It was definitely a stressful situation, but Lee was very helpful and responsive to my questions and requests. Although Lee did not perform the job himself, Ivan and his team came out to repair the drywall and replace the carpet. Ivan was really great - he was courteous and efficient throughout the whole project, which took about 1.5 days to complete. Some highlights were: 1) The crew was able to start working almost immediately after I called Master's Construction. 2) Ivan worked very hard to find the closest match to my existing carpet. It sounded like he was checking out quite a few places until he found someone all the way in Richmond that had our carpet! (FYI, I live in Falls Church.) 3) Ivan ended up re-painting all the walls of my bedroom to ensure that the paint color was consistent throughout. Alex came to our house and gave us an estimate to repair our front steps and told us they would last a very long time. A few days later, his workers showed up, unannounced, asking what they needed to do. I told them I have no idea, and my husband is not home, and to coordinate a time with him. A few days later (on a Sunday), they showed up unannounced again! My husband was out again! They asked me to pick a paint color and I asked if that is included in the price we were quoted and they said they didn't know. As I was trying to figure that out, it came out that they don't think repairing the stairs is a good idea and they can't even guarantee they won't break again for even 3 days. I asked if it would be a lot more expensive to redo the whole thing and they said it would be exponentially more expensive. I told them we'll talk to Alex and get back to them. 30 minutes later, Alex calls my husband screaming at him! He told him that we shouldn't ask his contractors about prices and that he doesn't work that way and that we should find someone else to work with and hung up the phone on my husband! He was literally screaming at my husband on the phone. And then hung up on him. There are so many issues with our experience starting with the fact that the workers kept showing up without prior notice and asking a lot of questions as if they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. And then of course the fact that he was trying to scam us into doing something that he knew might not even last the week. And then finally, calling my husband and screaming at him and hanging up on him because his workers were asking us a lot of questions?! It's just been an atrocious experience. I recommend avoiding him at all costs. UPDATE: Alex is now threatening my husband over text messages because of our review. We are just stating facts. He said we are inappropriate to contact him on a Sunday when it was his contractors who showed up at our doorstep, unannounced, on a Sunday, and we were just calling to clear things up with him because they had no idea what they were supposed to do and were asking me a lot of questions. He also accused us of trying to strike a deal with his subcontractors, something that didn't cross our minds for one second. Lofft was not the cheapest estimate I received but based on my meeting with Alex and previous reviews, I decided to hire them for my work. Very happy with my decision. The project began and ended exactly on schedule. Eric and Freddie were easy to work with, dependable, did a fantastic job and kept the worksite clean during the project. This was supposed to be a two-day project. However, it quickly turned into an almost 2-week project! Once Julio removed the door, things changed...for the worst and then got better. He could have just completed the job he was contracted for, but he explained that he found major water damage. He said he could not in good faith just install the door. Sharing this unfortunate information could have made me stop the project immediately and sharing this unfortunate information could have loss money for his company, but it's not solely about the money for Julio, it's more about integrity. His reputation of trying to always do what is right and do it well. So, he removed and replaced all of the rotted wood first. Julio told me not to worry, he would work with me, and he would make sure everything was completed accurately, efficiently and that I would be very pleased with the results. He was right. I love the outcome! I never had to wonder what was going on, Julio communicated every step of the way, and he even took pictures. His team, Diego and Julio Jr., were punctual, professional and very easy to work with. I trusted them to do what we agreed would be done. I provided a picture of the color scheme and the solid hardwood floors that I desired. The hardwood floors were a line item in the contract. I also sent an email of the type of solid hardwood floors that I would like from Home Depot to the Project Manager. This company pulled a bait and switch and installed fake hardwood floors when I paid for real hardwood floors. The Project Manager sent me an email stating it was an "oversight". I requested a refund of $6,000; I paid over $15,000 for flooring labor and allowance throughout my house. The company responded, stating that I have a beautiful home and to go and enjoy it. So, after saying it was an "oversight" they failed to take ANY corrective action for this deception. Buyer beware!

They ended up replacing a copper sewer pipe (our house is from the 60s) running from the upstairs bathroom down to the kitchen pantry. Not only were SVC's prices far more affordable than the nearest bid by a huge margin, but they completed every task up to my high standards. Sandro handled all aspects of the renovation including the design, architectural drawings, permitting, sourcing materials, and building. Only the structural engineering was outsourced (to a structural engineer). My only complaint is that the project took slightly longer than estimated.
