Egg white omelet with broccoli, onion, green pepper, mushroom and tomato was very good. Came with side of potatoes. We've had some really good soup here like chicken with wild rice & mushroom, chicken & orzo, Maryland seafood chowder, and stuffed pepper soups were all very good. We've also had cajun chicken soup, chicken fajita soup, pepper pot soup and corn chowder. Brother liked french onion soup, which was nicely browned. We both enjoyed salad with housemade balsamic vinaigrette. Housemade crab cakes were browned and they were good. They were served with broccoli & housemade mashed potatoes, which were both very good. Grilled marinated chicken breast was nicely charred, giving it really good flavor. Rice that came with chicken was good. Meal came with a little chutney, which was sweet and gave good flavor to broccoli and rice. Steamed broccoli had vibrant green color. LWe also had Mexican favorites like chicken quesadilla, Mexican rice and black beans. Bang bang shrimp tacos contained nicely grilled shrimp, jalapeno slaw, avocado and spicy bang bang sauce. Have to get more of those next time. Grilled chicken breast with honey mustard sauce was also very good. Brother enjoyed Lone Star Chicken meal. Crispy Chicken Melt sandwich contained fried chicken. I'll start off by saying Kevin K is a phenomenal server! (Now that we have addressed that) We have driven by Diner 248 multiple times on our way to Wegman's and Target and always see the parking lot packed! We were lucky enough to squeeze in when it wasn't so packed last night! My wife was really in the mood for chocolate chip pancakes, I don't question it I just try to solve it! We were promptly seated and wowed at how nice the inside and how much space there is! {Sad news for my wife was that they didn't serve breakfast items at dinner just dinner! } Kevin came over as if he knew we were already ready! We ordered our drinks and put in an order of the appetizer of the Mozzarella Sticks. My wife ordered the Shrimp Pasta, sauce on side and I got the 248 backyard barbecue! Which comes with ribs, French friends and 5 bone in wings! Me being the spice fanatic I am I got the hottest sauce, Inferno! He tried to let me know it was pretty hot but I said I got this! Drinks came very quickly and our Mozzetta sticks came out right after! They were good, just wish the cheese on the inside was a bit more melted, but that's just me being picky; they had a great taste none the less! Food came out and mannnn everything looked so good! I could smell the heat coming off the wings. Luckily there was no one next to us because it was about to get messy on my side of the table! The wings did have a kick, reminded me of a form of Carolina reaper sauce, not vinergary but had a great flavor, but the heat crept up on you! The ribs had a great flavor and great taste! After visiting Diner 248 a few times over this year, I am always impressed with the choices, flavor and price of this diner. There will be a wait time unless you go early (before 9AM) but I promise it will be worth the wait. At the suggestion of a local gentleman, a coworker and I stopped in for a quick dinner on business travel. The menu has good variety without going overboard. The atmosphere was warm and the folks were inviting. I ordered the Carnita Burrito but asked if they had corn tortillas instead of flour. They did and built 3 soft tacos with the same ingredients for me and had a side of steamed corn. My coworker had the 248 sirloin steak dinner. The rice, black beans and pulled pork in the carnita were topped with perfectly ripe slices of avocado. The taste was super fresh and not over seasoned or excessively salty. The overall portion was a good value without getting ridiculous. Very tasty. As fresh and healthy tasting as home cooking. My coworker was pleased with his sirloin steak-pleasantly surprised if I recall. He ordered his with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Our server was pleasant, knew what alternatives were available for the flour tortillas and the kitchen service was fast. I would go back tomorrow evening or next trip out to the area if given the opportunity. Excellent food, service and value. read more

Stopped in for brunch with mom and my wife. I had the Texan burger medium with fries. The burger was a little too messy. Bun fell apart and there wasn't much tomato or lettuce with over done bacon. I had fries which were good and Cole slaw the size of a quarter, why bother? Wife had hungry man in which she said was good. Mom had chicken, rice and corn. The corn was dry and the rice was a little under cooked. Server was pleasant and attentive. It's still a decent clean place but a needs a little more entasis on quality. read more

I was excited about going here after reading so many great reviews. But boy ... was I disappointed! I never had such horrible crab cakes ever. Yes, they were huge. But I would prefer tasty over huge. With much much less filling and what looked like crab should taste like crab. And along with it I had the worst cole slaw I have ever eaten. I am not a fussy diner and cannot remember when I last did a negative review (if ever). But after all of the great ones I read about Diner 248 ... I had to share my experience. Service was ok, could have been better. Never got asked for a refill of my drink, and when I asked for extra napkins since my sandwich was super greasy. I got one napkin. One napkin didn't even get past the 4th bite of the sandwich it was so greasy. I ran out to my truck for some paper towels, since you were so stingy with napkins.
