Got here at around 11. No wait. Plenty of tables! Our orders took about 25 mins. We both order the avocado tar tine on their special's menu. The breakfast was small but healthy option! Bagel didn't taste like bagel. They tasted room temperature. A thin layer of avocado with some Mexican seasoned corn, poached eggs are a bit overdone. We also ordered a side of smoked salmon. Didn't know the price to that. Order was $10 for four thin slices of smoked salmon. A rip off!!! Service is mehhhhh. Took a while to get some attention from our waitress to refill our coffee and tea. So I see we won't be back for awhile. Mainly coz the food, taste is just meh. Price is high. Food is just warm. We would like hot breakfast or brunch. Fruit bowl is the best part. Had the South Street Skillet. Came in a small Corning ware oval bowl. Not a skillet. Small portion mostly potatoes with tiny pieces of ham. Not as had hoped, small portion, overpriced. Still looking for a great breakfast. This was not close enough to give it another try. read more

We were in the area and decided to look for a place to enjoy some breakfast. We were seated promptly and our order was taken quickly. Staff was friendly and there was someone always going around refilling coffee, which was nice. Hubby ordered eggs, toast, bacon, sausage and chocolate chip pancakes. This is going to sound very strange, but there were so many chocolate chips in them, that the center of the pancakes were almost inedible. I ordered the omelet with mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto. The omelet itself was extremely thin, so that they were way overcooked. The tomatoes had no seasoning, so very bland. Potatoes were okay- I also ordered cinnamon raisin toast. There was so much salted butter on the toast that I couldn't finish it. Son ordered the strawberry crepes. Those were okay, but I've had better. Sadly, both hubby and I had a stomach ache afterwards. We visited Worcester one weekend and stayed with a friend in Hopkinton and decided to grab brunch at the local diner the next morning. Fair warning that this place is cash only. I ordered the strawberry Belgian waffles which was pretty tasty. My sister ordered the crabcake Benedict, which was good but the crabcake was a lot more breadier and crispier. Coming from Maryland, I'm used to the lightly breaded crabcake so much prefer that. I would want to try another brunch location but I have a feeling there might only be a few in the area. read more

Have not been here in several years. At that time it was a great place to get a hearty breakfast. I don't know if there are new owners but it was not the same diner as in the past Ordered your standard breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and grilled English muffin. Hot tea and iced tea. Ice tea came in a small juice type glass. Strange! The portions were small. It looked like one egg scrambled and it was cooked to long wth alittle bit of brown through out. We asked for the bacon crisp and it came to use very fatty and so salty. By this time we were looking for drink refills and we're not asked. The home fries were very bland, just warmed up and a small portion. The English muffin we had a good laugh over. It was so thin it was hard to separate. We had to ask for ketsup and jelly (how many and what flavor). The receipt was put on the table and plates were taken away even though I was still eating my home fries. We felt rushed the whole time and the restaurant only had one other table. Then title by little the rug was being swept and lights started going out. So it was 1:45 and they close at 2:00. Don't worry as we will not be back . Not a Welcome, have a nice day, thanks for coming in. No one smiled at all. Just a poor experience over all. I have been here for breakfast on occasion but stopped in with family to do a lunch meal here the other day. Son decided to go with breakfast waffles, I decided on the fish sandwich for lunch. Clearly it seems where they excel is in breakfast fare. My son's waffle looked great, and it was also very tasty since he wasn't able to finish it all, so I helped with that. As for my fish sandwich I wish it was that good. The fish itself was fine, somewhat bland, would have helped to have a lemon but at least I had tarter spread to give it flavor. The iceburg lettuce and generic tomato slice were just mediocre accomplices to a fried fish that needed more help than it got. It wasn't horrible, but having had so much better elsewhere this is not something I would ever order here again. Oh, and cash only. Prices are reasonable, but just such a pain in this day and age when plastic is literally king. If you do stop by, order the breakfast, you will be happy with that choice. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The place was hopping, so it looks like it's a regular stop for locals. While at one point this was a diner, it was renovated and is now more a Victorian purple cafe. Given the black ceiling tiles and chairs, it tends to be a little dark in the dining room, even on a bright day. The waitress was prompt to the table and quite friendly. The breakfast food was as expected and with good portion size. They were fine with us substituting broccoli for the hash browns. Good value. Just remember - bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. read more

