Sausage, bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich with hashbrowns

Incredible food and service! The bakery counter is amazing!! So many options and everything is delicious. With a supper club feel with a salad bar I highly recommend Harner's! Today I got the sausage patty, bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich with a side of hashbrowns.

a place so good you'll come back the very next day! i'm in town for work and am so happy to have found this delicious bakery and restaurant. they are family owned and have been around for years. they have an amazing bakery with so many options, i took a few for my coworkers and had to come back the next day to try more. reasonably priced and amazing service; you feel right at home when you visit Harner's! [[HIGHLIGHT]]it's located in such a nice area also where you can talk a little stroll and look at the lake, or follow along the Fox River trail to burn off those donuts lol![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Harner's, how have I not tried you sooner? I'm not sure if you're an amazing bakery with a restaurant or an amazing restaurant with a bakery? Either way, you rock! My bride and I both had the Denver Omelette, there was a $1 up charge for the most amazing raisin bread toast that I highly recommend. The Omelette was fluffy, cheese nicely melted and a just right amount onions, green peppers and a more than generous amount of ham. Our server mad sure our coffee cups were always filled and was very friendly. It's a good thing we made our bakery purchases before having breakfast as they had an excellent selection. After breakfast it looked like a swam of locusts invaded as many of the previously full shelves were empty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is an old school charm to Harner's, as it opened in 1960.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] An amazing place that's definitely worth the trip.

    Turkey Sandwich

Was in the area on a Sunday and wanted soup. Harner's fit the requirements including homemade meals. I had ordered a turkey sandwich and a cup of mushroom soup. My guest had the lasagna special. I also ordered a danish pastry to take home. My tip is to check out the bakery. They do charge a fee for credit card users!

I'm very appreciative of the rep that brought donuts to work. This review is based only on the donuts because Harners sells other baked goods and is also a restaurant. I had a few donuts from the variety box and found them to be okay just not the type of donuts that are my preference. Definitely better than DD though!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nestled along the Fox River in North Aurora, this country-style restaurant offers warmth & comfort.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu offers an extensive selection that can take some time to peruse, esp for those who don't frequent the establishment. Each visit tends to revolve around their hearty meatloaf, which is a true comfort food. It is paired perfectly with the rich cheddar cheese at the salad bar & a tempting array of baked goods from the display. Despite the busy dinner service, our waitress skillfully juggled the needs of several tables, she remained attentive & friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant transforms into a lively gathering spot on weekend evenings when it fills up quickly, so be prepared for a wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They don't accept reservations.

    Hot roast beef sandwich

I have wanted to come here for years, I have admired their amazing bakery at various family functions. My sister in law always has a coffee cake from Harner's on Christmas and it's truly one of the greatest cakes I have ever eaten. I just knew the restaurant would be great. It's very.... kina old school lunchroom meat and potatoes food. They have something called a pig roast on one day a week and I NEED to come back for that, I don't know anything about it other than I need it in my life. We came for lunch with family, I really wanted to get something with the salad bar, I love that they still have one, but it was early and the dinner would have been too much. They sold me with a steamship round of beef... I'm a sucker for a huge roast beef and the hot roast beef sandwich was right up my alley. It was perfect in every way, just as I remember eating as a child. Perfectly roasted beef, tender and with incredible flavor on white bread covered in brown gravy with mashed potatoes. The beef was awesome, the bread was great, the gravy was amazing and perfect mashed potatoes. I can't wait to go back.

Do you still make specialty cakes?

I got my last one about 2 years ago. I would imagine they still do.

I would say No..but the menu changes..If this is what you like/want call them ahead of time..

    Are they open on Thanksgiving?

Sorely NO. I called and asked as I wanted to go there too but they are not open. Would have been great if they were!

They never take reservations... even for large groups. I've tried and they used my photos from this page on their menu and website without asking. 😆

Recently they helped provide some pastries and cookies for a baby shower brunch. We had the cinnamon rolls, blueberry bread and lemon bread. All were delicious. They were individually wrapped and so adorably decorated. They were also delicious. (I forgot to take a picture before people started taking them so the giraffe is missing.) It's so nice to find a delicious bakery that is family run and local. And so much better than the grocery stores or chain donut shops and bakeries.

Been searching far and wide for a new place as we recently moved from AZ and can't find anything that comes close to the donuts we have back home. I would say this place comes pretty close. I surprised my wife with a box of glazed. They were not what we were used to but good nonetheless. Reminded me of a hostess honey bun but not with the super thick icing. But the cinnamon sugar donuts had me on cloud 9. My son and I devoured them in two. I was disappointed that I only got us 2. Safe to say definitely going back to get some more.

Those items are a bit pricier than the rest but they are quite unique. The cruffins are flakey, sugary without being overwhelming, creamy but subtle, and very satisfying. I have a strong sweet tooth and I am greedy. So I generally like to try more than one item in one sitting. These portions are not small and I would recommend sharing if you want to try a variety. There are vegetarian options - vegetarian panini, spinach/cheese empanadas; papas con huancaina, (delicious Peruvian cheese sauce) and apparently if you ask, she'll make something like the beef sandwich with tofu. I got two spinach/cheese empanadas, a chocolate alfajor (several flavors available); a key lime tart, a pavlova, and some chicha morada. I've never seen pavlova in a bakery; she filled a meringue shell with cream and fruit, and it was indeed delightful, certainly worth coming back for in spring when strawberries/fresh fruit is at its peak. The alfajor was crisp/crumbly and not too sweet; the empanadas are baked, not fried, and she warmed them up. It's more spinach than cheese, but quite respectable. The key lime pie was also respectable, with a crumbly crust; the filling was tasty but more of it would be good. The owner was super helpful, walking me through my options and noting that unfortunately yes, most of the cheesecakes have gelatin in them. I'll certainly be back to try her huancaina, get some more cookies, and maybe snag an Inca Cola.
