Thank you for the quick fix! My phone had pressure cracks and dead pixels, and I wasn't expecting my fix to be under $200, but after coming in, I was greeted and gracefully helped. The fix was under $80 and took a little less than an hour. When I got there, there was still a little bit of an issue with the way my touch screen worked, and the issue was fixed immediately. Not only were the workers helpful, but they were very charismatic and didn't leave me feeling uncomfortable. There was a lot of self-repair done on this machine and despite it all, Gabrielle was patient with me and heard my story and we were able to come to a solution! He ordered me the parts from their supplier at a reasonable cost and the cost for labor was reasonable as well. Glad that this was the first and only place I had to go to for my repairs. Would recommend to all and will come back if I have something else to be fixed! Very disappointed with this place. I went 2 weeks ago to get my iPhone screen fixed. About 2 days later, I started having issues with the touch screen. It would sporadically stop responding to touch, which had never happened before. I took it back and they offered to replace it, attributing the problem to a "bad batch" they received. The manager said he had found the problem, but the phone would work with the new screen henceforth. Well, that same day, the same thing happened again. Only this time, touch screen response time was worse. It would sometimes take hours for the frozen screen to work again. I went back for the third time explaining the problem, and the manager responded that it was probably a hardware issue, which the company was not responsible for. I have trouble believing that considering I had no prior issues and the fact that he initially blamed the faulty shipment for the malfunction. He offered to replace the screen a third time and would run a diagnostic to determine the source of the problem. At that point, I didn't trust them enough to leave my phone a third time and told them I would take it elsewhere for a second opinion. I asked for a refund for the time/inconvenience (I even explained I had missed important client calls because of this), but he said they didn't offer refunds because I would walk away with the screen. He claimed that the only way they would be able to give me a full refund would be by replacing it with my original cracked screen, oh but mentioned that they toss those out from the get go. Unbelievable. After I protested, they said they could only give me partial refund (tax not included). I took my phone to a reputable place in Kearny Mesa and the guy was totally honest saying the issue was most likely because of the "touch disease" and was triggered by the screen replacement. He said iPhones 6 plus's are plagued by it (he showed me online articles). I ended up having to buy a new phone. Terrible experience. My advice: do your research and go to one of the many other repair shops in the area with great reviews. I regret not doing that prior. Shame on me, I guess. read more

I came here to have my cracked screen repaired on a Thursday evening before I went out of town for the weekend. After overlooking the new screen I thought the screen quality may have looked a little distorted but assumed it must have just been me transitioning back into having a normal screen (my mistake). The entire screen popped off in my fanny pack on Saturday which eventually lead to a cracked corner by the end of the night. I brought the phone back thinking that replacing the screen again shouldn't be an issue considering it had only been a couple days and the damage was not my fault, but was told I would have to pay the full $90 to replace the screen again. After challenging the gentleman I was told $75 was the best they could do with the damage that was done. I left infuriated and went down the street to Miramar Mobile Repair who was kind enough to help me out by replacing my screen for $80. When giving back my phone he asked where I had my screen replaced because it was noticeably cheap (explaining why I thought the screen looked a little distorted), and was surprised when I told him Nerd Solutions because of their known credibility. Needless to say I will never step foot in this business again or let anyone I know take their phone for repairs here. read more

Bait and switch marketing? Or just poor follow-through? I attempted to schedule an appointment to repair my iPhone five. In reviewing the price I was quoted $69. When I asked them if they would honor their Facebook advertisement where the iPhone 5 screen repair special of $55 was extended through January. He returned saying that special had expired, despite it still being January 31, 2015. The best he could do was $60. To me this is an easy fix. Instead, I wonder whether they know that this kind of response represents to potential clients --This bait and switch marketing "false marketing," either speaks of their intentions to begin with or speaks to there integrity and interest in standing by there own work and service . I called in and they refused to change it. Within a month the adhesive they had used I guess stopped working and the screen completely separated! I hadn't even dropped my phone. I went in to ask them to change it- and they refused! I'll never return. With their cheap products- I wouldn't recommend it either. read more

It didn't pebble like the usual Apple products, or like safety glass, they were SHARP! By cracking again so easily and by the way it cracked, I know that this is an inferior product. I didn't want to have to go through this again, so I went to the Apple store to get a real glass replacement. But they knew that it wasn't Apple glass that they were replacing, so they denied to do it. So I went back to Nerd Solutions for another glass swap. After about a week, the glass started to unseat from the phone. So I went back for another replacement. I think its best just to spend the extra $10 and get a quality glass replacement direct from Apple and avoid all of this hassle. read more

