I came here this past Friday on a Gilt deal that included dinner for 2. I was amazed that when we walked in, there was no one else in the restaurant! I'm not sure why it wasn't packed, but this was an absolutely stunning restaurant. The decor was beautiful with an extensive bar. The music created a really nice vibe, and the meal was solid. The deal included 2 cocktails each, 1 appetizer each, and 1 entree each. Both of the cocktails that I had were strong and mixed very well. I really enjoyed the tuna tartare appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size! For my entree, I had the trout that was perfectly cooked and had a wonderfully crispy skin. I wish it came with a side other than yogurt and pea puree since i felt a bit underwhelmed afterward. Went on a Saturday evening . Approached the hostess and before allowing me to speak she just said go straight upstairs . After walking up 3 flights of stairs and straight into a rooftop party , we realized we belonged downstairs and we had to walk back down . She apologized for assuming that my date and I were there to party and not there to have dinner. Once seated , the server greeted us and made suggestions on what we should get as well as what drinks he preferred. His suggestions were a hit . The lollipop chicken was ok ,but the porkchop was huge and delicious , they gave a very generous amount of salad , the burger was juicy and the drinks were strong . Came here with a Pulsd coupon for 2 which the choice of 2 appetizer, 2 main and 4 drinks. This place is located very close to the subway, so it's easy to get to at the corner of ludlow and delancey. It's a multi floor venue with bar/restaurant on the first floor and above for party. First floor is classic setting, high ceiling with a lot of chandeliers. Service was very fast, the waitress is super nice. Ordered steak tartare and mussels for starter, pretty good taste and good portion. Main I had steak which is $6 extra for the coupon. Steak was very juicy and cooked perfectly pink inside. My partner ordered the burger, the size of the burger is so small, it's bigger than a slider but smaller than regular burger. If you are hungry don't order this. Truffle fries are amazing. Crispy and thin. I'm surprised to find out this place offers very good food. And good cocktail as well. So I've been to the DL before for Day Parties but never to eat , so i got a Pulsd Deal and decided to check out Dinner on Ludlow.... ( best deal I've gotten by the way ) So for my app i got the Mussels and babbbyyy let me tell you i didn't normally like my mussels with red broth but i have to change my tune after these mussels, now we know it's all about the broth that the mussels comes in and let me tell you this dude was soo good and the surprise of them adding olives to the broth was a need i didn't know i needed and lastly to top the dish off to perfection the bread they give you with the mussels is like the perfect vessel for mussels. He got fish tacos he said they moist and the sauce was a good addition to the tacos .. for our 2 drinks we order SideCar and Spicy Margarita (my fav) my drink had the right amount of spice For our Mains i ordered the DL Burger and it was a 5/5 for me it was juicy, messy, tasty and the bread complimented the burger so well. I found an awesome deal for this restaurant on Pulsd that was $49 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 drinks. The interior decor was absolutely breathtaking with beautiful, dainty, sparkling crystal chandeliers and a colorfully lit up bar. There were floor to ceiling windows in the front with velvet drapes tied in the middle with plush white couches by them. The place had a slightly vintage vibe with a high end, luxurious, upscale feel, while still managing to be inviting. My friend was already there sitting off to the side and the charming host (who was also the waiter) welcomed me and said that we could sit anywhere. We were led inside and I sat on the comfortable deep blue booth seating. Since I do not drink, I asked which of the cocktails would work best as virgin drinks and ended up selecting La Paloma and and another one. The La Paloma was the palest of pink in color and consisted of rose, grapefruit, lime and soda. It was light, refreshing and lovely. The other non alcoholic beverage I tried was a deep pink sparkling drink with strawberry and lime flavors. It was delightful and sweeter, more full bodied than the other one. For my appetizer, I decided to get the Cornmeal Crusted Calamari which came with marinara sauce. The portion size was quite generous and the calamari was quite crispy, just the way I like it. There was tasty seasoning throughout as well. My friend had the edamame hummus, which came with olives, cucumber and celery. The edamame hummus also had olive oil