Overall I liked the food here, generally the portions were bigger than I expected for every dish, and it justifies the higher than usual price per dish. Items that I got this visit: - har gow shrimp dumplings: overall pretty good, but the wrapper was a bit thicker than I expected. Would prefer a thinning dumpling wrapper - chicken feet: excellent, very tender and flavor was great - tofu skin wrap in abalone sauce: pretty good, the meat inside was lean and well balanced with the veggies - spare ribs in black bean sauce: this was a bit of a disappointment. The ribs were a bit tough and also underseasoned. It could have used some more salt and some extra cook time. Service was fine, nothing special. The restaurant overall was pretty nice and modern. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. We were in Toronto, so we had to check out some dim sum spots. I searched on Yelp and this place had good reviews. I'm not sure if they had parking in the building, but we parked at a nearby Green P parking and walked over. Service was excellent and the workers all spoke Cantonese. They were impressed by my Cantonese speaking skills, especially since I don't look Chinese. I'm not sure if that was a compliment, but I'll take it. They served items I've never had before and I needed to try it. I got a bowl of fresh lobster meat in pumpkin soup $9.80, look fun with egg and chicken $9. We had to get two orders of the egg yolk jin dui $7.50. We also got my usual shrimp dumplings $10, chicken feet $9 and black bean spareribs $9. The hubby wanted to try the pan fried chicken dumplings $10. Hands down the best item was the salted egg yolk jin dui. It was freshly fried and when I bit into it the sauce came oozing out. Next, was the lobster pumpkin soup. It was delicious. I wish that they would have put more lobster into it and not just a few tiny pieces on the top. A great little spot for dim sum in Toronto downtown. Apparently the place takes reservations, but we showed up with that one on a Sunday and the restaurant became quickly packed. As with any decent authentic Chinese place, expect service to be rushed/ impersonal but food to be great. Everything is on the menu from congee to egg tarts to buns. The pork buns actually had some of the fluffiest buns I've ever had. Skip the hot and sour soup- it was entirely bland. One of my friends recommended Moon Palace, and I was able to stop by on a Saturday evening. It wasn't too busy, and we were able to be promptly sat. While it was not dimsum hour, they still have dimsum selections available to be taken down by paper, as well as a fuller menu for entrees. All of the dishes were familiar, as I grew up in a Cantonese household. We ended up ordering the sweet & sour pork, Cantonese chow mein (we originally tried ordering the chow fun, but they had run out 10 minutes prior to us ordering :( ), mushroom/tofu vegetable dish, and egg yolk sesame balls. Personally, I loved the sesame balls the most hahah the egg yolk filling was perfectly not-too-sweet and delicious! The sweet & sour pork had really thick breading; we wished there was less thick coating, crispier texture, and more meat. The Cantonese chow mein was great! What a delight. The quality of of the meat and ingredients that they use in general here are amazing. The best dim sum in the city. When you have shrimp and duck in your chow mein, there are chunks of duck and the shrimp are small to medium sized shrimp not those tiny baby ones that taste like nothing at usual places. They're so good at putting a twist on dim sum items you're used to having like they have Siu Mai dumplings that are twice as big as they are elsewhere and they're topped with a little bit of truffle. Instead of having only barbeque pork steam buns, they also have chicken and ginger steam buns. Their shrimp rice rolls have medium-size shrimp in them and a yummy steamed green vegetable. There's one man server who is so nice and friendly and seems to always be working. The venue itself is pretty and very open with high ceilings. Easily some of the best Chinese food I have had downtown. Dishes were served HOT a vibrantly colorful. I appreciated the waiter explaining a little bit about where the restaurant sources its seafood and how the food is prepared. Flavors popped and everything tasted super fresh and delicious! Atmosphere wise, usually these places are lacking, but Moon Palace takes care to maintain a bright and clean interior that does feel like a more upscale dining establishment. Moon Palace is a Chinese restaurant serving elevated Cantonese cuisine. The food is fresh, tasty, and plated well. The service is also elevated. There are table clothes on every table. Of course, prices are also elevated. Some of the food remained warm even when my wife and I took time to take pictures; a bonus! The staff were so nice. The first few times we were there, one server would talk to us and also watch me taking photos and videos. The restaurant is very modern with brightly lit interiors and modern decorations. There are 3 main dining room areas at street level and 2 downstairs. I've never seen downstairs been used. The main washrooms are downstairs, where you have to walk down many steps. We've eaten at this restaurant at least 10 times since 2021 (yes, during the pandemic). The restaurant opened in 2021-01-11. Originally, this restaurant was in North York, but there was a fire in Jun 2018, so they moved. One memorable occasion was during Chinese Chinese New Year (2022-02-01) dinner. Indoor dining was allowed at 50% capacity during the pandemic; it was 40% capacity already at 18:00. We ordered a special combo for Chinese New Year: Lobster Combo for 2 ($88), which included: 1. Fresh Lobster Meat & Fish Maw thick soup (two small bowls). 