I like the old South Street Diner better. The old school greasy spoon diner is a dying breed, and this used to be one of the good ones. Now it is all artsy nonsense, and none of the old menu items made it beyond the remodel. I gave it a fair shot a couple of times, but the portions were not worth the price, and the food is just ok. First time going here and walked in through the front and it said please wait to be seated. No one ever came to seat us & I guess if you come in through the back it says seat yourself. A nice patron let us know we could seat ourselves. Once seated service took 10 minutes to take our drink order. The food was bland & small portions. My friend had been before & was not thrilled but I wanted to try it. It took forever to get our check & it was confusing. Do you pay at the counter or leave your $$ on table?? Like all the other reviews, this place wasn't much of a "diner" per se but had just as good, if not better food than the best greasy spoon place you've ever been too! They offered the biggest breakfast menu selection I've ever seen in my life! I settled for the Smokey omelette which came stuffed with bacon, tomatoes and smoked gouda. Great food, great service. Chanel was quick to offer suggestions based on my egg allergy...her suggestion of omelet stuffings with their potatoes was a hit!! Our son had the Rangers Pre Game and his med rare steak was perfect!! Everything else in our group of 6 was equally as delicious. Great portion sizes. Good prices and flavorful. I tried the diner next door, but it does not compare. From the decor to the staff and of course the food. South Street Diner wins hands down. Our hotel was not ready yet when we arrived; so my daughter and I decided to look for a breakfast restaurant around the city of Westborough. First time in MA and we do not know what to expect. When we entered the restaurant, one of the regulars told us that we can sit anywhere and so we did. The waitress came yo our table and started asking us how we doing and offered us done drinks. The waitress was so friendly. This restaurant is a must when in Westborough - great customer service, food was delicious and affordable. A year or two ago I would have given South Street Diner 4 stars, but after several recent visits, I have yet to enjoy a breakfast that merits anything above 3 stars. On the plus side, South Street Diner has pleasant wait staff, a delicious hash and very good coffee. However, it's the consistency of the over-all breakfast I find concerning. Specifically, when my breakfast is served, I expect it to be very warm and not taste like it has been sitting in the kitchen 5 minutes before being served. I really like this place, as I've experienced fast service, and everything cooked to my order. But, a couple of Saturdays ago I went with my son, and I ordered the Irish Eggs Benedict. It took a long time, and it was just awful! On presentation, the egg, hash, and muffing weren't stacked evenly. There was no evidence of Hollandaise sauce, save for a puddle of melted butter on the plate surrounding the English muffins. One egg was overcooked, with a hard yolk, and had a very strong taste of vinegar. I know one puts vinegar in the water when poaching eggs, but only a drop! The eggs shouldn't taste of vinegar. The other egg was cooked properly. The English muffins were impossible to cut! I thought I would break the plate trying to saw through them. Overall, the worst restaurant eggs Benedict I've ever had. In addition, the home fries are the most uninspired, bland, dull home fries ever! No detectable seasoning, no peppers, no onions. Bland. I won't be going back unless I just want traditional bacon and fried eggs. And the waitress never returned to heat up our coffee until in desperation I flagged her down. read more

This use to be a good bn place however has gone down hill consistently. The other Day my waitress was so busy doing her personal work and or making a schedule paper type thing she was in the clouds. My order was wrong from her NOT listening and then the kitchen itself. There was 4 mistakes on my basic order of eggs and toast. The eggs were the worst I ever had in years. Definitely a huge difference in food and service from my last time here. On Sunday we came here for breakfast/lunch at around 11:30 or so. It was busy, but we were still seated promptly in a nice table near the front door. Coffee and waters were brought over in a flash, too. I ordered the Mexican omelette, with rye toast. It came with home fries. The dish was awesome! The omelette was stuffed with cheese, peppers and onions, and salsa. Home fries were perfectly seasoned, and crispy on the edges just how I like them. Rye was toasted with ample amounts of what tasted like real butter, as opposed to margarine or canola spread at many places. The portion was huge, but I definitely shouldn't stop eating! My coffee was periodically filled without having to ask throughout the meal. My other half got the veggie sandwich since he was in the mood for lunch. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I was very impressed by the whole experience, as I was nervous to come back. The last time we came, the wait took forever, service was spotty and slow, and my veggie omelette didn't come with cheese, so it lacked a ton of flavor. I really love all of the spots on Westborough for breakfast, all for different reasons. I'd say they are all tied for food in different areas. I would say the only drawback is the limited amount of vegetarian/meat free options. But honestly, you'll forget about that when you try the food. I can't remember what the name of our lovely server was on Sunday, but she made the experience that much better. I'm sorry we waited so long to give this place a second try. After all, it had been well over a year and we live walking distance! They are also open for dinner some nights, and are BYOB. The dinner menu looks fancy and delicious. My wife and I love this little place. It's nicely decorated inside and the staff is always attentive and friendly. Prepare to be greeted like a regular on your first visit. It's always nice to see the owner with her sleeves up, bustling around like everyone else. So far, we've only ordered breakfast, but it's only because we enjoyed what we had last so much, not to mention that there's just too many good things to choose from. I highly recommend the Philadelphia or farmer's omelet or the chorizo scrambler. The Belgian waffle is great, too and if it's fruit season, get the fresh fruit on top - no syrup needed. Also, they know how to make a good pot of coffee. I'm fixing for one right now. Just make sure you bring cash. They don't take plastic, so you'll find yourself standing outside the drive-thru bank line next door since they haven't gotten their ATM yet! read more

I have mixed feelings about South Street. The menu holds a lot of promise, but the execution wasn't quite right. As is usual for a diner, the coffee isn't very good, but your cup is never even half empty. I ordered a corned beef hash omelette topped with hollandaise. The portions sizes are huge, which is always what I look for in a diner. The homefries were excellent, still even had the skin on them and none were undercooked. Unfortunately, that was the best part of the meal. My omelette was definitely overcooked, to the point that the hollandaise didn't really qualify as a sauce any more. It was only alright, texture is important in an egg dish. The toast was cold, which is less than ideal. Overall, if what you want are big portions of standard diner food and an endless supply of coffee, South Street probably won't disappoint. read more

This place was disgusting. My fiance ordered oatmeal which was clearly instant oatmeal they heated up in a microwave. I ordered poached eggs on crab cakes. The hollandaise had no flavor and it tasted like they took a powder packet and mixed it with water. I'm always looking for a good diner with fresh food, fast service and great coffee. Skip the coffee and order water because that's all I really got in my coffee any way. Total bummer. read more
