He came up with some convoluted explanation about the wall of the cabinet needing to be rebuilt, the dishwasher needing to be removed, the wall next to it needing to be totally rebuilt ,the adjacent door also needing to be taken off, then needing to repaint the doors .....and on and on. Another workman showed me that the screw just needed tightening and refused to even charge me for such a ridiculously small 'repair'! He guaranteed his work for a year. The tile work he did on one tub has resulted in puddling on the floor every time the shower is used. It's been 3 months since he was paid in full for ALL of his work. Two weeks ago I contacted him to fix the puddling problem. No response ! Since my call to him the puddling is only one of a number of things that that he worked on that isn't working properly! His "WARRENTEE " isn't worth much since he doesn't respond even 3 months into the first yr! Must of been his wife or mother who wrote the favorable review before mine. The estimate was thorough and Jimmy took time to explain everything involved. Jimmy went above and beyond on this bathroom renovation. The tile work was excellent, as was the installation of the tub. I special ordered a cast iron tub which Jimmy and his team picked up and delivered. The bathroom was renovated three months ago. Since that time, I've had different people visit the house and I shared pictures of the bathroom online and everyone was super impressed. So I decided to not take the gamble and go cheap and slow. So I decided to go with Ascension for a couple of reasons. One reason is because I had a good customer service experience with Ascension Home Contractors before. The confusion was on how the tiles was to be laid on the Salon floor with stencils or not. Well after half the ceramic floor was already set and pasted on the 1200 sqft. floor. It didn't look like the way I wanted. So I told Jimmy the owner that I didn't like it. Without an augment as I expected from many. Jimmy gathered his team the next day and picked up about 600 sqft. ceramic tile and reinstalled it the way I wanted. The second reason is that Ascension is like a one stop shop. They do everything. They will project management for you so you do not have to stress and find other contractors. If you need junk removal, house cleaning, tree cutting, or anything related. Ascensions have the resources to get the job done the right way and fast. Yeah I paid more of the top end for Ascension but I had peace of mind and got the job done the right way with out the worry that someone may do a bad job or run off with my money. I had a few Handymen that does work that was not insured or licensed. So be careful about that. Those are the people that may not have a big team but will give you a lower price and you will just have to take a gamble with. Upon removal, I noticed that the stairs were not only badly damaged (from a previous owner's work), but were failing in multiple areas when accessed underneath. This was no longer a home improvement project, but now became a safety issue. I contacted Jonathan on a Tuesday afternoon letting him know that we had a staircase that was in need of repair. I reached out to 10 companies (that listed on their Yelp reviews that they offered carpentry) requesting a carpenter or carpentry skills, but only Jonathan and another company indicated that they could repair stairs that were damaged and in need of repair. The other company was not as responsive and indicated that they were fully booked through the summer, and that they didn't have the time. After texting and calling Jonathan throughout the day Tuesday, Jonathan indicated that he would come out the following morning to assess the damage with one of his highly skilled employees. Jonathan and his skilled carpenter were timely and direct in what needed addressed. He indicated that we would replace 10 of the 13 treads, and that they would reinforce all of the stairs underneath with 2x4's and other materials. Jonathan and his skilled carpenter were not only efficient, timely, and responsive, but the quality exceeded all expectations. Jonathan's carpenter worked nonstop Wednesday (not even a break!) and finished ahead of schedule on Thursday. The high quality work was much more than we had anticipated, and the price was reasonable (considering the urgency and timing). I highly recommend Jonathan and his company.
