Owner welcomed a new shipment.

Super lucky to find this AMAZING Wine purveyor of fine wines in " Dogpatch" neighborhood of SF. It is mesmerizing walking in with all the bottles lining the walls like wallpaper. Quaint extension of Piccino Italian neighborhood cozy cafe and bakery. All of the wines were numbered so easy to hand pick your fav's. I enjoy Italian reds and was impressed by their menu. They must have tastings also, and I think the tables in front outside are shared with diners. Hip, fun place to share a bottle with a friend. I will definitely make a trip to come up to DIG SF . Thanks Wayne for your welcoming me in.

Like any good "Fine Wine Shop" it is an extension of its creator, in this case, Wayne Garcia.

Where most of us buy wine, service and knowledge have become victims of our current obsession with low prices. Thankfully, there are places like Dig for those interested in learning and discovering fine wines. Wine Merchant Wayne Garcia is the mind behind this improbable gem of a find, and is one of the shining stars in the rapidly evolving Dogpatch area. Well worth the trip, if you're a fan of French or Italian wines that can, as their website boasts "surprise and delight"!

Beautiful bottles, friendly atmosphere. You will know you have arrived somewhere special once you step inside.

But beyond all that Wayne knows just about everyone that comes in by name and tries to cultivate a coterie.

They have a fantastic selection. My issue is with their auction business, which I think they have very little they can do about it as they are taking the word of the sellers that the bottles have been properly cellared. Multiple Aubert Chardonnays (2014-2017) bottlings, top end, have been clearly past their prime despite being in the start of the prime drinking window, and one bottle that was very tired. So it seems to be less of the "rare bad bottle" problem and more of a systemic issue with some of their sellers. I'll change this review if other such start-of-the-prime-drinking-window bottles through K&L prove to show they are drinking well and increase the ratio of good to bad items. I have a lot more of these bottles to test. Edit: may 2026 - a few more Aubert Chardonnay's going back to a 2018 Eastside were opened and we're all spectacular, crisp and peaked. Our stats are much better now on the aging of chards through the auction. Changing to 5 stars.

In my case, KLWines stated that the order had been transferred to RareStorage and that they had no further responsibility. RareStorage, on the other hand, ignored my emails and support requests. As a result, I was left without the product I purchased and without the money I paid for shipping. From a customer's perspective, this is an unacceptable experience, as neither company accepted responsibility or provided a satisfactory resolution.

He purchased a tiny bottle of Jim Beam for $8.99 while although pricey was the only thing een close to reasonably priced. He also got a 2 liter of Diet Pepsi that cost $6.99 and a 12 pack of white claw which they charged him $34.99 for. So $55 for those three items and then afterwards he said he was told his total was seventy something dollars and he had paid in cash. I would definitely not come here or recommend it and if you do, please check the prices, check your receipt and check the total amount you are told very carefully.

Somebody reluctantly suggested Fred's. I figured "what the heck." Walking from the Marriott to Fred's was a descent into hell. I could not believe all the homelessness and drug use I witnessed along the way. Nobodywas violent, as they were all out of their minds lying on the sidewalks. The management seemed to have a grasp on who they let in the store, and it seemed to be running a good business, providing food and such in the neighborhood which they have business. I've been in many combat zones in my life but never expected to see one on the streets of San Francisco. Next time visiting in San Francisco in the evening, I won't return to that area as it's an island of lost souls.
