    Fish Taco

Covina Del Mar San Diego, CA Food: Is there anything better than authentic Mexican food... when in the mood. We ordered Fish Tacos and Steak and Chicken Sopas. The fish taco had a great presentation and tasted great... grilled fish moist and flavorful along with the fresh Pico. The Sopas were delicious l enjoyed the chicken more than the steak nevertheless I would definitely order them again. Service: A bit of a language barrier nevertheless we work through it. Our waitress was so friendly and patient with us. Ambiance: Cantina vibe, clean and well organized.

El Rey tostada - notice it's not on a tostada nor were any tostadas provided with this plate.

Not a great experience for our first time. The place was not crowded, sat down right away. There was a party of about 10 people that were already there. Other than that, there was maybe 1 other table occupied with a couple people. Took a while to order and get our drinks. Took another while to order our food. Then we waited almost an hour for our food. 3 orders of El Rey Ceviches. That's all we ordered and that's how long it took. Food was good, which is why they are getting 3 stars. Won't be back. They're obviously overwhelmed with the smallest of crowds.

Traditional food and friendly service without fuss. Came on a week night and lots of available tables. The server is friendly and is multi-tasking so be patient. The music was super loud and she immediately turned it down when we asked. Chips and house salsa are solid! I got the camerones ala diabla - great kick, shrimp was cooked perfectly, and came with choice of tortilla. Also got taco/enchilada combo and surf and turf burrito. Both got high marks. This is a local place in a strip mall. Come for the food and friendly service without any frills.

    Molcajete del mar. Come hungry!

I have to give a 5 because this restaurant had the best PULPO preparation, a good 4 otherwise. The molcajete del mar is fantastic, opulent, well seasoned and nicely spicy. It is brought to you in a cauldron that seems to come from the inner depth of a volcano, literally, boiling hot and steaming. The pulpo tacos are amazing too... Everything else is good as well, but the pulpo, man :-) Place is clean, spacious, easy to park, rarely any wait.

Oh my goodness this place is a hidden treasure! The restaurant is clean and tons of choices for seating. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas with green sauce! Outstanding, wonderfully seasoned and large portions. My hubs ordered the carnie asada burrito. He had a beer and I had a Pina colada. The service was friendly and fast. I'd go here again.

Friendly staff and clean atmosphere. Proportions were pretty good. Cops and salsa served while we waited. Loved their salsa

Perfect for a post beach meal. I tried the Del mar tostada, surf and turf burrito and the pescado (fish) taco. Accompanied all the good stuff with a glass bottled Coca-cola and modelo Michelada. The service was great. It has a very family friendly ambiance in this place. Lots of seating. The menu is pretty straight forward to what you would expect a maria is place to have. This won't be my last time here!

    Tostada de ceniza
    Denise M.

A gem!! Stopped in for lunch during my work day, hoping to be able to sit and eat while getting some work done. It was spacious, with plenty of tables open when I arrived just before noon. The server was very sweet, and instantly recommended the tostada de ceniza, which had pieces of shrimp cooked in lemon juice and octopus. That's always a good sign when there's no hesitation with the rec! I asked her if it was enough for lunch, and she vigorously nodded yes. When it came out, I saw why! It was chock full of seafood, and I was especially impressed by the big, fresh-tasting pieces of octopus. Reminded me of my trip to Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe recently, and didn't even know how much I'd been craving mariscos!! Very affordable at $14.50 for the tostada, which I needed to use the chips from the free chips and salsa (pleasantly spicy)! I want to come back and try alllll the things :)

    Margarita

We were visiting the area and found this place on yelp. It was in a nice location and even though kinda small on the inside it sure made up for it in food and service. The waitress was very nice and we ordered a Margarita and Pena colada which was made very well. Our meal came out after and it was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend this place for date night or even a nice family meal.

    The Campenchana
    Ventura S.

It's their Campechana...not huge but for $23 it's portioned. Pulpo...all at the bottom. Shrimp...as you can barely see in the pic are small...oyster saved it...would have been nice to have dos...one on the half shell and one in the cup...scallops? Love how clean the place looked and felt!

