Well 99% good Not the price. I patronize big O's predominantly. Unfortunately. They don't do diesel Second time to different strokes. They di fix work. Fix the problem. But their bills are easily double what a shop in the states would charge. I watched a you tube video. Coulda done a small labor job Basic tools and 2 hrs. Dif strikes charged 5 hrs labor plus their parts surcharge. If it hadn't been cold out. I would a spent 250 in parts and 2 hrs. Over 1100$ at different strokes Am I complaining. Absolutely not. I got estimate and knew the Kruger going in. I made the choice to where I work snd work a day. To pay these guys. They are : polite Kind Efficient Know their stuff. I had heard they were the top ford guys in Alaska. Maybe they were at one time now it is a scam company I had work done there a few years ago. They called me asking if I wanted extra work done I told them no. Fuel filter ect. Well they replaced anyway replaced brand new parts after they literally called me and asked if I wanted to and I declined. I will never have my truck there again. I'm giving this business the highest rating possible, even though I have never had my tuck in their shop. Made an appointment to have my glow plugs checked out, then canceled because decided to do the diagnostics myself. 5 minutes after calling to cancel the owner called back to ask if my truck was running better, than went on to suggest ways to troubleshoot; I was blown away! In all my years of doing business with repair shops, 50+, rarely if ever has a mechanic freely and voluntarily given advice over the phone without even looking at my vehicle. I was totally thrown off guard. I'll be taking my truck to Different Strokes next time I needs repair beyond my comfort zone. My regular shop of 25+ year, who usually doesn't work on diesels, highly recommend this business also. They said it's the only diesel truck repair shop in town they trust; that says a lot! read more

Literally the absolute best customer service I have ever had in ANY business setting. We drove up from Seward to shop in our friends truck and it stopped running. In a panic, we called and told Different Strokes to tell them our dilemma. They said they were busy, but they would do everything they could to help us since we're visiting Anchorage and needed to get home. We had the car towed, the owner, Justin, was super helpful. He came out, introduced himself and crawled on the ground and within 3 minutes had the issue diagnosed. Luckily, they had a fuel pump in stock and within 40 minutes we were driving out of the door and headed home! It's like they stopped everything they were doing hair to assist us. Beyond thankful! He mentioned our brake fluid was empty and filled that out for us so we would have a safe drive. The office staff was super friendly and everyone was professional. WAY WAY impressed with the quality of the customer service and the quality of the repairs at a reasonable price. They did an exceptional job walking through what was done, what might be needed in the future and also went out to my other truck that was not in for repairs and helped diagnose a couple symptoms I had experienced, free of charge. I'm giving Different Strokes 5 stars, but in truth they are definitely a 10-star business and if you own a Powerstroke, this is the place you need to take your truck. The entire staff is super friendly and customer service is obviously a top priority. I own a 2016 F350 and my intercooler hose blew apart after leaving work and the truck was under warranty so I took it to the dealership, but 7 weeks later it was still at the Ford dealership, and I was told it would take another 6 or 7 weeks before they would get the parts to fix my truck and I just couldn't wait that long to get my truck back. After finding Different Strokes and speaking to the owner Justin, they got the parts for my truck in just a couple of days and they fixed my truck and had it ready for pick up just a few hours after I had brought it over from the dealership. I did have to pay for the repairs out of pocket, but it was a very reasonable price and worth every penny and I feel very lucky to have found this shop. I live out in Wasilla, so it's a bit out of the way for me, but from now on, Different Strokes of Alaska is the only place that will be working on my truck and I highly recommend them to everyone who owns a powerstroke. read more

We are on a 3 month Alaska/NW Canada trip from San Diego, CA. A few days ago we started hearing a high frequency squealing in the fuel filter area. I knew what it was because I just had the fuel regulator replaced with the blue spring upgrade and they did it wrong. I called 3 diesel service places in Anchorage and explained our situation. All said at least 2 to 6 weeks before they could even look at it. Then I called Different Strokes of Alaska. They were booked like everyone else. But then a man came on the phone and I explained our situation again. He said... "I am the owner Justin... Bring it in." We got it and another issue fixed same day! I am a retired engineer and Justin gave me a tour of his operations. I was director of 200 worldwide service engineers and I was sooo impressed. Well run and happy and skilled employees. I usually do not give high reviews due to the lack of customer service these days. However, all readers please pay attention to this one. I had a huge engine catastrophe with my 2011 Ford 350. Ford was not helpful at all. Different Strokes SAVED MY TRUCK. I worked very hard to pay off the truck and then the engine blew. Different strokes did everything right and told me I was being taken advantage of from the dealership and fixed my truck. There were unusual circumstances causing a delay, but was not their fault and they made it RIGHT! My truck is running like a champ thanks to this company! I am a local here in anchorage and I will not take my truck anywhere else. I trust these guys and I feel I can drive away with the quality service I paid for. I've used different strokes twice once for a blown HPOP and the second for when I tried to save money and had another shop mess up my rig. They are a little more expensive but you get quality work and Alex is easy to work with and flexible. If you own a powerstroke do yourself a favor and go to these guys they actually know what they're doing unlike some of the places I've looked at. read more

This place is known for being the place to take a Ford diesel to get work done. My experiences have been different. I didn't realize it until recently but every time I brought the truck in, they would tell me something else needed to be worked on. Things that didn't have any issues and in some cases, things that were not even in the area they worked on. One of the most recent things they persistently tried to solicit for was to do the oil changes. They did two of them and I left with an oil leak after the second change. They broke the heater and blower and would not admit to it saying "it was like that when they received the truck", then "it's an old truck and original heater so that is why it probably does work and needs to be replaced." I brought the truck in for an expensive job, one they told me needed to be done. They were correct that I did have a problem. After they replaced the part (note, they had used a good quarter of a tank of fuel during is process letting the vehicle idle and take on a couple of drives), I experienced smoke coming out the exhaust. I brought it back and THEY SEIZED THE ENGINE (this was the one thing they admitted to doing, however, they were not going to fix their mistake out of their own pocket...yes, they charged me to fix what they admitted to breaking but would not tell me that until I picked up the truck). This place took me for a lot of money in a short period of time. Each time I brought the truck in, something else went wrong. I never had any major issues prior to them laying hands on the vehicle. If you have a Ford diesel, find somewhere else to bring your truck to. They emptied my wallet and killed my truck in the process. I am truely convinced it would still be my daily driver had I not brought it there and I would have thousands of dollars in my savings account. read more
