I worked at this Dillard's when I lived in Virginia Beach. I worked part time, primarily on weekends and really enjoyed it. The hoisery department was my primary department and back then hose was a popular item! We had senior discounts and sales and the department often got really busy which was great because the shift would fly by! The management were all kind and the other sales associates were, too! The patrons were nearly all great to help and deal with! I especially enjoyed the employee discount I got and was able to get Christmas gifts at a deep discount because of that! A lot of activity at Dillards over the past few months with the holidays, but even more in the last two weeks with building a new professional wardrobe and going on vacation. The service has stood out and has been impressive! However, staff cuts have become obvious with areas not being full manned and searching for staff to assist. Every person that has helped me has been top notch. Dillards has had the types of clothes, shoes and accessories that I wear in brands I trust. So I focused primarily on this department store to rebuild my wardrobe after a major loss of weight in a healthy way thankfully. So many lines have impressed, but the Hart Schaffner & Marx stood out the most. They are definitely not the clothing line of grandpa any longer. They have lines from gorgeous hip suits to casual wear down to jeans. I focused on this brand exclusively for quality and good value. They also just got Polo Summer clothing in that I really liked. The two staff of Dennis and Lawanda assisted me. For shoes I focused on Johnston & Murphy which is a long time favorite brand. I purchased formal to casual. I received fantastic assistance from an older gentleman that really knew and loved shoes. For my wife who also has been on a health journey of her own she found less of what she liked, but did make purchases too! She received help from the manager on the second floor dresses. So big praise for Dillards as one of the last of the great department stores in Tidewater. I would hold Macy's up there too, but edge to Dillards service, wide ranging products and brands I personally like. read more

Dillards is a nice store. Some items were pricey. But the store was clean. I haven't been in a while and noticed the perfumes and cologne's aren't on the counter to sample like they were in the past. Maybe they changed it after COVID. My favorite department was the shoe section. There were so many sparkly shoes. I was in shiny heaven. If I could buy everything with a rhinestone I would. I'll definitely be back to purchase some shoes. It's pretty much like any other department store. They have home goods, clothes, shoes, perfume, makeup, and more. Check them out!! read more

I love the many many different styles and brands of shoes they offer. Today they were having a huge shoe sale, there racks upon racks of styles to pick from. There were shoes that were so fancy they looked like something from a fashion show. There was one pair that I absolutely fell in love with but I knew that I would probably not have an opportunity to wear them. I enjoyed their show department so much that I sat down and just stared at the shoes. Also, the ladies working in the show department were very attentive to their customers. Good job read more

There was a problem with the registers when my boyfriend and I went to look at shoes. We wanted to see if they had two pairs of shoes in my size. It took us 35 minutes to be able to speak with someone who could help us because there was not enough staff there and because of the register issue. When we were helped, however, we had great customer service from Wayne. He was very helpful and went above and beyond to look for the styles in my shoe size. While the styles I liked were not available in my size, I really appreciated his effort and customer service. I'll go back another time and see if the process is smoother. read more

Because I live so nearby I've been to this Dillard's about a million times. There is usually plenty of parking in the entrance to Dillard's at Lynnhaven Mall so even if I'm going somewhere else in the mall I usually park outside of Dillard's. I've already written a review of the Dillard's at MacArthur Center so it's much the same. I love to come here for classy business dresses and shoes for work. Currently obsessed with Gianni Bini who is exclusive I think to Dillard's. His shoes are fantastic. I also like the Vince Camuto and Antonio Milani as well. read more

I usually don't like to leave negative reviews but this one needs to be posted. My daughter's best friend (who is like a daughter to me) was able to buy a new dress for the homeschool prom this year, she saved up her hard-earned money. The last 2 homeschool proms, she bought her dress at a thrift store. She was so happy, she was able to buy a new one & decided to purchase one from Dillard's. On prom night, she was on her way to the venue (She was by herself) & all of the sudden her straps broke. Thankfully, she found a place she could pull off of the road, she had to tie the straps which is pretty sad for a $160+ dress. Can you imagine how upset she was, how hard she worked for that dress????? I suggested to her to call Dillard's (Lynnhaven Mall) & explain to them what happened, they may give you some credit (IMHO, they should have refunded her money) but they shut her down completely, couldn't do anything for her. I emailed Dillard's when that happened, I haven't heard anything from them, it's been over 2 weeks. Shame on Dillard's & I will never buy another dress nor anything else from there ever again. My daughter has 2 more years left, 2 more proms. I will be letting everyone know what happened. read more

