They consistently make tasty food with large portions. My only complaint in all my years of coming here is they will occasionally forget to put my side of guacamole in my bag, or my side of pico. So, I just check my bag before driving off now. Otherwise, this place is my go to for carne asada burritos or my chicken flying saucers! My rolled tacos were ok it was just that runny fake guacamole they put over it that is such a turn off. Better to leave it off or charge more for real guacamole. It came with rice and beans. The rice was hard and not edible. My husband had the adovada burrito and said it was excellent. read more

Ok, back again. The lady taking my order at the counter inside was just rude. I can usually tolerate someone having a bad day, but wow.... This is not how you should run a business. I was trying to give the benefit of a doubt when I read the other reviews the first time, but they are true-i suggest firing this woman and improve on the quality of food. Ordered food from them on DoorDash at 9pm on a Monday. Their yelp page said that they're open till midnight. I got a notice that my order was having difficulty and so they had to remade it and i waited longer. Finally my dasher said that the people at diego's refuses to cook my order, because they said they're closed already, (that's not what their yelp page said) and also refused to cancel my order! I've only been going to Diego's Mexican Food for about a year, but it has already become one of my favorite spots. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and satisfying every single time. Their menu is huge--almost overwhelmingly so--but in a fun way. There's something for everyone, and it's impressive how well they execute such a wide variety of dishes. Everything I've tried has been flavorful, well-prepared, and generously portioned. I can't speak to what prices used to be, but the current prices are right in line with every other Mexican fast-food place in the area. Given the quality and portion sizes, it feels like a solid value. If there's any small downside, it's that the late-night food isn't quite as fresh as earlier in the day--but even then, it's still very good and absolutely hits the spot. read more

This place has bomb breakfast burritos. Every time I go to Oceanside and stay the night - it's breakfast burritos in the am. They are so big you have to share. This past weekend we ordered two Cali burritos and two regular bean and cheese burritos (plus breakfast burritos for the morning) and split between multiple people. I know I know, that's a lot of burritos but man they are good. The breakfast burritos heat up so well! I like the salsa but wish the size of the cup was bigger. The service is fast. Menu description sucks.... What is a quesadilla? Grilled flour tortilla, cheese and protein. Ordered a simple Shrimp quesadilla. It came in a styrofoam box, soupy. Soaked flour tortilla in a red sauce, but inside, shrimp, cabbage, rice, tartar sauce??? Pico. Couldn't even eat it. To whom this may concern, I the consumer/customer purchase an order of carne asada fries, 3 roll tacos and a burrito with no guacamole or pico. The asada fries looked good, but the fries were not fully cooked. The fries didn't have a crunch or salt. The 3 roll tacos were soggy and only the sides were crunchy. The burrito was great, only thing was they added guacamole when I said "No Guacamole or pico". Well my friends and I went to McDonalds cause that's better than that taco shop no lie read more

The employees here are so nice, but the food is way too spicy. My wife is Mexican (born and raised in México) and likes spice, but we both agreed the food was too spicy without flavor. We were so disappointed. I don't understand how both of our meals literally had no flavor. read more

I went to Diego's at least once a week when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. This place has great food. Their breakfast burritos are specifically what pulled me in. They also have great California burritos. Can sit inside or outside. read more

Asked for a chile verde burrito, listed as $12.50 on the board. Lady rang me up for $19...tried to tell me it was because of tax...after waiting at the counter to even be attended to. Food was a bit uneven, but giving an extra star for being open 24 hours. Came in around 10:30 pm after driving up to Oceanside from a Padres game. Got a shrimp a la diabla burrito which was amazing. The diabla sauce had me sweating, but was delicious. One kid got a chorizo breakfast burrito which was huge and delicious. Other got a quesadilla (pretty typical) and an order of fries which came out a bit limp. Not sure if that was bc the oil wasn't hot enough or the fries hadn't cooked long enough or both. My wife's carne asada plate was disappointing. Meat wasn't seasoned much and was already diced despite being pictured as a whole piece on the wall. Been here a couple of times now and wanted to give this place the benefit of doubt. Food is pretty average for what it is; carnitas we're cooked decently and the breakfast burrito is actually really solid. In the past we've gotten rolled tacos and California burritos- pretty standard and hits the spot. However, the guacamole is thin and almost watery- so certain aspects can be a miss for sure. Food itself is closer to a 3-star rating. The reason for the 1-star is frankly the customer service. The cashier seemed miserable and irritable when we went in this morning for breakfast. She seemed annoyed when we asked for an extra side of rice and was overall unpleasant while we ordered. We've had her before and she had been rude when we simply asked where the bathroom was. While we were waiting for our food she was also playing on her phone with the volume so loud it could be heard over the restaurant speakers. When it was time to grab our food to take to-go she had handed us a platter with all our food on top of a to-go bag. Our friend who had a burrito to go had his food bagged when she handed it to him. I've never had to go food not handed to us already packed; that's why it's to-go. I'm not sure if she's just had a bad day but it's pretty hard to give the benefit of doubt when we've consistently had terrible costumer service. At this point the food isn't worth it. Potato taco was pretty disappointing though. As someone who loves potato, even I would say it was too much potato and just didn't feel correct compared to the many I have had in my life. I sometimes get breakfast burritos from this place here and there, when I'm running late for work and don't have time to grab something before hand. Burritos have always been average, but it's very close to my work so it's easy for me. Well today will be the last time I get food here.
