What a phenomenal place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or for dessert! The cafe is small, warm, and welcoming with a great atmospher, and is run by an exceptional staff. Although busy, it is a quite place to dine and talk. Their variety of coffees and teas are fantastic and all of the food is fresh and cooked perfectly. It was so perfect we came back the next day for another meal. My girlfriend got the same meal twice: Scrambled eggs on a croissant with hash browns. She also had a fruit cup. The eggs are farm fresh (most likely from the nearby farm) and the hash browns are prepared in a skillet without a ton of grease. The fruit cup was fresh and sweet with cantaloupe, red grapes, and blueberries. The first day, I had their quiche special (sausage, red pepper, and rosemary infused gouda). The quiche was light and very satisfying. I also had a fruit cup. On day two, I had the light and delicious Greek omelet (feta, tomato, spinach, and onion) with hash browns and buttered rye toast. I also had a latte and a cappuccino, which were fresh, hot, and unsweetened. Such exceptional flavors. Both days, Dom served us and she was absolutely kind and fielded our questions with ease. Open for Breakfast and Lunch, closed Monday/Tuesday Ordered Belgium Waffle which can be ordered with a selection of fruit and Powdered Sugar available. The Belgium Waffle had a nice GBD (Golden Brown Delicious) however was a bit heavy not light and fluffy. Egg sandwich served on your choice of toast (sadly no sourdough bread). Served with your choice of hash browns or home fries. I selected the home fries which was crispy through and lots of butter flavor. What an amazing breakfast spot! I had the apple cinnamon roll pancake special, and it was absolutely perfect -- cooked just right with the perfect balance of flavor. Honestly, it didn't even need syrup, but the syrup was so delicious I couldn't resist using a little! "Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name" I can't believe I never wrote a review about Smile Cafe until now. However I have been going there for years. I followed Michelle to Main Street Cafe in Phillipsburg and s was delighted that she was taking over Smile Cafe. (So ignore all reviews that were 4 years or older! Under new management!) Michelle, the owner, and Gabby, her daughter run the kitchen, and I have never had a dish I haven't loved from here. Everything is amazing. The Turkish dishes, quiches and special French toast are must tries here. Service is very good. Erin is one of the best servers I have ever had. Even if you end up having to wait for a table, it's worth it. The front of the house staff gets people out and seated. My go-to's for brunch ate a simple omelette with hash browns or the French toast special of the week. And some weeks I order both. If you come to Smile Cafe, because it's winter, it's if you have to wait for a table, the place is small and only one person of your party should wait, and the rest of you stay in the car that way the door can stay closed! Lol! Also if you are someone in a bigger party and not everyone it there yet, I suggest you wait until all the members of your party are there to be seated. They will seat you without your full party, however that's going to hurt the bottom line of the restaurant because they could have taken another party ahead of you, and they would be done by the time your friends get there. We just left here. Had a reservation for 7 for breakfast at 9:30am. We had 3 kids with us, 3, 4 and 6. We sat for literally an hour waiting for our food. Nobody came by to check in, or reassure us that our food was on its way, no "sorry for the wait", nothing. The kids' pancakes finally came out after the hour wait. After the waitress left the table, we realized none of us had silverware... after another 5 minute wait someone from our party got up and asked a different waitress for utensils. We could hear her apologizing from across the restaurant. Keeping 3 young kids calm, still and non-disruptive for an entire hour is a grueling undertaking. At least one table moved to a different one further away. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about but it wasn't bad. Two of my favorite things that hardly anyone makes ...well it was the best corn beef hash I've ever had in the whole world. And the coffee is great there too ...needless to say I've been back two more times for the corn beef hash. ...only recommendation.
