I was here to quick pick up of two dim sum food items for lunch. As a XLB (Xiao Long Bao) lover, I was excited when I learned that Pearl Yorkville has XLB in the menu. I ordered: #1. (of course) XLB #2. Steamed Scallop & Shrimp dumpling Surprised. The XLB looked, tasted just like Juicy Dumpling's XLB. The texture, seasoning and flavor - almost identical. I almost thought that they share the same supplier - I may be wrong about it, but I felt that, at least, their XLBs are machine made. FYI - here, XLB (4pcs) $11. At Juicy Dumpling, $3.99 (6 pcs). For the Steamed Scallop & Shrimp dumpling - I selfishly expected that it would come in the transparent (crystal) dumpling style. I was wrong, it was steamed wonton. I do not know how to put stars, as I ate only two dimsum items. I saw people eating large dishes with noodles and seafood, which was very tempting and looked good. I may try this place again, as this beautifully set-up place in the convenient location for many - may be a good venue to get together with friends who want to share food to try & enjoy. The location is great, there are many street parking spots and parking garages. Super close to subway station (Yonge and Bloor).

My friend had a rehearsal dinner here. I forgot how many courses it was, but it was nicely done. Everything was pre-portioned out and plated to serve individually, which was nice for a big party. No mess and no fussing around with the lazy Susan. Food-wise everything was tasty. A little bit Westernized but that's good for my taste. The Peking duck was good and bonus points for not having to assemble it on my own. I also like the orange shrimp and stir fry crab dishes. Service was good. Overall a little Westernized, but I'm a fan.

This is their 4th location. The soft opening was 2023-09-02. It is a Chinese fine dining restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. The interior is nice and the table setting is nice. There is street level seating and a larger seating area half a floor down. There is even a wheelchair elevator to go down. There is a regular menu (most are $25 to $40), lunch specials (opening until 16:00), and a dim sum menu (most are $8 to $11). We came for dim sum. There is a sheet where you indicate which dishes you want. We ordered the following: 1. Steamed Spinach & Shrimp Dumpling ($11). 2. Steamed Beef Tripe in Ginger ($11). 3. Pan-Fried Onion Pancake ($8). 4. Deep Fried Squid Tentacles ($11). 5. Pan Fried Chicken Dumpling ($10). 6. Seafood Combination with Snow Peas ($18). This is a lunch special. 7. Tea ($2) x 2. The dishes come out relatively quickly. The service was very attentive. The octopus in the Seafood Combination was tough. The shrimp and scallops were large and good. The octopus in the Deep Fried Squid was good. The Spinach and Shrimp Dumpling were large and tasty. My son ate the entire Chicken Dumpling and Onion Pancake, so I didn't get to try any. Obviously, he liked them. There is 10% off for takeout. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms and a third one, which is gender-neutral and wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2023-290

I came here with my family on the first night of their soft opening tonight :) Food was delicious, and service was friendly and attentive. The decor was warm and elegant, tables were nicely spaced out, and the seats were so comfortable! We ordered the whole Peking Duck, Lamb on Sizzling Plate, Sweet & Sour Pork, Home style Vermicelli, and some veggies. We really appreciate that the kitchen was flexible re: special requests. We ordered the home style vermicelli (off menu) since we can't eat the spicy Singaporean style vermicelli, which was on the menu. 好有穫氣, you can literally hear the wok going at it in the kitchen = you know the food is good/lit We are coming back again in 2 about weeks to celebrate a birthday, and we hope to try more items (especially the seafood). Plus, they have dim sum options too. So excited that Pearl Yorkville is now in the neighbourhood, welcome!

I actually found this place because the front desk agent at the anndore hotel recommended it, then I saw that one of my elite friends on Yelp also reviewed it well so I decided to give it a shot. I Can say that i was not disappointed. The food was all delicious! The fried octopus was almost going to be tuff and chewy though that's one critique I'll give, but it was soft enough to still be delicious and palatable, they can improve a little on the cooking time and make it a little softer. But it didn't stop me from enjoying this dish, the breading also has good flavor that it was fried in. The general tso's chicken was also great, flavor was on point, only critique I have about it is the vegetables were a bit raw still, but I very much enjoyed the meal. The chicken fried rice was really good, the flavor was excellent, the rice was cooked to perfection, I have no feedback for this dish besides good things. The green beans were sooooo good, the flavor was incredible. I inhaled this side dish it was the favorite part of my dining experience, I was licking the plate after I finished it. Lastly, finally a place that gives you a discount to pick up your food! I think that's a great incentive to get myself off the couch and go pick up the food and bring it home. Also you miss out on all the ambiance of eating out, and they save labor cost, so it's a super fair win win for everyone. They give you a 10% discount for pick up orders. I will be coming back, and highly recommend this to anyone!

First authentic dim sum restaurant near bloor and Yonge. Great selection with reasonable price. Must try the stuffed chicken wings and Hargow plus special label wine to pair with the meal. Private room available with cheap parking downstairs. Walking distance to Yonge station.

I wasn't expecting much as have tried the harbor front location a few times to middling results and with the closure of Crown Princess unless one can venture out to the suburbs I have given on this type of food. This place popped up recently and is a walking distance (accessible as well which was needed for this dinner). The place was packed for a Sunday early dinner. There are two dinning areas. We sat in the front as it was easier, the back area which I just peaked at is large and is also accessible with an elevator. I didn't get to choose the menu so here is a play by play Chicken Corn Soup (decent) Crab claw (just like there original location serviceable) lacks the crunch on the outside that's usually achieved with panko. Eggplant in black bean sauce. Decent. Chicken Chow Mein (run of a mill IMO) Peking Style Shrimp (Good) Sizzling plate chicken (I think black bean) This spot has better food than the original IMO. Food was a bit greasy. Though with the dearth of decent spots for this cuisine this will be an OK alternate.

Only if the food was a little hotter. The soup was fine. Everything else needs to be hotter. It is Chinese food after all. Not like it should be sitting around in the kitchen before it's served. I found this to be the same issue at the Harbourfront location.

Items that I got this visit: - har gow shrimp dumplings: overall pretty good, but the wrapper was a bit thicker than I expected. Would prefer a thinning dumpling wrapper - chicken feet: excellent, very tender and flavor was great - tofu skin wrap in abalone sauce: pretty good, the meat inside was lean and well balanced with the veggies - spare ribs in black bean sauce: this was a bit of a disappointment. The ribs were a bit tough and also underseasoned. It could have used some more salt and some extra cook time. Service was fine, nothing special. The restaurant overall was pretty nice and modern. I hope to come back sometime and try some other dishes.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Food: I came here for a lunar New Year lunch with some co-workers. They chose the menu which was a combo deal. There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

They have a pretty standard selection for dim sum, using a paper and pencil to mark selections. The service was also quite quick and efficient. They will charge you for tea service (per person) and tip was already included in the bill at the end, so double check before you pay. It was bright and also slightly higher in noise level but to be expected. Some of the dishes were a bit too salty for my preference (like the pan fried beef ribs, great but a slightly more salty than I'd prefer) but the egg tart was nice - not too sweet but still eggy and light.

We came here for dinner and it was quite full but there was a table available and we were seated immediately. We were brought out hot tea and after reviewing their menu, we chose the dim sum route. Things were brought out as they were ready. We really enjoyed everything we got especially the Deep Fried Shrimp with Chive Cake and Soup Dumpling with Minced Chive & Chicken. The chive cake was perfectly crispy and great on its own. The soup dumpling was really more of a wonton soup to us but there were plenty of wontons and the broth was great. A really great place for dim sum!

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
