Sausage breakfast burrito from Diego's Mexican food in Oceanside

BEST BREAKFAST BURRITO!! The "Everything" burrito was SO good and huge for $15. Definitely a great local breakfast burrito place. Service was good and friendly staff. It was very clean and open inside.

Dont know why there's bad reviews on this place. the staff are friendly and are patient with you. got greeted as soon as I stepped up to register and the food tastes pretty good. it's a nice little shop with its own decorations with culture and I approve!

The employees here are so nice, but the food is way too spicy. My wife is Mexican (born and raised in México) and likes spice, but we both agreed the food was too spicy without flavor. We were so disappointed. I don't understand how both of our meals literally had no flavor.

3 ROLLED TACOS with cheese and guacamole -- not great but good enough to satisfy a craving
    Scott T.

a rolled taco craving grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go. now that Cessy's and Alberto's (and the venerated Baker's Tacos) have locked their doors, it's hard to find good rolled tacos in the old neighborhood. was picking up my Tundra in Oceanside (now that Dave's Auto relocated from Carlsbad and got rechristened A Better Auto Repair) and happened to see Diego's Mexican Food. was too full to stop then but Yelped 'em when I got home. lots of positive Yelp reviews and the photos looked enticing, so next time I was over that way (liar: I made a special trip because by then the craving was screaming for satisfaction and verging on keeping me up nights), I hit the drive-thru. not the best rolled tacos I've ever had but the cheese and guacamole were generous and the tacos hot out of the fryer.

Been here a couple of times now and wanted to give this place the benefit of doubt. Food is pretty average for what it is; carnitas we're cooked decently and the breakfast burrito is actually really solid. In the past we've gotten rolled tacos and California burritos- pretty standard and hits the spot. However, the guacamole is thin and almost watery- so certain aspects can be a miss for sure. Food itself is closer to a 3-star rating. The reason for the 1-star is frankly the customer service. The cashier seemed miserable and irritable when we went in this morning for breakfast. She seemed annoyed when we asked for an extra side of rice and was overall unpleasant while we ordered. We've had her before and she had been rude when we simply asked where the bathroom was. While we were waiting for our food she was also playing on her phone with the volume so loud it could be heard over the restaurant speakers. When it was time to grab our food to take to-go she had handed us a platter with all our food on top of a to-go bag. Our friend who had a burrito to go had his food bagged when she handed it to him. I've never had to go food not handed to us already packed; that's why it's to-go. I'm not sure if she's just had a bad day but it's pretty hard to give the benefit of doubt when we've consistently had terrible costumer service. At this point the food isn't worth it. We've officially decided this was our last visit.

Thank you for the best shrimp burrito in town!! There are a lot of choices when it comes to Mexican food here in Oceanside. But Diego's is by far my favorite! My husband likes the carnitas, it's not too greasy, and the taquitos. But I am all about their massive and delicious shrimp burrito. Drive thru is quick, efficient and never one mistake on my order! Support local Oceanside businesses!!

Nachos supreme.... $17!!!!! Have never paid that much for nachos since now. But it wasn't too bad, hit the spot.

To be honest it's not going to be the best Mexican food you have ever had, but it does hit the spot and I have no complaints other than that they are pricey. Their menu online is waaayyyy off lol

Outside Diego's. Take out. Outdoor patio.

I went to the location at approximately 2:50 am on 6 August and they were closed. I no longer think they are 24 hours. Can anyone nearby please verify their hours?

They are not open 24 hours even though they have a huge sign outside that says they are. They are either to lazy to change/remove it or don't care that they are lying to people.

They have the best molcajete and fajitas around, at the best prices. We are here just to see if Cocina Del Mar is better. Long story short: it's not. However, their ceviche is AMAZING. Best ceviche I have had in north county San Diego outside of Dija Mara (which has the best ceviche in the known universe). It is extremely fresh and not overpowered by acidity, fishy smells or rubbery shrimp. The ceviche here is legit. Great. AND ONLY $10 (for cameron). If you order anything here, get the ceviche first. I'm anxious to try their aguachile now. We also ordered the fajitas ("suprema" with chicken, steak and shrimp). Fajitas did not come out sizzling at all. I have never seen this before. Also, there were only two shrimp. The steak/carne was bland and dry. Not great. Wife ordered the Sopes (3) and mother ordered the Enchiladas Cameron. The sopes were okay, but a bit bland. Wife had to salt everything on the plate. The enchiladas had a sauce my mom said was too sweet. She wasn't a fan. For all three dishes to be a miss is completely strange considering the sheer number of 5-star reviews. I want to believe. We must have come on an off-day, but the place was busy. Quite a few larger parties were here, so this place is popular with the natives. We also grabbed a Model and a Corona. Only $5 for the beers! Total for everything came to $117.64 (with tip). I would absolutely come back for the ceviche and to give them another shot by trying a different dish. I snapped pics of the menu so you can see the latest prices. Check it out.

It's a true family-style operation--one owner personally takes your order while the other is in the kitchen cooking everything fresh, and you can taste that attention to detail in every bite. Not great, necessarily, but good and the prices are some of the best around. They have a ton of options, and lots of drinks, including beer. We were just picking up, and it was a very hot day. The restaurant didn't have any air-conditioning so it was quite warm inside. Most people were eating outside. We'll be back again to try some other menu items given that their prices are generally pretty good.

This is by far one of my favorite places for Mexican food in SoCal. As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