and herbs. It was really interesting and was definitely unique. It was a great healthy option. I had the 10 oz New York Strip Steak with this amazing peppercorn sauce and parmesan truffle french fries. The steak was delicious and cooked a perfect medium well, the way I had requested it. The steak had a bit of char on the outside, was juicy and tender on the inside and the accompanying sauce was super smooth and packed with smoky pepper flavor. There was quite a bit of french fries with plenty of truffle, along with parmesan cheese on top. The fries were soo potato-y and fluffy. Our waiter was wonderful throughout our time. This time, I took my friend to checkout this place and I want to show her the interesting fun night club but we were kindda disappointed. We went on Saturday night but less people this time then we went up to second floor and third floor. A dinner to remember. I had my 35th birthday dinner at Diner on Ludlow on 9/16/16. It was spectacular. I dined at this establishment and fell in love with the decor. The low lighting, chandeliers and vintage feel is exactly the mood i wanted to create for the occasion. A month previous to the date i reached out and was put in touch with Aaliyah the Director of Events & Client Services, she helped with every detail of the dinner. She was very attentive to each question I had about the meal and dinner party instruction over email and even called me during the month of communication to explain particulars. I picked 3 items for each course for my 17 guests to choose from. I brought my own cake, balloons and additional table decorations. - Set up, upon arriving at the venue 30 minutes previous i was greeted graciously with a flute of champagne from "Jack" who informed me he would be taking care of everything for the night. He took direction and helped set the table before my guest arrived. - Dinner, service was great. We didn't have to wait long after everyone arrived to have our orders taken by Jack. I had the spicy char tartare for app and steak for main, it was cooked perfectly medium and my sisters fish tasted great as well. The portions were generous. Glasses were never empty and no one had any issue with the food. The family style sides i chose were the Mac & Cheese and broccoli rabe. In fact after, EVERY one commented on how well prepared the food was and how wonderful the decor fit in with my "Glitter and Gold" theme. Literally overall - the service was amazing and I got nothing but praise from my 17 guests. I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment, food, decor and service. Used a $49 dinner for two voucher from Pulsd. Ambiance is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. We were the only patrons in the dining area; most visitors went to the rooftop bar upstairs. It was a promising start, but things quickly took a turn with the service (or lack thereof) that we received. Our waiter stopped by, mumbled a "hey how are you guys", poured our water to less than half a cup, and went back behind the bar on his phone while dancing to the music and having a drink. We waited about 10 more minutes before he even took our order despite the fact that we were the ONLY customers there. After taking our order, for the next 1.5 hours, he never stopped by our table once. The bartender had to come over to take our additional drink orders and clean up our plates. This waiter continued to chat with other regulars at the bar and made drinks for himself and the hostess. Food was nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. For appetizers, I had the Salmon Poke; the sauce was on the saltier side, and I have had better fish quality at local sushi restaurants for way cheaper. My partner ordered the Cornmeal Calamari -- solid but nothing special. For our entrees, I ordered the tagliolini pasta -- it was fresh but tasted almost flavorless aside from the bits of toasted almond mixed in. My partner's dish of Miso Salmon was a much better choice, as it was bursting with flavor. The drinks were unique and strong, and overall, a good value for our voucher. However, given the shoddy service, it did not make the experience very enjoyable for us. Came here for brunch with a cousin. Like everyone else I was a little thrown off by the bouncer at the door....it's like 1pm. I guess there was an event on the roof though and I might have looked cool enough to be going to it. I wasn't. I met my cousin inside and we were seated. Our server handed us our menus and kind of kept circling back to see if we were ready to order. I didn't think that there was much on the menu to choose from. They have a pre fixe option where you could get fruit or biscuits, an entree and two mimosas for like too much money. I ordered the biscuits and the shrimp and grits. The biscuits where ok..nothing to write home (or Yelp) about. The shrimp and grits consisted of a huge bowl-y plate of grits and three shrimp. Three shrimp. Now I've never had such large shrimp so I was excited to dig in, but my cousin had to convince me that only about an inch and a half of it was edible. He was right. It was a lot of grits, not that much shrimp and meh biscuits. We waited a long minute for our food too, which our waiter apologized for. Would I come back? No. There are way too many other great places in the neighborhood to do that. It doesn't look like they'd miss me anyway. read more

