Our focused order: har gow, siu mai, bbq pork cheung fun, and grilled shrimp stuffed eggplant
    Elvin C.

Popped in just before heading to the airport to try Dine & Dim out before our next visit. Ordered four things off the iPad - har gow, siu mai, bbq pork cheung fun, and the shrimp stuffed grilled eggplant. It seemed within 5 minutes our food was arriving at the table (as if they knew we were on the clock). All items we ordered were +/- $8 CAN and were of good quality and fresh. Pretty good price since that's comparable to Roi San ($9 = Moon Palace, $10 = Pearl Harbourfront). We had visited on Saturday morning pretty close to noon and no line. It is an option to order simply via the iPad from the full menu to mix and match a meal together rather than stick to dim sum. Easy parking at meter in front adds to the pluses of just staying in East Chinatown if that's closer. One would say they have a more focused dim sum menu while keeping prices down and quality high. And the setting is in no way divey as we sat in the front booth.

Very tasty and fresh dim sum, I really like how clean and spacious the place is considering the location being old Chinatown. Service was also great every one had a positive energy around them. They have their whole menu from dim sum, lunch and dinner on their iPad which you order from. Everything was super tasty, we really enjoyed the squid tentacles which were battered differently compared to a lot of other places, the shrimp rice noodle roll and buns were also super enjoyable. Every dish we had didn't disappoint. Price was a bit on the pricey compared to uptown dim sum. We ordered 6 dim sum dishes which came up to $85 with tip and tax.

The venue was cute. Some fun lighting. They do events upstairs. The servers were friendly but very busy. A large group arrived as we did. The food was good no really liked the hargaw and the lotus leaf was nice. The bbq pork buns were a flavour I've never had before. They were super sweet but the texture was nice.

Amazing dim sum place with unique selections. We got many dishes to share family style. 1. Cuttlefish curry balls (amazing - unique) 2. Fried squid tentacles (my favorite!! Love it!) 3. Mushroom and veggies medley 4. Shrimp Cheung Fan - rice noodle rolls 5. Shrimp Stuffed eggplant (highly recommend) 6. Stuffed tofu skin (the braised juice was heavenly) Every dish we got was amazing. I would recommend every dish listed above. I have an obsession with fried squid tentacles and not many places serves it. I was so happy when my partner found a place with it. This place also did an amazing job with each dish. We were wowed not only by the quality & taste of the food but also the huge portion sizes. This place serves complementary tea and they have condiments such as soy sauce/chili sauce available on each table for self serve. I would love to come back again when we visit Toronto in the future. The location is not in the downtown city area but it was definitely worth a trip away from downtown to get a taste of this amazing dim sum!

My bf were in the neighbourhood so I googled what's good and this restaurant came as too recommended and I can see why! I initially wanted to try the dim sum but it was a bit $$ for just two people so we opted for their lunch specials and it was such a good choice! It came with a rice or noodle dish and a cup of coffee or pop (we got pop). The Chashu & Wonton Noodle Soup was so flavourful! Loved loved the Chashu (my bf ate the wonton and also loved it). He got the General Tao Chicken and it's usually spicy but we requested little to no spice (he's not used to szechuan spice) and it came out the perfect level! He finished this plate in no time. We both walked away very full and happy! The inside was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Definitely recommend coming here! Ps. They served us tea right away even tho we didn't ask and we did get charged per person so if you don't want tea and don't want to get charged - let them know right away.

Tenjin Yokocho is a new sushi spot that opened above the dimsum spot Dine and Dim. Given they have the same owner, we were told we could order from both menus (yay!), though stuck with the Japanese cuisine (since we've already had Dine and Dim, which we loved). Tenjin has a very izakaya vibe in look (wooden tables, darker lighting, even a drumset in the corner) which gets punctured by the bright bubble tea menu (yes, you can get Cha Miao Miao bbt from here too). But we were here for the food and the promise of good torched sushi, so on to that. Overall, Tenjin has a good offering, taste and value wise. We got: - JUZZ torched tray: Enormous! For $49, you get 14 pieces of torched sushi, 2 torched signature rolls and 1 set of ozisushi. Great value! Quality of the torched stuff is also good, with my biggest complaint being there was soooo muuuuch rice on the sushi and rolls (to the point that we halved half of it off when eating the sushi and rolls). - Black Widow: Classic soft shell crab roll but with unagi sauce. Besides having too much rice, this was a definite yum! - Chicken Karaage: Tasty fry, with a great coating-to-meat ratio. Service was quick. Space was well decorated, enormous and clean. Great first showing by Tenjin, and will be interested to see how much more they improve as more people visit them.