2. Sweet & Sour Pork. Since then, the combo was available until mid-2024. We've ordered this combo many times because it was good value for the money. We came to try their dim sum for the first time on 2022-05-23 (Victoria Day holiday). The food was amazing. Yes, it is more expensive than typical dim sum, but the quality of the food and service waa worth it. If you make a reservation, you get to eat at their main dining area, which is pretty. Without a reservation, if you go there 1h after they open, you might have to wait 2h. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female (modern) washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is a washroom at ground level, but it is never open! The quality of their food is surprising because even if it is familiar Chinese food, it was not greasy in any way. They brought out the siomai first and it was huge, bursting at the seams with pork, not fat. Afterward, in quick succession came the rice noodles, crispy noodles, steamed fish in ginger scallion sauce, sautéed beef, snow peas with mushrooms and fried tofu. All of these were *chef's kiss* delicious. Service was top notch and the waiters assigned to us promptly refilled our water glasses and teapots. We were left wanting for nothing. It was such a gorgeous venue for our family reunion. However do note that if your table is against the wall, those seated in that area will find it difficult to leave to go to the bathrooms without asking everyone else to get up. We ordered the lobster meat, shrimp, and asparagus dumplings, bbq pork crisp, black truffle pork and shrimp dumplings, xo sauce scallop rice noodle rolls, and durian crisp. The lobster dumplings were good. There was big lobster meat inside. The black truffle pork and shrimp dumplings have a strong truffle taste. The size of the dim sum is bigger than the normal size in other restaurants but it also costs more. I like their bbq pork crisp. It is very crispy and you can see each layer and layers of it. The only thing I didn't like was the xo sauce scallop rice noodle roll. It didn't have much taste to it. The service was good. The food came out pretty quickly. I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for some time, and was finally able to make it. The place looks clean, and was quite inviting. The seating was soft and comfortable, very much inviting for long stays and good conversations. We really appreciated our waitress, she was so tentative to our needs, and kind to our youngster, and clarified menu questions for us, a true gem in the industry. The food was quite bland. The hot and sour seafood soup was served in the cutest little pumpkin bowl, and at a perfect thickness in consistency, however, the taste was quite mild. As were our lobster noodle dish. But it did really high light the taste of the sweet lobster. The mushrooms in the dish were thick, and a few pieces were a little less done than I would have liked, and maybe it's a personal preference. The chicken fried rice, was surprisingly my most enjoyed meal. There was something about their rice, it was chewy and full of flavour, I would definitely come back to order this dish again. I heard about this place after attending a Christmas Party at Lobster Burger Bar. There was a beautiful lobster tower and we found out it was actually from Moon Palace! After speaking with some friends we decided to make a booking at Moon Palace and we definitely were not disappointed. Of course we had a lobster dish which lived up the expectations, but their beef, mushroom/veggies and noodle dishes were also great - flavorful, not dry at all and definitely seasoned well. I read some reviews about the staff being unattentive or unfriendly but that was not the case at all with our visit. The menu has many items that are unique that I can't get back home. Prices can be expensive but if you look at the beautiful interior, it makes sense. Just be aware that Moon Palace has started to charge for tea. It is no longer complimentary like it is in most Chinese restaurants. This is not mentioned when you walk into the restaurant. They charge you based on the number of people, so regardless if some people don't drink tea in your party, they will charge you still. Just left this place without having any food or service. We were promptly seated by an enthusiastic older woman, she asked if we'd like any tea, to which I replied just water and we will look at the drink list. There were only 2 other tables in our section on a slow, lazy Friday around 1:10ish. One table had all their food. I sat there and watched this server converse with the male host chit chat at a pay station on the landing, looking at bills, etc. blah, blah. I'm sitting there waiting for my water and I had already ticked off some items on the dim sum menu which was super small (weird). I decided to give them until 1:20 to at least deliver my water and to take my drink order. The other tables' duck shows up. Their server takes a pic for them. The duck is then brought to my server on the landing to carve. It was 1:20. I decided to leave. I guess I'm not important enough to serve. As I am leaving, I pass my server who is carving the duck and say, "thanks for nothing." She doesn't look up from her carving, just waves a 'bye'. Wow. On the way out another server cheerily says, " bye, thank you for coming." To which I replied, "I didn't even get to eat." After I left the restaurant, I turned around and just stared into this restaurant in disbelief and the male hostess was all like, "hi.... Hi.... Can I help you?" Like he didn't even realize that 10 mins ago I saw him and he had me seated by that old lady. I told him what happened and how I watched him and the server chit chat and look at bills etc. I said I didn't get any service. He apologized and asked if he could make it right. I said no thanks. If he couldn't