The service and drinks were really good but the food was pretty basic. For food, I had the miso glaze salmon and spinach which was decent but not worth the value of my puls'd deal. There were only 5 entree options and most of them looked pretty bland. For the drink, I had the Felicidad and it was great. The waiter was also pretty responsive and available during the meal, even though there was only 1 other duo eating there that night. Overall, I will continue to drinks and party here upstairs from time to time but it's out of the question for dinner. What a place! I've never been to a club like this with four or five floors, each with its own theme/feel to it. The top floor definitely makes an impression with its tacky jungle theme and wading pool (which we saw some girls hop into and dance). It can get super crowded and it's rather difficult to make your way to the bar. I really liked the rum and coke I had here though. We went to the fourth floor which had red lighting and a disco ball, much more grungy than the fifth floor. It was easier to dance here since there were fewer people and girls and guys alike were getting down. There's only ONE stall though for the girls' bathroom on this floor which seems impractical. My friend and I ended up going to the first floor where there are three stalls. No cover but there was a little bit of a line to wait on. It moved pretty quickly but since there's so much space at this club, I'm not sure why there was a line at all. read more

We discovered Dinner on Ludlow through a Brunch offer from Gilt City. Maybe visiting a place with "Dinner" in the title is a mistake (sort of like playing pool for money with a guy named after a city -- eg Chicago, etc.). However we were mostly pleasantly surprised. The Gilt offer was good and off we went. DoL at Delancey is a fun neighborhood so we arrived and immediately hooked up two bangin' Bloody Mary's -- which looked sort of anermic. No garnish (we requested olives), no celery or bacon or anything. But holy underpants were they good. Super-cold and super-tasty -- garlicky with plenty of horseradish. By the time we'd finished our first round and ordered -- skillet pancakes with applewood-smoked bacon for her, the house Eggs Benny with pork belly and fries on the side for me. Another round of Bloody's and we were barely conscious. She opted for ginger ale and I went with some sangria and we kicked back for a bit and shuffled out far happier than we had been upon our arrival -- which is really the bottom line. Despite the occasional flirtation with inebriation, I was very impressed with most if not all of the space. First, the decor -- industrial chic -- was not quite foofy so much as it was foofy with an sneer, sort of like Billy Idol in a tux. And welcoming without being too soft or too cozy. Also, a little warm with the door/windows wide open but breeze and air and light made it fine. Foodwise we both really enjoyed everything, and the pork belly was a standout as was the smoked bacon (really bonfire-esque smoky). The drinks were strong -- which is a really good thing or simply a fact depending on one's perspective -- but we certainly enjoyed everything. The only real disappointment was the warm rather than ice water. And that was remedied with a spare glass of ice. I'd prolly request a side of pork belly for the Bloody Mary's next time I visit, which will be soon; just as long as they don't run out of pork belly or Bloody Mary's we'll be back for sure ;-) read more

This was actually a really great experience and so happy I came! When I arrived for dinner the place wasn't crowded so we were able to good table. The service was really great! Our waiter was amazing, was diligent and very nice. The best part though were the food and the drinks. I had two cocktails that's were AMAZING, so refreshing and up my ally. And the food was surprisingly dry good. The servings were plentiful and very tasty. My favorite was the jumbo chicken wings in sriracha honey. I got like 6-8 wings and they were sooo good. Like not too saucy, not too spicy, like just crispy enough! I had the salmon with brussel sprouts and sweet potato. Also very tasty. The ambiance was to die for with plush seating and chandeliers