I always love the clothes at Dillard's! They are beautiful, well made, and affordable. The frequent and generous sales make the clothes far more inexpensive than in other big department stores, despite featuring many of the same designers. The staff at this particular location was so helpful, complementing the clothes we were purchasing as we were checking out. Yes, Dillards is a chain department store. Yes, as a young fashionably conscious person, their clothing often falls into the "my grandmother picked this out for me" category. But the Lynnhaven Mall location, has something special. Awesome sales! As a former employee, I picked up on these deep discounts, but you just have to know when to shop. At the end of each season, they have a shockingly awesome sale: items already marked down to 75% off are given an extra discount of 75% off taken at the register. Not kidding! I got a shirt for $2.35. For under $3, I turned a grandma picked this out shirt, into part of a hot outfit in my closet. So my fellow discount divas, I implore you to visit Dillards. Visit and interrogate your sales person (who has a sales quota so he/she will be more than willing to engage in conversation) and get the scoop on the next "Extra 75% off sale". You may have to search for your fashion finds, but at 150% off (that's really bad math) you can't beat it! read more

I really like shopping at Dillard's but I had the worst customer service in this location! I had went in the fitting room to try on two dresses on my daughter and when I came out the department store manager asked if I had put them back instead of asking did they work out, the whole time my friend had them in her hand and the lady kept looking at the racks and after I told her my friend had them in her hand she said OOH and walked away!!! that to me was so insulting! They need better training on how to approach customers! read more

Man, I love this place! I don't think they sell anything that is poor quality. I must have hit them at a good time because the sales racks were boasting great discounts. This was only supposed to be a short window shopping venture while my iPhone was undergoing repair. That's not exactly what happened. Once again, I left with more than I intended. In this case, one item would have been more but I won't go into what I left with. Even so, the deals were too good to pass up. Dillard's carries good brand clothing, shoes, fragrances, makeup, home goods, and more. I haven't yet purchased anything from them that was poor quality. Let me not fail to mention that I was assisted by saleswoman, Darlene Riley, who went above and beyond. She opened a dressing room for me and hung my clothing in there while I continued to shop. She went to other departments to find clothing items for me to try when I inquired about where to find them. She was so very nice, I almost want to go back just to chat with her. If you shop in the ladies department, make sure you ask for her for the best service. I am a satisfied customer! read more

Was in town for the 4th of July weekend and wanted a pair of ugg slides and found the pair I wanted plus the sales associate brought out another pair that didn't even hit the floor yet, he was so helpful and since we aren't from the area he told us about some cool places to visit with our children! Dillard's department store at Lynnhaven mall is a great men's shop location among other things. I've been very happy with the selection of suits and shirts there of late. It never hurts to get things on sale either! Dillard's often runs a sale on top of a sale. I recently bought a $900 suit for a little over $200! After the 50% off sale they'll give an additional 30% which is insane! For someone that keeps up with men's fashion you can find things here that will meet your base needs, for the average businessman you'll be happy. The shoe department is also quite a nice little shop of it's own. I grabbed a couple pairs of suede wing tips (red and blue) for the spring on sale. They have an acceptable selection of styles and brands. My wife is a huge fan of Dillard's for the shoe department also. In the 15 minutes we stood around waiting for someone to help us in the shoe department, we saw 4 different associates in the area. In that time we were passed by several associates. One of which asked the woman standing 5 feet from us if she needed help and then turned around and left without even acknowledging us. Then we saw 3 of them just standing around the cash register. Seeming to just be chatting. All of them had looked in our direction but yet none of them asked if we needed help. Then two of them left the store. We knew exactly what we wanted but gave up and left the store at that point. After we left we saw the two associates that left at the pretzel stand. Recently stopped into Dillard's at Lynnhaven to purchase a new pair of boots for the fall, and I was so pleasantly surprised with the outstanding customer service. I went to the store with an idea of what I wanted, but wasn't quite set on the pair. Caylin in the shoes department helped me find the absolute perfect boots for me. Through all of the different shoes that didn't quite work and contemplating between brown or black boots, she was extremely patient with me the whole time. My wonderful but terribly flat-footed husband needed dressy leather sandals and sneakers. He was able to buy his Born sandals there, but not his sneakers. Mr. Valentine, the salesman suggested a brand that would support his flat feet AND make his size 12 feet look 2 sizes smaller. He was right about the brand of sneakers. I've been going to this department store for years, without any incidents. Today's visit and experience would make me wonder why I would ever shop there again. I purchased a skirt there last week, in the petite department. I decided to return the skirt (because that's my preference as a paying customer) with the official tags and receipt give to me at time of purchase. Because I'm on my lunch break, I decided to go to the nearest register, which was juniors. The young lady informed me that I needed to return upstairs. I explained to her that I was pressed for time. She told me that was the department rule, that I must return to the dept I purchased the skirt. I further explained to her that I was not told to my any returns to the department I purchase from and that information is not posted anywhere within the store. She called someone, who she referenced as a manager by the name of Kim. Who finally came and drilled me about the purchase. Without introducing herself, she started to examine the dress very closely and telling me that a tag was missing and why was I returning it. I told her that the skirt and tags were just as I received them on the day of purchase from a person named Maria who offered excellent customer service. After such negative experience, I decided to ask her name so that I could share this review. I hate to be treated so poorly. The like of respect should not be tolerated if you're in a customer service role. She should remember that we can all take our business elsewhere. read more
