ordered. They measured my daughter's club team for suits in September. But, the order window didn't close until November 1. Meaning they didn't even start the order until November 1. My daughter's suit allegedly was on back order. No one told me until I emailed and emailed and emailed, begging for a response! Finally after getting the team president involved, magically the suit appeared in the store on 1/28. I was told I would get it by 2/12. As of 2/12 - the website says that the suit hasn't shipped yet. First of all I would like to say that I am in the customer care business ; so I have high expectations. My first experience with Conejo Swimworks ; I was referred to them for our coaches personalized parkas. I gotta tell you Yvette & Penny took my order; were very responsive and detailed oriented in making sure the information was correct and they were done in a timely manner; specially since it was just before the holidays. My second experience with Yvette ( the owner ) and Penny was today. I needed to get fitted for my first Knee Skin Tec suit . Well I talked to Yvette on the phone and Monday's are my only day off in the week.... Which is her only day off as well. Yet she agreed to meet me there later in early evening to get me fitted for my first suit. I got there early , yet they work very well as a team. Penny got my measurements to get me started till Yvette could get there. I could tell Yvette has full trust in Penny.... And when I met Yvette I could tell she knew her stuff. Another girl was getting fitted at the same time as me; yet they both gave us equal attention. I'm new to this and they both really made me feel comfortable. If you ever put on a Tec suit; you know it's not easy. They both were extremely patient with me; telling me the proper way how to put on suit and how not to ruin or rush it. Now when I say patient ..... Let's say that this process took over 1 hour and 40 minutes ( we chatted in between breaks ) and Both Yvette & Penny never got stressed out. They would tell me to take my time; do not rush; they wanted things right. I appreciate all the personal time and care they took with me. Honestly I almost bought the same suit from Amazon... Yet I see how that would have been a huge mistake! There is no way I would have known what to do or get the expertise that I got at Conejo Swimworks. Thank you ! I had a similar experience as Lee K. Ordered a custom parka, and they never contacted us that it had arrived. My daughter's friend saw it hanging in the shop and told us. It had been there for 3 weeks---through the coldest part of the season! The clerk was clueless about the parka situation, we had to find it for him. He also couldn't answer a goggle question I had while in the shop. No reason to go to a specialty shop if there is no service and no knowledge. Now I just have things embroidered myself at a different shop, and buy swim gear elsewhere. read more

Really bad customer service!! I special ordered a swim parka for my college swimmer on 11/10/15. Owners said to expect order to be shipped in 8-10 weeks. On week 13 (2/5/16) I called to inquire about my order and spoke with Yvette who was quite short, saying she'd check on it and call me back on 2/8/16. No call!! On 2/11/ I called once again to inquire. This time I spoke with the other owner Penny who said "Yvette is so sorry, but the order was messed up". I asked why Yvette didn't call me herself to tell me and apologize? Penny apologized. I got a refund. I agree with other bad review (Lee K. back in 2013): "Crazy way to do business". I can hardly give this store even one star. I purchased a Speedo swim bag for my daughter at this shop. Abut one month after I purchased the bag, the teeth in the zipper started to fall out. I brought it back to the store's booth at a local swim meet where the owner told me that she would send the bag back to Speedo because, on this particular model, they had been getting a lot of complaints about this defective zipper. She said she would call me as soon as Speedo told her what to do. We waited a few weeks but got no call. I started calling the shop and speaking with whatever sales person answered the phone only to be told that they would ask the owner about when we would get a replacement bag. They always said they would call me back but NEVER did. I called several times, left several messages on their machine, my daughter even went down to swim meet that they had a booth (the person working the booth didn't know about the issue so was not able to resolve it for us) and ultimately, a year later they took our original speedo bag, and have never issues a replacement and have never called us back. Before this issue, our entire team ordered warm ups from this store. They were supposed to call when the warm up orders arrived. They never called, my daughter received her warm ups two months later than expected and they were found sitting in their back stock room. The sales person didn't even know they were there until I asked him to look. Seems like a crazy way to do business. The prices are nothing to speak of, their service is terrible - I sticking with Swimoutlet. read more