My mom loves oysters, and they did not disappoint fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth ordering. We also tried the gumbo, and it was incredible rich, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the seafood. The fried shrimp was a little overcooked, and the oil tasted slightly old, but it was still good and definitely not enough to take away from the overall experience. The portions are generous, the seafood is always satisfying, and the quality keeps me coming back. We sat outside at one of the picnic tables and it had a really relaxed, laid-back vibe. The STAR was definitely the ahi tuna appetizer. SO GOOD! The tuna was incredibly fresh with avocado, cucumber and red onion, and every bite was perfectly seasoned. It had a little kick for someone like me who normally doesn't do spicy, but apparently that didn't stop me because I was fighting Nuzz for the last piece We got chips with it too and they were perfectly crunchy. I got two fried fish tacos and loved them! The fish was lightly fried and almost airy, not heavy or greasy at all. Exactly what I wanted in a fish taco! Nuzz got grilled fish, spicy octopus and the Mar y Tierra with steak and shrimp. He loved all three, although the octopus definitely brought the heat! Our server was great too. I asked for a ginger ale, which they don't have, and he actually offered to run to 7-Eleven to get me one! Obviously I wasn't going to let him do that but seriously, how sweet?! Fresh seafood, delicious tacos, great service and a laid-back atmosphere. We would absolutely come back! And next time I'm getting my own ahi appetizer. Sharing was a mistake.

Stepping inside just after 1:00 PM, the atmosphere immediately feels crisp, polished, and genuinely welcoming. Front-of-house host Maria sets an impressive tone right at the door, effortlessly managing a constant flow of walk-ins, ringing phones, and reservations with warm, unflappable grace. The reward for arriving on time is arguably the finest seat in the house: a sunlit patio table right at the open window, where the fresh Pacific breeze lifts the entire dining experience. Service, helmed by Hanna, is nothing short of stellar. Attentive and operating with remarkable emotional intelligence, she ensures every need is anticipated. While a flat Pepsi Zero was an early misstep (a swap for Coke Zero would be a welcome menu adjustment), the opening complimentary sourdough roll with maple butter was so good it disappeared instantly--prompting Hanna to thoughtfully bring a second with the appetizer. The famed spicy fried calamari brings bold Asian-inspired flavors, featuring a sweet-and-spicy dip reminiscent of classic egg roll sauces and a fiery drizzle akin to the sauce on a dragon roll. However, while the flavor profile hits the mark, the execution left room for improvement; the calamari itself landed on the greasier, lukewarm side, falling slightly short of top-tier benchmarks like Villa Roma. Any minor missteps evaporate when the Filet Trio arrives. It is, without hyperbole, a culinary masterpiece. Three beautifully cooked 3-ounce medallions are each elevated by distinct, harmonious toppings: rich crab and asparagus under a silky béarnaise; a sharp, savory combination of blue cheese fondue and crispy prosciutto; and a deeply flavorful green peppercorn sauce crowned with crunchy onions, all anchored by creamy garlic mashed potatoes. Each bite activates the palate in a completely different way, balancing contrasting textures and rich flavors seamlessly. With an expansive beverage program that includes thoughtful zero-proof options, alongside a varied menu spanning light, healthy options to decadent comfort food, 333 Pacific remains a must-visit. The food shines bright, but it is the top-tier staff--especially Hanna, whose professionalism and bright smile truly elevated the meal--that guarantees a return visit. We also had drinks, but they only had iced tea and lemonade, and sodas were all out. We were given a receipt with a number on it and we went to find seating. There are several big picnic tables, but they were all in the sun despite having umbrellas and the patio was full so we ended up having to eat inside, which was very hot. While we waited the line got pretty long. Our order didn't take too long and we brought it back to the table after getting condiments like ketchup for our fries, tartar sauce for the fish and plenty of napkins. The portions are huge and could definitely be split. Everything was too hot to eat (no complaints there) so we started with the slaw. I'm not a big slaw fan but it was good. I broke apart the fish so it would cool faster. The fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. The chowder was thick and tasty but mostly potatoes and very few clams. The shrimp were perfectly cooked inside the thick batter. The fish was well breaded and tasted good. I just wish it was a bit less greasy.
