I think I am a weird donut binge...I went in today for a few donuts and while the place isn't extraordinary looking it is clean and well kept. As soon as I walked in I smelled wonderful donutness and was greeted by a wonderfully nice young lady. I went in around 230 PM and there were still many wonderfully fresh donuts. I ordered 1/2 a dozen and as I was checking out the lady threw in 2 more for free. I went home and had one and was in heaven...I had a eclair donut and it was wonderfully filled (I have had some other ones at other places that were hardly filled). I am always absolutely amazed when donut shops get a 5 star rating. They are donuts, they are fried in oil. If a donut establishment makes a decent product they stay in business, if not, your out of business! I have had my fair share of Donuts at many establishments, Dimples makes a decent donut, they are able to keep the coffee brewing, the cooking oil hot and the neon signs lit, and that's it! It's a donut. I stop in from time to time usually to pick up an order placed the day before for a dozen or two or three. generally for business purposes. For the most part the order is never ready and then I view a frantic gab and go by the attendant, handfuls of pink frosted donuts, plain donuts, the nasty tasting brown icing donuts and the dreaded cinnamon crumb donut...a bountiful harvest of what doesn't sell quickly. I'm not what you'd call the biggest fan of donuts. Honestly, when it comes to breakfast food, it's pretty much bacon or GTFO. On occasion, I do have a hankering for a fried ring of dough. Husband and I have been to Dimples twice and both times were good. Not great. I like that everything is homemade, and they have a killer buttermilk donut, but their yeast donuts leave a lot to be desired. Maybe it's because we get there later on weekends (if you'd call 9 am late) so we get the sort of "donut dregs" if you will. Still, the owners are super friendly and we'll probably visit again. FYI: they do take credit cards but under $10 is a $1 charge, but they give you a donut to make up for it. Plan accordingly. read more

This is my favorite donut shop I have ever been to. When compared to a large chain like Dunkin Donuts, Dimples is the clear choice. While there may not be as much variety as a large chain would have, the quality is the biggest difference. The donuts here are all delicious, especially the cake donuts. I have never had a cake donut anywhere that came close to the ones at Dimples. I don't know what they do to make it so delicious, but I don't really care. The service is always great. There have been a couple of times where I was even given a handful of free donut holes to go along with my purchase, which was always appreciated. The only downside is probably that their selection goes down as the day progresses. If you show up after the typical breakfast rush then your favorite type of donut might be missing, though that is understandable considering the size of the shop. read more

I have been to this place twice. One time at the St Charles location where the lady was very rude. Possibly she had a bad morning but she was not pleasant or even friendly in anyway at 6:30 am. She continued to say everything was EXTRA. I did get donuts and they were not that great for anything to pay extra for. There are places I would pay extra for not these though. I decided to try the Batavia location. I just wanted a dozen donuts. Doesn't seem that hard. Except there are all kinds of rules to the dozen donuts. You can only have 1 of these, 2 those, Maximum 3 in a dozen. WHY????? I get specialty donuts but an old fashion, or a boston cream not to mention the many other that have rules. Why does it need to be that hard. I ask if there is a price for a dozen donuts that includes maybe 6 regular or 6 of what they consider special donuts, there is not. I did not even bother with the donuts because the last time they were not that great and a dozen donuts should not be that complicated. There is always country donuts elgin, dunk donuts in Melrose Park, Blue Goose, and stans if you want to pay extra. read more

Dimples Donuts is everything! Perfect place for kids, adults, and all people who love donuts! This place is really good! They have plenty of flavors! But my favorite is their Blueberry and the one glazed with sugar. Also, the plain one is worth trying. Really love and am amazed at how they made their donuts. Super soft and the quality says it all. The whole place has a great atmosphere, especially the interior. Very relaxing and enjoyable. They have plenty of seating, the aisle is wide, and the designs around are cool. Well-maintained spot! The folks here are also awesome, all of them are friendly, helpful, and personable. They will always smile at you. They will even greet you upon entering the place. Dimples Donuts is phenomenal! Best donut place in the whole area. I have never been to any place like this. So happy to have this place nearby. Definitely worth it! I'm giving this place a 5-star because their donuts are the best! Very affordable and the portions are big. Pricing aside, this place is really worth visiting! I've been to dimples, god knows how many times and all I can say is, they DO have the best donuts in town! My favorites have got to be the fruitsticks, glazed old fashioned and their bearpaws (they make them look like an actual bear paw). Aside from the tastiest donuts, their customer service is up to par and not to mention they've won a bunch of awards years after years. There's always a long line when I stop by, not sure if it's the timing. Give it a try, the calorie is way worth it!!! read more

This place sucks. I drove 45 minutes to try since there really aren't any good donut places near me, and I saw this had decent reviews. Ended up paying $10 for a half dozen small donuts. They are super greasy and overly doughy. They leave a nasty slick in your mouth after taking a bite. I tried the old fashioned first and it was mushy and tasted like it had been soaked in a McDonald's French fry tank. Jelly one was also horrible, as was the custard filled, which had a gross aftertaste and was also very greasy. The dough tastes like biting into a large hunk of uncooked pizza dough. Ended up throwing most of them out, because they aren't even worth the effort it takes to chew them. Also, you will have to run to the store and spend an additional $5 on a family sizing bottle of mouthwash to get the gross taste out of your mouth. Save your money. Don't come here. read more