I have an old ASUS tablet (TF-101) I bought refurbished 2-3 years ago. I've taken that time to accessorize it like pimping out an old used car. Dice in the mirror, zebra patterned seats, Chrome Skull shifter, etc. In this case, it was a keyboard attachment, and a fancy leather case that elegantly brings the two together. Unfortunately I've also treated the tablet with the same level of respect that I would to a clingy yet psychotic ex-girlfriend. You read into that what you will. It decided to not get turned on after a while (see the parallel?) but thankfully I was within warranty. I shipped it to ASUS and they sent it back as good as um... refurbished. A year later, it stopped charging (interestingly the OPPOSITE of a psychotic girlfriend). ASUS was still patient enough to take my claim, though I can't help to think they were getting tired of my crap. Fast forward to now, and noticed it didn't charge again. Sadly I had gone beyond the comforting blanket of the 2nd repair warranty. Now it was time to turn my attention to Local Repair shops. Thinking this would be an open-shut case for any shop, I naively took it to the highest Yelp Rated repair shop in San Diego. The guy took my tablet, looked it up and down, and then looked at me with an expression similar to someone who suddenly smelled a fart. Guy: "Uh... I don't touch ASUS Tablets. Sorry dude. They just make 'em out of cheap parts. I got a bin in the back of defective ones I'm shipping back." Me: "But I just... it works fine before, it just isn't charging..." Guy: "Doesn't matter, I don't know about your specific model, but I just don't work on ASUS." Me: "So I'm S.O.L.?" Guy: *Shrugging* "Maybe you could sell it for parts." And just like that, he kicked me and by tablet out on the street. I now know why you have 5 stars buddy... you only cherry pick your clients. No one would give you a crap review because you won't work on devices that might put you in that position. But it wasn't just him as I found out. Tons of these top rated repair places either focused on Apple Products (which is weird, cause why don't you just take it back to Apple...?) or specifically NOT my tablet. Enter Nerd Solutions. 20+ Reviews, 5 stars, they were just further down my calling list. The guy that answered didn't care what the brand was, but just said to bring it on over. I came in on a Sunday afternoon, and he set me up quick and easy. I got e-mail and text alerts keeping me up-to-date on the status of my device. I gave them permission to order and install parts. And within a few days I was home with my tablet. Unfortunately the last time it was charged I had a sexually suggestive wallpaper laid out on the background so that was in NO WAY embarrassing. (#TotallyEmbarrassing) But they were pros about it, and even when I was testing it at the shop (i.e. frantically trying to change the wallpaper to something innocuous like a landscape or NOT BOOBS) it was acting up, and they kindly took 10-15 minutes to make adjustments so that it worked perfectly. The prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The turnaround is quick, and they will communicate with lightning speed. I'm hoping to not HAVE to go back for this tablet... but if I do, I'm going to Nerd Solutions. The OTHER company can go kick rocks. Yeah you heard me. From where I live, the drive down to Nerd Solutions was a ten minute drive because there was no traffic. Reason I went there was I needed my primary cell phone to be fixed was due to a broken screen. Cost was around 170 dollars but I paid the deposit for 100 dollars for the special order purchase. Glad I got my phone fixed was due to the honest commitment by them. read more

Had many trips to this store for laptops, cell phones, tablets repair and never got disappointed. Once I took 3 of my companies test phones for some unusual repair and they worked on it for an hour and were unable to fix it, and didn't charged me for there time and felt bad that they were unable to fix it but these were not ordinary phones, these were test phones which are way different than usual phones and hard to understand and our company just wanted to try to see if it can be fixed. My beloved Samsung tablet took a dirt nap - and it was pretty clear that either the charging port was broken (again!) or the battery was dead, dead, dead. I *tried* to send it back to Samsung, but a) They want a huge down payment 'in case the screen was broken' (which makes me twitchy) and b) no one from Samsung EVER got back to me to set up the repair - multiple hours on hold, and NO return calls. After six attempts, I started looking for someone local. Enter Yelp! and the good reviews of these guys. The guys at Nerd Solutions were great - Gabriel checked me in, got my contact info - and verified my email address by sending me a check-in message right then, so that I could verify using my smartphone. The price quoted was VERY reasonable, as was the expected turn-around time. Gabriel ran diagnostics, and emailed me within a day or two, confirming both our suspicions, and I was again notified by email that the tablet was ready to be picked up. Staff is really nice but unfortunately its a bit of a rip off if you don't know what you're doing. I brought in my iPhone 5s to get my screen replaced because I had been told they would do it for $70. When I got there, they told me it would be $120 to fix my phone. I was really taken back but I needed my phone fixed so badly that I agreed to pay. I found out that it only costs $150 to get a brand new iPhone from ATT&T if you've bought the warranty. I was even more disappointed when the screen they had put on my phone stopped working correctly after about 5 weeks, even with the protector they told me I HAD TO HAVE!!!!. eventually the home button wouldn't work too(which they also had replaced). I have already had to buy a new phone. I will not be returning here. read more

