I loved this place! I asked my guys at the Cigar Grotto for a recco and they said go here. Many thanks. So I walk in and there is only one other person.... sketchy? Maybe a tiny bit, but then I order with the nicest counter girl ever and I feel much better. Two guys working the grill and plenty of outside and inside table. Plus soda fountain drinks!! Yay!! I go carnitas taco and pollo taco. Both huge! I asked for the carnitas to be crispy and it was perfect. And delivered with a smile. Refill on the Diet Coke? No problem! The meat was so tender and tasty. I'd go just one tortilla but hey if they give me two I'll take it. Parking easy and service perfect! Plus great food. I'll be back many times. I love this place for their bean 'n cheese burritos. How something so simple can be so difficult to get right is beyond me. They have a decent salsa bar and are usually pretty busy. They also have a drive thru which is affording me the opportunity to write this review :) Prices are good (same as most taco shops) and the menu is similar to most as well. The major difference is that all the local Mexicans come here to eat so that's a good sign. read more

This taco shop was across the street from where I stayed for the night, so it was an obvious choice. I was glad to read reviews that gave me hope for something different than the typical Mexican fast food. Great menu with combination plates, à la carte, soups and tortas. I got the number three combination plate, a cheese enchilada and chili relleno with rice and beans. Also ordered a fish taco and a side of guacamole. It was all great. Drove down to Oceanside after listening to hype from my personal trainer of all people (I probably need a new one). After a two hour drive I was expecting something exceptional or different, especially because it's closer to San Diego so I was kind of disappointed. I didn't really find anything exceptional about this place. The nachos I ordered were less than average at best and really soggy by the time I got to them. The Taquitos were some what better but more tortilla than anything. If you live in l.a I can guarantee lots of better places to spend your money and save some gas. The five star rating is for their shredded beef tacos. Period. They are crispy and absolutely amazing. Sure, it's got some grease, but only in the best of ways. Ok so I've been coming here for years! 10+ years I felt it was only right for me to finally write a review. I absolutely love their carne asada nachos. I've been to so many different Mexican shops in San Diego county and no one compares to this shops' nachos. I can't speak on everything on their menu because I have not tried a lot of it besides their rolled tacos and breakfast burritos which are also delicious. I've never had to complain and they have definitely gotten better and improved their shop over the years. Try it out, you won't be disappointed. read more

On June 12, my friend and I tried to place an order via the drive-thru 13 minutes before closing time. There was no answer so we got off and went to the door but it was locked. Super crappy service but the food was pretty good. I've been coming to this place occasionally since 2010 because I just live right up the block. I can't say the customer service has ever been exquisite but today it was really really bad. I ordered almost $20 worth of food and a drink to go for my thirsty son. Most places give you your Beverage right after ordering but this cashier did not. I didn't want to bother her about it so we just sat down and waited for our food to be ready, I figured she'd get around to it and give it to us. My son helped me pour some salsa in the containers and I asked the employee if we could have a little baggy of tortilla chips for the salsa all the employees looked at me like I was crazy and said they could give me chips but would have to charge me for them. I said "never mind that's fine I don't want them if I had to be charged more for them, I was only asking for them because they used to give them out here when you come inside to order". Again they all looked at me like I was crazy shaking their heads like I'm lying or something. Just as I asked the cashier if my son can have his Orange Fanta she quickly pointed it out and said "it's right there" with a dismissive attitude and eye roll. My polite 8 year old son walked up to the counter to grab it but it was so far up on the counter he couldn't see it let alone reach it. The cashiers were switching shifts now and she was too preoccupied with getting her coins from the tip jar (which wasn't very much & I'm assuming it was because of her extreme lack of customer service skills). I would give the Al Pastor Burrito a 8.5/10. It lost half a point only because there was a little to much grease, but that's a very hard line to walk considering not enough grease will absolutely ruin a Al Pastor burrito. read more

This little place is great. I've been getting the shrimp burritos here for 10 years. They just introduced a Surf and Turf burrito, which is even better. Going through the drive-through is kind of an adventure. At order time, there's static and a voice says something like "yap." You place the order, and again "yap." As long as I've been coming here, I wonder, what did he say? did they get my order right? The owner/manager (?) never smiles, just passes the food through the window. You must try the carne asada there. I usually get the taco and it's plenty of meat to make 2 tacos. They add peppers and stuff to the meat that makes the flavor unlike any other. I'm Hispanic so I'm super picky and every Mexican I have told to go says the same thing... BOMB carne asada! Oh yea, BOMB bean and cheese burritos for kids n adults.
