    San Luis Burrito

Great!! The place is cool. They had Eddie Murphy on the TV! I think the San Luis Burrito with extra beans and cheese might be my favorite in the USA!!

My husband had a mission to have his shrimp burrito from here. He had them here in the past, but it had been awhile. So today was the day to take care of that craving. I selected the 3 rolled tacos with just cheese on top. I ordered the Jarrett's Guava drink. Hubby was quite disappointed with his selection. It had too much sauce that it over powered the flavors from all of the other ingredients. He had opened up the burrito so that he could evenly distribute the sauce with the other ingredients. My tacos had good flavor. The meat a little on the dry side, but then again I didn't have all the toppings. I just got a little of the sauces at the condiment bar and dipped the tacos in. The bottled guava drink was good, not too sweet. We came in a bit after 7pm so. As we were finishing up our food they started mopping the floors. So the place is very clean. Plenty of seating indoor with a few tables outside. The AC was working very well, that on this rainy day, my husband actually went to retrieve his jacket. I would come back and try some other things on the menu. This location is off a busy street and business park so it does get quite busy at times. Parking could be busy but there is also some street parking available. Customer service was friendly and helpful.

This place is getting a reputation for their big burritos. They are good, but I want you to check out their crunchy tacos. They are underrated, especially the potato taco. The Tortilla is crunchy and there condiment are fresh. They have a good size salsa bar and plenty of parking. A very clean restaurant. It's my go to Mexican restaurant in Oceanside.

My #1 taco shop in north county! My go to order is the Adobada torta. Crunchy bread on the outside, soft bread on the inside filled with delicious meat, guac, beans and lettuce. Yum mmm Also up there is the chorizo burrito. The portions are generous and I find to be worth the price.

This place has never disappointed me. Very simple order: sausage egg and cheese burrito, no potatoes . Clearly there are potatoes in my burrito. I do have to say, they were super nice when I Brought it back. They made me a new fresh delicious burrito and all is good

The half order of Carne Asada Fries Special

The food was so tasty! I got the half order of carne asada fries which were huge!! I would be shocked to see the full size! The fries were fresh & crunchy & the salsa was great! I only tried the salsa verde but the other ones looked really good too. Plenty of indoor seating & some outside seating. I was waiting for my car next door so I sat inside & it was nice. The cashier she was nice too and the food came out fast.

Prices as of 5/1/26. You're charging far too much.

Showed up on a Friday evening around 7 pm to try this spot for the first time. Have heard they have one of the better California burritos so gave that a try. The burrito was massive and was definitely up there with one of the better I've had in San Diego. They had a solid salsa bar, with salsas that actually packed a good amount of spice. It was crowded when I arrived and they had my burrito ready in about 5 minutes. This all sounds like the makings of a 5 star place, but we can't ignore the price. The California burrito came out to just shy of $20. I respect that it was large and good tasting, but that is straight robbery. In looking at other items on their menu, it seems that's a theme here. $7.50 for a taco, I mean have we just lost the plot?

We went in on a quiet saturday morning after dropping off my car to get windows tinted next door and it filled up quickly. We were a little shy trying this place because it looked so empty but shortly after ordering so many people came in I swear there was no spot open to sit. The burritos were huge and delicious. We've gone back again for some takeout and again we're not disappointed. Definitely would recommend.

I got a huge and delicious fish taco for just $5.40! I got it to go but there's room to eat it there. It's clean and the cashier is nice.

You know the food is good when the restaurant is filled with locals and the line is out the door! I brought my friend here. She used to live in San Diego and wanted that perfect hole in the wall sort of Mexican food with an amazing salsa bar. San Luis Mexican Food checked all the boxes! Despite being a busy Sunday afternoon, our food arrived quickly. We grabbed a seat at the outdoor picnic table. The Carne Asada burrito was the size of a newborn! We barely made a dent in it, and it was so great to have the leftovers the next day. Notably, the tortilla was amazing. It was the perfect texture, size, crispiness, and chewiness. We also tried the rolled tacos and the quesadilla, which were fantastic. The salsa bar has many options and the hot carrots are delightful. I can't say enough good stuff about San Luis. Of course, the prices are in line with California prices!

I'm so glad I finally tried this place! I always pass by on the way home from Carlsbad or Oceanside and I was always curious why this Mexican food place was located around a business plaza. I took a good look at their menu, saw a Surf & Turf burrito and was instantly sold! My husband said he tried this place 7 years ago and mentioned the burritos were massive. He was not kidding! We decided to order the Surf & Turf California burrito to share and 2 potato tacos. On Monday's, it's $2.99/taco which was pretty good for happy hour specials! The inside was clean and small. Serviced pretty quickly and the lady at the register offered to get our salsas for us. While we waited for our food, we just decided to grab our own sauces so that we could try them all. There were about 6 different salsa combinations: 2 mild red salsas, 2 green verde salsas I assume that were medium, and 2 orange salsas which were the spiciest. We got the food fairly quick and the burrito was just... impressive! The photos don't do it justice but it was like double the width and slightly longer than my forearm. I was happy that they actually cut the burrito in half already for you which was a plus. Potato tacos were great :) very crispy, fresh and lots of cotija cheese and lettuce. The burrito was phenomenal! The white sauce was delicious and everything inside like the shrimp & steak were cooked really well. I probably saved myself leftovers for 2 days with this burrito. I never found my go-to Surf & Turf burrito place here in North County San Diego but now I finally found it here!

Since then we've been visiting other burrito places, but decided to give them another shot. We were pleasantly surprised to see things were "back to normal". Not great, necessarily, but good and the prices are some of the best around. They have a ton of options, and lots of drinks, including beer. We were just picking up, and it was a very hot day. The restaurant didn't have any air-conditioning so it was quite warm inside. Most people were eating outside. We'll be back again to try some other menu items given that their prices are generally pretty good.

Such a fun, laid-back beachy vibe and the location is perfect. You can kind of see the water, but more importantly you can FEEL it. We walked along the pier afterward which was a great way to end the night. We were both pretty jet-lagged and I wasn't feeling my best, so we unfortunately couldn't eat as much as we wanted. The birria tacos were definitely the standout! Tender beef, cheesy, crispy on the outside and SO good. I would 100% get those again. I got the pollo asado taco bowl with cheese. The chicken and grilled veggies were fresh and good, but I found myself wishing it had something a little more substantial like rice. Nuzz got the carne asada mulitas and loved them. Very cheesy and he'd definitely order them again. We also got chips and guac, which was fresh and definitely worth ordering. The salsa wasn't really our favorite since we prefer it chunkier. You scan a QR code at the table to order and pay, which was pretty cool, and the food came out FAST. The staff was really friendly too, especially the guy who helped wrap everything up when he realized we weren't eating much. Bonus points for the Cokes in big glass bottles! This is by far one of my favorite places for Mexican food in SoCal. As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