What happened to this place? I've been a loyal customer for over 30 years having grown up 3 blocks away. I just don't think I can frequent this business after today though. The quality has been falling off, and today I was UPCHARGED for getting a dozen donuts. I was told because I bought the last of the long johns I would need to pay the individual donut price. I was willing to let some of the shortcoming go but enough is enough. The quality is hit or miss. Some days the donuts taste like old oil, or the icing is running off the top, or they just carelessly smash all the donuts together in the box. The store is dirty with boxes stacked everywhere making what few tables are there unavailable to customers. The staff, once so courteous, are rude and short. I'll still have the fond memories of riding my bike here with friends as a child, or going after church, but I will no longer give this place my $$. It's a shame read more

Errrmaaaahhhgaawwwddd donutssss! I recently watched a show on the food network that featured a few of the best shops in the country and so for the past 3 days, I've been craving a donut. I usually only get donuts a few times per year so I was ready for a cheat and man did I go all out! I made fun of my brother for ordering a bear claw since we were there for the donuts but that was the best one out of the box. It reminded me of grandma's sticky and sweet cinnamon rolls except all of the ooey goodness was trapped on the inside with the sweet aroma of apple cinnamon. I'm a big fan of the cake donuts so I also loved the chocolate coconut and the crumb cake. Thank you dimples for hitting the spot! OMG! Absolutely the best donuts ever! When I bring them to the office they're gone instantly. Taste is absolutely remarkable. I haven't had a donut from there that I didn't love. My favorites are the eclairs, old fashioned donuts and vanilla cream filled - heavenly! I agree with the other post - go early as they're gone by the afternoon. I never knew about Dimples Donuts until I began to work in Batavia. At first, I LOVED Dimples, and would go very often. My boss had never been a fan because they upset his stomach every time. I went so often that I began to get sick of them, so i did not go for months. Today, I picked up half a dozen for my co-workers and myself. I was charged over $7; an extra dollar because I used my debit card and it was under $10. After this experience, I honestly don't think I would be going back.The donuts are very small, and besides the cake donuts they are not filling what so ever. I have deffinitely had better, bigger, more filling donuts for much cheaper that taste just as good, or better. read more

Loved the donuts so much that went back for more but to my disappointment they were out of donuts! I was there by 8:30 am so I was really surprised to find NOT one donut available to purchase! I was a little frustrated that I made the journey specifically to get some donuts for some out of town visitors that I had staying with us. Wouldn't you think that a business would plan better? Too bad but I am not sure I would go back if it meant I am taking a chance that they even have any donuts available. I guess you have to be there when they open at 5 am to be certain to get some. Ok, it's a donut shop. But, the people who say it's "just" a donut shop really don't understand how special a place this is. They make their donuts from scratch. With quality ingredients. I like plain donuts, and their plain donuts are spectacular. When fresh they melt I your mouth. They make whipped cream filled donuts with real cream, and custard donuts filled with real custard. The red velvet donuts are moist and the buttermilk donuts are rich. If you like, they have breakfast sandwiches. Now, the donuts are really really good, but the star of the show is the always effervescent and friendly lady behind the front desk, Lena. She's always ready to give five-star service with her sparkling smile. Make sure you go earlier rather than later, because once the donuts are gone, they close for the day. Seems strange, but they never sell stale stuff. They have been here 29 years, and that's 14 years longer than I've been coming here. The family that runs the place is committed to making the best donuts in the fox valley. And it shows in the awards they have posted on the wall- best donuts in the fox valley five years running. So, my friends, calling this "just" a donut shop is like saying the Sears tower is ls "just" a building, or the Hawks are "just" a hockey team or the Batavia Bulldogs are "just" a high school football team. Every single time I go in there they are out of donuts. It doesn't matter what time. I was in there this morning at 8 AM and they had absolutely nothing I came home with four donuts. How do you stay open until 1 PM when your shelves are empty. This is so frustrating. I will probably never go in again because I can never get what I want. If you want to stay in business and keep your customers your shelves should be stocked. We've lived in Batavia for over 30 years so we've been customers since their beginning. They were the best, hands down. Everything about them was great. The chocolate icing was always SO good. A delicious chocolate flavor that couldn't be beat. The consistency was perfect! All of their icings were lickable good. They made a quality donut with quality icings! The past few years, however, maybe after opening other locations, they were lacking. Once I actually had raw centers & other times they tasted oily. I brushed it off to new employees not fully trained maybe? Regardless, I wasn't giving up so I let the raw center slide and went back again. That is how much I loved these donuts! They were hit or miss and I would chance it, because they were the best donuts I've ever had. Today, however, has changed that. My husband brought home 1/2 a dozen. Although the maple icing was perfect, the chocolate icing looked different. It was darker and thinner than usual and the it tasted very "off". It was bitter and nothing about it made me want to devour it. If I were to guess where he got them, I would never guess Dimples. The donut texture was good, but I only tasted old oil. It made me very sad. This felt like a huge change, like severe cutting back on quality. I actually went online to see if they sold the business. I plan to occasionally check Yelp for any positive reviews about a Dimples "comeback", but as of right now, they're gone to me. This makes me sad. Very sad. read more