everywhere. I would say the price is up there. I had a Pulsd coupon that cut down the cost. As soon as I saw "bone marrow" listed in the appetizer list of this restaurant on Gilt City, I knew I had to get it. The Gilt City deal included a bottle of house selected wine, one appetizer to share, two entrees, one side to share, and one dessert to share for $60, which is a phenomenal deal. This restaurant is pretty close to the subway (definite plus for those in heels) and the decor is pretty nice. Although the deal was for one appetizer, the waitress said that we could have two (another plus). So our Gilt City feast included: -Appetizers: -Tuna Tartar (smoked herring, avocado, lemon-ginger oil, crispy sallots): I wasn't too fond of this dish. It was rather small and had an odd taste. I wouldn't recommend this appetizer. -Bone Marrow Gremolata with toast points, caramelized onion marmalade: So amazing that I wished that we got two orders of this bone marrow goodness. Entrees & Sides (although we were allowed one side, we ordered three and just paid extra): -Brussels Sprouts with applewood smoked bacon, pecorino romano: definitely a lot of cheese, but still delicious and they definitely did not skimp out on the bacon. -Roasted Butternut Squash with maple butter, sage, toasted pepitas: this side reminded me of eating candied sweet potatoes during the holidays. Very good. -Parmesan truffle fries: anything with truffle oil and/or truffle salt is amazeballs. In other restaurants, whenever I had "truffle fries", the truffle oil would be lacking. However, Dinner on Ludlow definitely made sure we had a taste of the truffle goodness. In fact, I smelled it before it got to our table. Definitely a good sign. -Whole Roasted Sea Bass, w/ fresh herbs, lemon and tuscan olive oil: Be careful of bones. Other than that. Such a heavenly simple taste that it just melts in your mouth. -Grilled Arctic Char with braised carrots: The skin was a little too hard for my taste, but the fish underneath was delicious. The carrots went well with the char. Dessert: -White chocolate panna cotta with fresh berries: So light yet sweet. A perfect ending to a great meal. The many chandeliers were pretty and I liked the decor and high ceilings of the place. I was having a great experience for the fourth of july event i paid tickets for. Long wait but seemed worth it. About an hour in I wanted to step outside & saw many people leave and come back in. We asked two bouncers if we left, would we be able to enter again and they said of course. Left for not even 10 minutes and suddenly a male bouncer isn't letting me in because of my yeezy sandals, calling them "house shoes", which i find discriminatory considering i saw many sandals more flat than mine. Then it goes from my shoes being a problem to all of a sudden there's no re-entry. I will never come here again and had way more fun next door at the oyster bar. They also tried to charge my friends $100 each just to get in on top of them already buying tickets. read more

We took advantage of a pulsd deal and visited this restaurant. Be aware that you will be charged about 50 dollars at the conclusion of the night. This is for the tax and tip on the original amount. This is in addition to the amount you pay for pulsd detail. When you arrive, they will ask for your driver license and scan it. The person at the door gave me an attitude when I asked about the scanning of the ID. We were then met with our waitress who brought us to the table. We were immediately met with a waiver who brought us water. The waitress was very attentive throughout the evening. We enjoyed our meal, which consisted of calamari, chicken ceaser salad, salmon and seafood linguini. If getting the salmon, you will need a side dish or you will be left hungry. We added the roasted potatoes and this was added to the bill. Drinks are hit or miss but not the worse we have experienced. read more

Overall 4 stars, but make sure you read my old review for dinner. The dinner is much more yummy than brunch. Gilt City had another deal for brunch and I ended up going a few times. Service was fine. Unobtrusive. If you go at noon-1pm, it starts to reach half capacity. I made a res on OpenTable regardless. The seats by the windows can be really sunny. There were exclusions: cocktails were limited to the ones on the brunch menu (mimosa, bloodies, bellini, sangria) and the yummier entrees over $20 were excluded (tuna, shrimp and grits, steak and frites). Overall, I don't think the Gilt City offers are a good deal unless you like to drink. I also wish they would offer a supplement for those excluded entrees. I've had the sangria and bellini - both good. I think the chicken and bisquits were really good - moist fried chicken with some sausage gravy. The biscuits were on the bottom and they played a supporting role well. The next time I went, my girlfriend got this and there was barely any sausage gravy on the chicken - a really thin veil. Like, really? The burger looks alright (and comes with fries). The skillet pancake was not bad with the side of syrup and chantilly cream. The tables here, however, are pretty small and I accidentally touched the hot oval-shaped skillet twice while eating. For sides, we tried the pork belly confit, bacon, and parmesan truffle fries, which I all liked. read more