This is the spiritual successor of Pearl Court, which used to be in the same premises (the sign is still there, even). They get 3.5 stars Beef XO sauce dry horfun had a good wok flavour & tasty sauce. The onions were very raw & there were only trace amounts of egg though. Clams with black bean sauce were decent. Fish maw & crab soup was pretty good; the fish maw was broken up & the "crab" was crab stick though (but that's no surprise). A small portion feeds 2 & large 10. Bean curd roll with pork: pretty good; the rolls were big & it was a big portion. The rolls were moist. Lotus rice with pork was moist & fragrant. Pan fried chive shrimp dumpling was a touch oily. It had too much chives; there should've been more shrimp. Still, it was decent. Fish stuffed eggplant was actually mostly shrimp. It was decent but a bit oily. The table vinegar here is red, not the usual black.

Curry cuttlefish. Very tender. Huge portion

I'm going to go for 3 and 1/2 stars. Prices have risen again in such a short time. The dim sum could of been hotter. We got: Bean curd roll Crispy shrimp dumpling Stuffed eggplant & sticky rice in lotus leaf.(it used to be two for $6.99) now only one for $4.99. Portions are smaller and price going up. The biggest disappointment was the seafood/tofu hotpot ($19.50). It had absolutely no flavour. The tofu wasn't braised at all. It was thrown in as an after thought. They could really rename this dish bland tofu with some seafood. No Chinese broccoli or ginger/garlic taste. We've gone enough times since it's new owners and have seen a steady decline with the food. Go back to what you were doing at the beginning. Will try one more time and see if it's better. Attentive staff. Tea is now $1.50 per person.

Probably one of the better Chinese restaurants in old Chinatown. I ordered from this place recently to try and now it's my go-to. I would say the $65 two-lobster combo meal (that comes with two other dishes of your choice) is one of the standouts. The lobster option with onion and ginger is legit. Looking forward to more delicious meals from Dine and Dim!

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The TakoYaki was soft and loaded with the delicious sauce. The Gyoza were enormous. We were both 100% satisfied with our visit and will be back for sure.

The concerned server told me that it may be painful, but being the chili head that I am, I gladly took on the challenge. It was a larger bowl than their regular size and my ramen came topped with lots of corn, some mushrooms, bean sprouts and 6 large pieces of chasu. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

I give them great credit for consistency for the most part. However, Close to $50 per person including a takeout tip. You can't order what you order everytime for the well deserved freebie for customer support. I'm done with the over price for a bowl of Noodles and Broth. Plenty of great Ramen places for a third of the price. Three stars for the chefs in the back. It would be five if the Santouka Corporation was so greedy. Plenty of great Ramen in the city! Reach ten stamps and you get a free bowl of ramen. - The chashu is excellent! My rating is 4.5 stars. I'm rounding down. Last Tuesday, I had my monthly 7 am meeting with a bunch of technical writing peers from around the world. It's quite the meeting that typically lasts for four hours. Luckily, we ended earlier than usual. It meant that my workday ended at around 3:30 pm. It was perfect, as I had a concert to attend several hours later. Normally, I don't do dinner before a concert. I grab a quick bite to each before I head downtown. This time, since I was done work early, I felt that having an early dinner was worthwhile. I drove downtown and parked in a lot that seems to be my usual spot whenever I'm attending a concert at Massey Hall. My original plan was to find an eatery close to the concert venue. I spotted Hokkaido Ramen Santouka steps away. I wanted ramen! I walked in and there was a sign that said to wait. I had no wait time. A woman and the entire staff greeted me. I asked for a table for me and got one. It was great. Seating between tables and diners is close together. You definitely overhear conversations and you can't help it. The man next to me had stretched his foot under my table. I didn't notice that he was in my space until I uncrossed my leg and my foot hit his. I listened to two friends next to me. The man seemed to take charge over what he and his female friend should eat, which was interesting. He gave the impression that he was an expert until the server came over and he had a ton of questions. It's always fun being an observer and listener. I had no choice but to listen to her dating experiences. I got a menu. I knew what I wanted. My server came over and was ready to take my order. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Miso chachu ramen, with bamboo shoot held - Jammy egg and corn as extra toppings The menu doesn't tell you what ingredients you get in each type of ramen. However, it does come with a photo. I asked how large a large bowl of ramen was. My server was great pointing up to a display of three bowls. I went large. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)