This shop rocks! They repaired my Samsung Galaxy S3 charging port and screen. Works perfect! I just brought in my nephew's Samsung tablet. Another shop had mangled the repair to his charging port. They ran a complicated diagnostic, free of charge. They documented the poor original repair for us with photos, and saved the bad port, so we could get a refund. They then did an intricate repair on the leads on the motherboard, and saved a tablet that would have been toast, in any other hands. I was assured there would be no charge, if this hail Mary pass at salvage failed. All told, it took under a week, (at their own risk) to save the tablet. The repair cost less than the original botched job at the other shop. Don't go anywhere else. You'll just make more work for them, when you eventually need to take it to Nerd Solutions. read more

I brought my Samsung Note 5 in for a battery replacement. My whole busienss is on my phone and the original battery has been through at least 1000 charging cycles. It was worn out. These guys were honest and told me there was a good chance the back glass would break when they did the repair. They gave me the option to proceed or not. I went ahead. The back did break but the new battery works great. I ordered a new back glass from Amazon for $25.00. They can replace the back glass too but, they didn't have the color I wanted so I elected to do it myself. I would highly recommended bringing a device here for repair! read more

Getting replacement glass for an S4 is very cheap (under $20). Based on my research removing the broken screen and installing the new one can be problematic. I decided I would rather pay a professional to do the job right. I brought Nerd Solutions my S4 with a cracked screen. $97 dollars later I have a new screen that sits in broken beat-up bezel. My bezel now has two fractures and multiple pry marks (the metal veneer has been stripped in one place). When I raised issue with this first they did not take ownership, asking if I was sure it was already there. Then they said it was the machine they used and part of the repair process. They offered me 10% off, or screen protector or I could buy a new screen/digitizer for $200. All I wanted was the glass replaced and I assumed my phone would be cosmetically the same otherwise. If that was not possible they should have set that expectation. Mistakes happen I understand that. Good businesses make sure they are rectified. Whether it was communication or the repair process, a mistake was made here. I was highly disappointed they did not take ownership and showed no interest in properly resolving the issue. UPDATE: The nightmare continues. Adhesive continues to leak from the edges and home button, my screen is scuzzy as a result. My home button is now below the glass. Most importantly I have lost data connectivity. 2.5 hours with Verizon tech support revealed a malfunctioning 4g antenna. I'm betting it is saturated in adhesive. I had a frustrating experience with them. I had called here earlier in the day and talked to a guy named Stephen, I told him what I needed done and what kind of phone I have.My screen was broken and completely black so I couldn't use it. He told me no problem they have the part I needed and gave me a decent quote, which I wrote down just incase. I work downtown so I rushed there after work (I also live in El Cajon) so I went way out of my way. Once I arrived I told them I talked to Stephen on the phone, he was right at the desk when I walked in . I showed him my phone and he tells me they don't have that part for my phone and that would have never been the price for it. So I am not sure why the same guy would tell me something different on the phone. Upon arriving half an hour later the same tech told me the same repair was normally $189.99 but right now it was a special promotion of $169.99. When I pointed out the discrepency he looked a little uncomfortable but said he could take care of it for the lower price. He checked through some drawers and then said they didn't have the part in stock and it'd take 3-5 days to get it in. He asked me pay in full or leave my phone as a deposit. It wasn't a special order part, just something that they happened to run out of. I ended up contacting my manufacturer and they send a replacement phone overnight for $100. read more

I went to the Apple Store hoping to get some help with my Macbook that I purchased 3 years ago. After a couple of minutes my laptop would just completely turn off and I never heard the fan start to kick in so I figured the fan was the issu. Unfortunately my laptop was out of warranty by Apple's standards so I was out of luck until I went on Yelp. Did a search to see if there was a repair shop nearby and based on the reviews, I gave this place a shot. I called them up, explained my problem and they were willing to help me out immediately. The price was fair (Half of what Apple wanted to charge me) and I probably would have paid a lot more elsewhere. The Nerd representative was very friendly and knew exactly what to do. He replaced the video processor on the logic board and even gave me recommendations on what should be done for long term use. Great customer service. Very knowledgeable and I will definitely be going back to these guys whenever I have anymore issues. I highly recommend them if you have a Mac and they do guarantee satisfaction so if you have any problems with what they fixed within 90 days. read more

Went in to get my iPhone 5S battery replaced and the guy behind the counter asked me to download a battery app to check my battery before replacing it. The battery app showed my battery was fine and he said I didn't need to replace it. He than went on to clean out my charger port since I've had issues charging my phone and than said the was a free service. I've had work done here before on my phone and these guys were great than.
