We drove up from Whitehorse to get some Lugnuts for our van, the Mercedes dealership did not have any of the parts that we needed, and the dealership couldn't even help us with the oil. We went to TrailerCraft, they were some of the nicest people that we have met since being in Anchorage. The man helped us and gave us the Lugnuts that we needed to proceed on our trip. Trailercraft destroyed my trailer hitch by slicing up my 4 pin and screwing on another plastic connection that doesn't work. The lights did not come on, it doesn't work. No quality work was done. I asked for a brake module and connection for my trailer and they only added a connection with no brake module lines at all. This is insane because I thought this was a professional company to fix up my vehicle to pull a small lightweight trailer. Even if they forgot to install the brake module, the connection they placed on my vehicle doesn't work, they destroyed what was previously there and now I have to take my car to a professional trailer shop or mechanic to get it fixed. I'm out $317 for something that I could have done for $15 with a part on Amazon if that's what I was after. They also charged me for labor that was done by somebody working the front counter most the time I was being charged. I know this because I watched him from the waiting area! There were zip ties hanging out the front and undernearth and the electrical tape just dangling there. This was from a professional supposedly. I will never use them again and I will tell everybody I know what a horrible job they did, and how rudely I was treated when I enquired about it not being what I wanted and how it doesn't work. The manager Jason refused to come out to talk to me quote "that's not going to happen".He claims that I signed a paper that says I wanted my 4 pin switched to a bigger pin .... Apparently he also thought I wanted something installed THAT DOESN'T WORK and LOOKS AMATEURISH. I thought this was step one of getting it done. And they thought that was the end. If you value your vehicle don't go there! Amateurs, chauvinistic, rude, and liars. I ended up taking my car to another trailer shop to be inspected and repaired. They discovered that Trailercraft did not install the cheap part correctly, so they fixed it, and the charge was over $200. I had a goose neck hitch, and a 7 wire plug installed. I dropped my truck off the day before the appointment and asked how much the install would be. I was informed that I would get a call before any work was done with an estimate. I was contacted the next afternoon to inform me that they had not completed the install. I asked how much it was, and it was over double what Six Robblees was going to charge. I would never have agreed to pay double, never. They dropped the rate because they had already started the work, and it was still $300 over their competitors rate. They charged me $169 just to check the engine light. You can get that done for free at O'Reilly's. And I paid over $100 more than necessary for an oil change. I needed repairs done to my vehicle. After waiting in the lobby for 4 hours I asked to see if the work was completed. They said they had not started on it yet. After another hour they finally drove it into a bay. A FULL 3 HOURS later I went into their shop and they said they didn't have the part in stock. So it took them 8 hours for a 'once-over'. Found out the hard way that their warranty is limited only to parts and not labor. I spent over $11,000 to get a turbo replaced along with DPF filters replaced that were ruined from oil flowing through the turbo into the exhaust. After driving less than 1000 miles the new turbo also failed and same problem happened. However, when I took it back to them, I was told that only the turbo (about $2,200) was under warranty so I'd be looking at about $9000 to get it fixed again. At least this time, they were upfront enough to tell me to take it to RWC where all parts and labor would be covered under warranty. Wish they had been open enough to tell me that the first time before I spent $11,000 on it. Definitely keep this in mind before you take a vehicle to Trailercraft for repair. read more

I'd say pretty average service. We bought a used boat and trailer and brought it there for inspection of the trailer. Pros: able to get us in quickly. Diagnosed and repaired on site. Boat trailer needed new wiring as it has been cut. Replaced drum brakes which were no longer functioning. Cost seemed comparable to other shops. Cons: after a week of repairs, called to pick it up and none of the lights (left, right, and center strip) were fixed despite the repair being on the invoice. The representative apologized quickly. So had to leave the trailer at the shop. Returned a second time and brought it home and center strip was hanging off as a bolt had broken. The left brake light was also no longer functioning. Other than these issues, the tires look good and I think the brakes are fine. It was too late in the season to keep bringing it back for repairs. I might return if I have to for tire and brake maintenance but consider going elsewhere for wiring lights. read more

In preparation for a long cross country trip they helped me out with an air ride suspension, weight distribution hitch, serviced my transmission and all routine maintenance for both my truck and trailer. I have been trying to get a refund for 11 months. The manager said they would refund me but now they are ignoring my calls and emails. They doubled the price of my quoted install. I took it home and it does not work. Looked up the plow factory specs and they mounted it too low. It took them over 30 days to do the install when I was originally told it would take 8 hours. I lost the vehicle for this whole time. The plow gets stuck and drags the truck off the road because it's so low to the ground. I have had to hire other people to plow my driveway because I have damaged my vehicle getting it stuck and sliding into things trying to plow with their improper install as it high centers and drags the truck into things. Worst company in Alaska I think. I may have to take them to court. read more

A few hours after leaving they called us to let us know that a tool had been left in the car, after working that out, we then got another call stating they had charged us the wrong amount and we either had to drive the 30 minutes back to pay another $180 or give our card info over the phone. Absolutely impressed! We had our company vehicle in Anchorage from Colorado and having been driven the 3,200 miles and were headed back to Colorado after our van had sat for 6 months in Alaska. The extremely knowledgeable and professional staff actually fit us into their busy schedule, ordered the necessary parts and had us on our way in warp time. The courtesy extended to us as customers by Talon in the service dept was above any I have experienced in a retail/service situation. As we had occasion to be seated near the service desk (in a very comfortable waiting area), I had occasion to witness all the service employees attending to their customers with the very same courtesy and professionalism extended to my husband and me. I didn't visit the Anchorage shop but my motor home developed an oil leak near the Alaska/Yukon border. We made it in to Fairbanks and called Trailercraft/Freightliner there. They took our coach in that morning, diagnosed the problem quickly and got the repairs don't by the next afternoon. They also provided us with a place to park for the night with electricity. Trailercraft should take down the Freightliner sign. It sees that trailer hitches are more important that Freightliners. Poor communication with customers. Customers treated as though they have nowhere else to go. Don't bother speaking with Lee McKenzie with any problem, in my case he hung up on me and basically told me to shove it. What can I say, these guys are the best! We had some serious problems with our travel trailer during our trip to Alaska. We actually busted a piece off our chassis while driving up the Alaska Highway, and needed someone to weld it back together for us. (Watch out for those frost heaves). One of the steel plates that the shackles attach to had broken. It seems that the manufacturer had only tack-welded those plates, instead of doing a full weld. Trailer Craft was recommended to us by some of the local folks who live in Anchorage. Talon Armor, the service writer who took care of us, is a terrific guy, and knew exactly what needed to be done. He was very good natured and reassuring, and kept us informed every step of the way. The mechanic, Milan (I think I spelled that correctly), knew his stuff and did excellent work. He jacked the trailer up, pulled the axles off, and re-welded the entire suspension system for us, not just the part that had broken. He then realigned the whole assembly and put it back together. We also purchased two tires to replace the pair that had worn down from rubbing on the bottom of the trailer. The only minor wrinkle was that, because they are so good at what they do, they are extremely busy. It was the middle of summer, and they were so backlogged with repairs that we had to wait eight days for them to find time to help us. It was worth it, though, because they did a great job repairing our trailer. read more