even remember me from 10 mins prior on a super slow day then how can he or anyone of them even serve anyone properly? I completely misjudged this place, thinking it would be overpriced and inauthentic. After going and eating, I'd say the price is worth it and the food is done right, very authentic Cantonese cuisine with some dishes having a fun modern twist. We shared the lobster chow mein which was perfect. Noodles were fresh and crispy, and once mixed with the sauce was the ideal blend of texture and flavour. The lobster was cooked with ginger and scallions. I'd say that the noodle and I assume rice dishes would be great to order to add to your meal. The siu mai had a rich mushroom aroma in each bite, and the shrimp inside were large and meaty. Even though it was $10, it was about 30-50% bigger than most other places and topped with truffle. We had the chrysanthemum tea. Service was very attentive and the ambiance made me feel like I was outside of the downtown core. The dining area is spacious and they have a second level below as well. Was blown away by the service, atmosphere and food at this Chinese restaurant during dinner! Came here for a friends birthday on a weekend. There were about 40 of us, so they gave us a semi-private space that was spacious and had such high ceilings! Amazing! The servers here were so friendly and accomodating. Now onto the food! Food here was sooo good! Delicious, fresh and so great for sharing family style. They come change your plates often just like what you'd see at a Chinese banquet dinner. It was a beautiful space and was great for a large party so that everyone was comfortably seated. Location is also very prime downtown core so super accessible through public transit. Moon Palace offers dim sum all day, but except for a couple of dim sum items that we ordered to sample, we ordered their signature Typhoon Lobster Combo A for dinner. As dim sum appetizers, we ordered their pan-fried chicken and shrimp dumplings and their XO shrimp and scallop dumplings. The dumpling skins were not extremely thin nor overly thick, but they were steamed to perfection and had a nice flavor. Both dim sum items were very good, and I would definitely come back exclusively for their dim sum service. The Typhoon Lobster Combo A was a lot of food for CAN$228. It would easily feed 4-6 people. The 6 lb. Typhoon lobster itself was absolutely to die for. They came to the table to show off the live lobster that came with our dinner weighing in at 6.5 lbs. (Note: they do charge extra for the 0.5 lb.) That was a lot of lobster!!! The lobster was stir-fried in garlic and chili pepper that was only mildly spicy and very flavorful. The lobster meat was not overly tender as you would expect from a 6.5 lb lobster, but it was none the less absolutely delicious. The overall presentation of the cooked stir-fried lobster when it came to the table was a work of art. They do provide plastic gloves, seafood forks, and wet naps for your convenience. Between the couple of dim sum items we had and the lobster, that would have been a full meal in itself. However, the dinner combo also came with a delicious fresh meat lobster in a pumpkin broth that came before the lobster was served and was tasty and another big hit. The pumpkin soup was of the consistency of salted egg yolk and came with a generous amount of fresh lobster meat that hit the spot. The stir-fried pumpkin with assorted mushrooms was good. The compoy free range chicken was excellent and was their version of hainan chicken that came with a perfect ginger and green onion sauce. My least favorite item, though, was the lobster tomalley wild rice. At that point, I was already full, so it really didn't matter to me at all. Service was very good. The wait staff was always available when you needed them from filling the teapot or the water glasses to frequently changing out the plates. The food comes out relatively quickly, so we had a lot of food sitting on the table for us. Covered parking is available at Atrium on Bay, but it is not free. For a typical dinner service, expect to pay about CAN$12 for self parking in their lot. Moon Palace was a nice surprise that served authentic Cantonese food. I highly recommend Moon Palace for dim sum service and/or their dinner entrees. read more

I ordered a whole BBQ duck this time--it's delicious. They also prepared minced duck with lettuce wraps, which are tasty as well. They had couple options for cook the other half of the duck. I probably will try the soup next time. read more

Came here for Sunday dim sum. First timer here. Reserved and got seated on time. They had larger sized dim sum items so it was filling. Cantonese Chow mein noodles were crunchy and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The sauce was very tasty. A bit disappointed with the shrimp wonton. It was a deconstructed shrimp wonton. Separate wontons which were huge and the sweet and sour sauce with shrimp, scallops and vegetables to either use as a dip or place on top of the wonton. Food arrived quickly after ordering. I loved the decor and colours in the restaurant. It was very aesthetically pleasing. I would go back and try other dishes. read more

Thank you to a dear friend for recommending Moon Palace and telling us which dishes to try! We didn't have room to try them all, but will definitely be back soon! MUST try the Bean Curd Roll, Black Sugar Mala Goh, Siu Mai, and XO Scallops Cheung Fun! A bit pricier than your average dim sum place. But oh my, the quality of food, service and atmosphere here is worth the price! I am so impressed it passes the "Will I bring my parents here?" Test. Located in Atrium on Bay, it takes the former two-level space of Springrolls. Hopefully they stay a while... Love that there's a great dim sum option downtown! read more
