I ripped the zipper on my vintage Vera Wang dress and called every other tailor in the city and everyone said it would take 2 weeks except for Dina. I dropped the dress of Monday afternoon and she got it done by Wednesday morning. She's super sweet and I will be coming back! read more

This has been a great experience for a tailor shop. I came in and got recommended on what to do and the service was fast and great as well. I think I found the best place for alterations. Miss Dina said in her thirty+ years of alterations, she'd never seen a wedding dress with NOTHING in place to tuck up the train. Do not trust this shop with anything you value. There is poor communication and poor workmanship. Certainly don't trust this shop with a dress you need to wear because she will ruin it or just simply not complete the job. I took a ball gown here for alterations a month prior to my event. We discussed a plan for a minor modification to the shoulders. When I picked the dress up, it was bunched in a ball in the back (I saw her grab it) and it was wrinkled AND the alterations we discussed were not complete, instead she did something completely different. Pickup was the day of my event. The dress was backless and the shoulders were too large and the sleeves would fall, she suggested that she would put a small elastic piece inside to help hold them up....instead she made a very large and visible stitch to fold the shoulder about an inch in on itself...creating a loop and a bulge instead...it looked horrible and brought the neckline of the dress up onto my neck and rendered the dress unwearable. I didn't take pics because my ball was in a few hours and I had her immediately undo the mistake so I could make it to the ball. I had to wear the dress baggy as a result. She explained why her original idea wouldn't work, which made sense, but she did not contact me or reach out to approve the new idea which was honestly poor quality and not professional work at all. It was sloppy with threading everywhere....for a 500-dollar dress! She could have told me she couldn't do the job and I could have gone somewhere else but she was silent and it ruined the dress that night. I wasn't rude, I was polite and calm but when I pointed out to her that I had tried on the dress and it was unwearable, she took it back, said she'd undo it, and handed me back my money. No offer to fix it later or an apology...she is rude. read more

I patronized Dina's due to its proximity to my house. Next time, I will journey a little farther to find a place with better customer service. I brought in a pair of jeans to be taken in. They were inexpensive (read: cheap) jeans that would certainly stretch even after they were taken in. I knew this, but Dina lectured me that it wasn't worth taking the jeans in (even though it costs less than $10 to do so.) I told her I appreciated the information, but still wanted the jeans taken in. She was very rude after that. When I went to pick up the jeans, I only had $5 on me. The credit card minimum was $10, and my total was $7. Initially, she refused to take my credit card. However, she wouldn't take $5 for the $7 bill. Eventually, she accepted my card. She is amazing! She fitted my dress in a short time to go on a cruise. She has years of expertise. Yes she is very...very outspoken( but that is because she is old and set in her ways) but that is because she know EXACTLY what she is doing. Much respect. If you want someone to smile and laugh and make nice with you, this is not the place. However, if you would like your clothes to be dry cleaned, altered, and ready on time, and at a good price, I can recommend it highly as I have been going there for years. Excellent alterations! I brought 2 dress shirts here to have the sleeves shortened a bit. Dina is a bit rough around the edges, she's been here since before Katrina so don't be put off by that. I would give 0 stars but the damn program won't let me. This was the worst service I've ever had at a dry cleaner and possibly at anything. Dina was combative and entirely unapologetic about temporarily losing a huge portion of my business clothes, which I had dropped off in one order. She refused to take responsibility for the problem, refused to acknowledge that I was upset, and refused to provide me with any compensation or discount for my difficulties, despite my clothes being worth a fair amount and my repeated protestations that she was literally leaving me pants-less for the week. The establishment is filthy, Dina is unremittingly rude, and the service is awful. After a pair of pants was not returned, Dina lied repeatedly, first claiming to have done me a favor by getting the other two items returned and that the pants would be back the following Monday, then when I returned on Monday and found that she still did not have them, she claimed that someone else had lost them, then cursed at me in broken english and threw me out of her little hovel. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I went there to have something altered she was very, very rude. As I attempted to place my phone on the counter, she said I had her waiting all of 2seconds!! I asked her why are you so rude...she replied you can go somewhere else. Which is what I did!!!
