I took a uniform jacket that was too big that I needed tailored ASAP for a special event. She basically disassembled the jacket, cut it everywhere, and sewed it back together for a perfect fit. I had several mishaps with my rental tuxedo for a wedding here in NoLa. Long story short, I needed emergency hems on my jacket and pants in less than 24 hours. I called them before I flew in and they said that they can take me right away and can turn around the hem same day. I showed up around 11 AM and it was a quick and easy fitting. A short 4 hours later, I got the call saying that it was ready. I was so thrilled that they moved me to the top of the queue in my dire tuxedo emergency. Later in the week when I found a gorgeous velvet dress on sale that almost fit, I decided to take a chance and buy it to see if this shop could alter it. Again, their work and promptness were truly exceptional. The dress fit like a glove after they tailored it. Their tailor's skill and attention to detail are hard to find, and I should know, I love fashion hunting so I have a tendency of buying outfits when I travel and then looking to get them altered later. I came here to get a dress taken out, but there wasn't enough fabric to do so. :( oh well! The guy was friendly though.

Well, the shop is definitely small with the bulk of it being the size of a typical hallway with 2 very tiny changing rooms. there are chairs for you to sit while waiting for your turn at the mirror. there's only one person who does the pinning, so be prepared to wait a while if you're here during your lunch break. the tailor was very nice and knowledgable judging by what she was telling this one guy about his suit (someone pinned it for him and he took it here, and she said alterations don't work like that). i waited about 20 minutes to be fitted, and all i needed were two jeans hemmed up. i could do it myself, but who am i kidding? so she folds up the extra 100 ft (exaggeration, of course) of fabric from my jeans because i'm just sooo short and that was pretty much it. i also needed to get a zipper fixed on a pair of jeans. my 3 jeans were ready the following the week, and she explained to me what the charges were: $27 - 2 jeans hemmed (original seam) $15 - 1 jean needed new zipper, so she put on an extra sturdy one she did a great job, but the original hem part was a tad overpriced in my opinion. i'd still recommend Gonzales though =) read more

I have been to a couple tailors here and was always disappointed until I found Gonzales on the recommendation of a friend. I was helped quickly and at a reasonable price for the work done. Everything was finished three days before I told them I needed it (I was told he wanted to leave time to make adjustments if I was not satisfied...but this proved unnecessary as the work was great) I would definitely recommend this store and that's saying a lot. While their tailoring is decent, their service is absolutely awful. On my first (and last) visit they were not even there when their opening times stated they would be open. Thirty minutes passed and they finally showed up. I was having one pair of pants hemmed. No one ever called to let me know they pants were ready. I called them and when I got the pants they didn't have a way for me to pay. I wanted to use my credit card but they said it had to be at least $20.00 for them to use my card. I told them to just charge me the $20.00. I was then told their machine didn't work and to just mail them a check. I mailed a check out the next day. They called me two weeks later and said I hadn't paid my bill. I told them I sent them a check and they said, "we don't take checks." I went back to the business to pay my $20.00 for the pants. Plus, $20.00 FOR ONE PAIR OF PANTS? Give me a break! If the customer service was better then they would get a great review. Make sure you have exact cash or a credit card (if their machine is working). read more

I was in town for a trade show and needed two shirts hemmed in a very short time. I called three other places who turned me down flat and was just about to give up when I called Gonzales. She was very kind on the phone and said she could help me. She rushed them for me and they were ready exactly when I was told they would be. We had a miscommunication about their hours of operation on the pickup day but they stayed at the shop until I got there because they knew I needed the shirts that day. Then they ironed one of them for me (and offered to do both) when they found out I had to wear it immediately. I paid $40, which was a lot, but not at all unreasonable considering I wanted them back in 2 days. I cannot say enough about the wonderful service I received at Gonzales. I wish they were close enough to where I live that I could use them all the time! Highly, highly recommend!! read more

Ms. Tran is the best in the business!!! I'm a Pastor that also has a secular job in the CBD, so I wear suits almost everyday and she keeps me looking sharp.
