I wanted to surprise my wife for mother's day and I was lucky that chef Alex was available. I could tell that she was the right choice after having many conversations with her and thinking that she really gets what I'm trying to achieve. Due to my lack of experience, she was so helpful with finding a customized menu, adjusting it for my pescetarian sister in law, working around my budget, creating a special dish for my 4 year old daughter, coming up with a special cocktail, goodness the list goes on. She was extremely patient and excited to work with us and I am thrilled to report that my family loved it! Even my in-laws (phew). Not only was the food lovely and delicious, she takes care of all the set up, decorations, table settings, cleaning, and even gave us the left overs! That ease really made a difference. If/when I have another shoot in the desert area, Sophie will be the first person that I call for meals for the cast and crew! Now let's get to what we got ( and yes there are some out of their control issues ) During service the ( friendly) part kind of disappeared, yes he was fighting wind but what do you expect when you show up with a Lowe's purchased blackstone ? He kept losing the flame to which I find odd since I have the same black stone I cook on in the same back yard . We help facilitate moving his set up and putting up an ez up asking with a grill cover to help block the wind. We understood that it was not ideal conditions , however his frustrations seemed to take over. Food quality was good ( the steak was prime and cooked well, rice was done to restaurant quaility, chicken was under cooked by about 4 minutes ( but understanding wind issues ) we looked past that. Now here comes the fun part .. the total paid .. and what comes after .. edited There was some misunderstanding about the total gratuity that thought should have been paid out. After posting my initial review of this small business owner ( they ) had reached out directly and apologized what had occurred and that is highly appreciated. We understand running a small business is not easy and we survive and thrive off our customers reviews.Everyone has an off day and I do not suppose this is a normal occurrence.