I was very confused when I arrived, knowing I was meeting a friend here for dinner and that we had a 6pm reservation on a Sunday night. There was a long line on the side of the building, red ropes up, and 3 or 4 bouncers allowing people "on the list" to enter. I felt instantly that I didn't belong even before I entered, because everyone waiting to get in was wearing tons of makeup and 4 inch heels. Eventually I got up the nerve to go up to one of the bouncers and say I had a reservation for dinner. He questioned me, "You have a RESO?", I said yes, and he opened the door to let me in. I found my friend at a table on the first floor (the venue has 3 floors, with lounges and dancing upstairs). The restaurant part of the venue was quite empty. Only 3 tables were eating dinner. It was loud with thumpy music on the soundsystem, and quite dimly lit. I did like the mutliple chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, which served as both decor and lighting. We had a Restaurant.com coupon for $50 off $75, so my friend and I each had a cocktail, appetizer and an entree to make sure we spent at least $75. My cucumber martini was tasty but mostly juice. I had the mussels for my appetizer, and they were served with crusty bread. The broth they were cooked in was delicious, but I think the mussels were a little old or overcooked, because they were chewy and difficult to get out of the shell. For dinner I had the beef stroganof. The menu said this was braised short ribs, but either the meat was totally underbraised, or it was actually cooked in the oven. The meat was incredibly tough, not tender the way braised short ribs should be. And the dark lighting didn't make the food look more appetizing. But I will say the portions were generous, and the service was good. read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon with a group of girlfriends. Not sure if this is typical, but the upstairs was blocked off... the venue definitely seems to cater to more of a dinner/evening scene, but it was still an impressive space even in the daytime. In sum: come here for brunch if you feel like staring at beautiful hipsters as you enjoy your mimosa and shrimp and grits. read more

I also got the Pulsd deal which sounded great and worth the amount of the deal. When I got there we were told they had no availability for the night outside of the bar due to a private party. Bummer but they were willing to accommodate us so that was good. We sat at the bar and watched as the bartender talked with other employees at the bar. After a while of waiting my friend goes excuse me excuse me excuse me basically trying to get someone's attention they finally said yes and she asked if we could order. They took our orders and made our first round of drinks. Next the appetizers came out I had meatballs she had onion rings. The meatballs were amazingly good along with the cabbage that came with it. The half chicken takes 30 min to cook so when It came out I was full. By the time I got home I was hungry again so I had it then and was actually good also. Going to Dinner On Ludlow felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode. I make a reservation on a Sunday for a Thursday night dinner and get to the restaurant to find that they lost my reservation. First off, the hostess tries to pin it on me, saying "are you sure you called the right number". I respond yes, showing her the restaurant's phone number in my call log. Then she says we can wait until 7:15 to see whether one of the 7:00 reservations falls through. The group with the 7:00 reservation arrives, so we're out of luck. Again, the hostess tells me there's nothing they can do since I "don't have a reservation". She asks if I want to wait until 10pm. Umm no thanks, I'm hungry now so I'm not going to wait 3 hours. What killed me was she never said sorry once for losing our reservation. You're the hostess, you represent the restaurant, so even if its a different employee that made a mistake, you should at least say sorry and try to be accommodating. So rude!! There are too many good restaurants in this area to waste my time going here. In closing, I think this quote from Jerry Seinfeld is quite fitting: "You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them." read more
