Dino is really good! I had the carbonara and it was perfectly al dente and flavorful. May be a bit salty for some but I enjoy salt. Portions are appropriate, I was able to eat it all but wasn't hungry after. Also had really good/funky wine selection and made a nice dirty martini. read more

What a lovely experience we had at this restaurant. I went here with my family to celebrate Mother's Day and we had such a nice time. Great brunch spot! Has a little cute sunny backyard. The service was a little slow but our server was all by himself. He did a great job though! We started with a Bufala Mozzarella and the Roasted Beet Salad. The Bufala mozzarella cheese is absolutely delicious! The beets were tasty too and it's a great portion for sharing. My omelette with mushrooms and fontina was yummy! My friend got an organic salmon entree, he loved it. I really like that they have at least one organic option there. Had an unpleasant experience last night having to do with the service. The only competent staff member there is the young hostess. There's an older woman there, perhaps the owner, who came out and helped two white men before helping me when I was standing in front of them. She didn't have the wherewithal to ask who had arrived first. She just serviced the two white men before acknowledging anyone else. Thankfully, the young hostess came out and asked who was there first and when I said I was, she kindly seated me. While I was waiting for my dining partner, I asked 2 bussers to order a drink. They said I'd have to wait for the female server who was literally nowhere to be found. She only showed up when my friend arrived. She then took our drink orders and came back to the table with only my friend's glass of wine while making me wait some more for my drink. This shows a deep lack of knowledge in service. She also had an unpleasant attitude. Um... if you think service is beneath you go do something else. The food was good but I won't be back. I have been meaning go to this restaurant for quite some time. I was greeted as soon as I stepped into the restaurant. My waiter was very nice and made sure to check on me every once in a while. The Orecchiette was fantastic! It was a perfectly balanced dish with a little broth at the bottom of the bowl that was full of flavor. Dino is just as lovely as it was before the pandemic. I ordered from them for delivery and it was delicious (pasta with lemon and the olive oil cake). Tonight was my first try at dining there and we sat at the back in the little terrace, which was really pretty. Everyone on staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. My husband and I put in a delivery order at 7:59pm this evening and they said it would be delivered by 9:10pm. At 9:28 we called and they said it was en route. We called at 9:52 the person who answered said it was enroute. It arrived at our door at 10pm, 2 hours after we put in the order. The $3 garlic toast was 2 tiny pieces. The 2 pasta portions were tiny. These 3 insuffienent items cost us $40. We will not order or eat at this place ever again. If you do order from here, don't order the garlic toast. It was just gross. Acceptable food but truly miserable service. Despite reserving an indoor table, the host was insistent that my party be seated outside, noting that we'd "have to make do." When we ordered drinks, the bar was out of tonic water, which is sort of an astounding thing to run out of. During the meal, someone broke a glass but the Dino team just left the chards all over the sidewalk and continued their business. I went to Dino the other day and had a ok experience there. I order the Ragù rigatonis with tomato-based sauce, sausage, and ricotta cheese. The share is pretty big and full of flavors, I definitely recommend it. I waited not even 10mins to get my order. My table-mate ordered, however, the Farro salad. We were a bit disappointed: the plate is pretty small, a few radishes, tomatoes, and very little ricotta cheese--it was like almost no toppings on a $14 small salad: I do not recommend it (see my pictures). You might say "why ordering a salad at an Italian/pasta restaurant?" but I have been to many places where plates outside the restaurant's core specialty receive a better consideration. I would have been happy to give 4 stars if we only ordered two kinds of pasta as good as the one I had but that was not the case. read more

So I went here months ago. Maybe since then they changed their attitude and the other reviews suggest it's a hit and miss. The bland pasta was served with cold sauce on top - yeah like they just boiled it and poured some clock stock on top. Service was not rude but slow. I was introduced to Dino by a good friend during my last visit to Brooklyn. I had heard so many good things from my friend and she was excited that we had the opportunity to check it out. The pasta carbonara is to die for! The rich dish of pasta is everything you want and more. The crispy pancetta complimented the creamy sauce that coated the perfected cooked pasta like a glove. Simple and delicious is what every bite was! The space in the restaurant is small, but very inviting. The setup is very similar to their sister restaurant Dosa Royale, but with an Italian twist. Dino is perfect for a date night during the middle of the week. I would not recommend to go to Dino for a date during the weekend due to their limited space. The restaurant fills up quickly, leaving you feeling like a sardine in a can. The staff is really friendly and they try their best to be as accommodating as possible. I had a great time and incredible pasta. Dino understands the significance of fresh, quality ingredients and it shows. read more

Italian food is one of my favorites although this place was disappointing. The non "Italian" the skirt steak was really good. The appetizers were really good. You can't go wrong with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. The grilled calamari was good too. As for the squid ink linguine with calamari...lets just say it sounds good but the tomato sauce overpowered the whole meal. It had an extreme taste and didn't let the squid pasta and calamari shine. I was thinking of more seafood taste. My dad had some pasta too and tasted like the same pasta sauce. Ok so what is wrong with tomato sauce you ask??? It was super thick and strong. It had that sour tarte taste. Personally i feel like the tomato sauce needed to be cooked longer and less on the thick side. I will like to go back and explore the other parts of the menu though. I live in the neighborhood and don't want to wait 30-45 minutes on a Saturday or Sunday for Walter's etc. Dino's food is absolutely delicious (love both the polenta/poached eggs dish and the ricotta pancakes) with a friendly waitstaff, great music and no huge lines. I love this place! Dino is my go-to Fort Greene dinner location (after Chez Oscar moved to Bed Stuy). Service - always friendly, attentive and accurate. This is a pretty large achievement given the 20+ times I have been there. Ambience - I love the backyard and the dining room. During main volume hours the dining room can get a bit crowded -- it seems like many tables are set up for 3, which causes weird layouts. No 3rd wheels at Dino! Food - I dream about their burrata. A dangerous thing about the Burrata is that it is $18 -- a bit pricey to not list the price - but it is wonderful. I would love it if they had a better beer selection, or maybe wines at happy hour or something -- but it does not stop me from going! Last Sunday we gathered some strength from our lazy bones, product of the gloomy and pouring weather, and headed to Dino. Maybe because of the rain the place was not packed (they seemed to be every time I pass by). Although this isn't very hard to accomplish considering that the venue isn't big. Dino has a nice ambiance, with a soundtrack that I didn't expect from an Italian restaurant: old school hip hop. After the renovation from the previous place (R.I.P. Lulu), they moved the kitchen downstairs, providing more space to cram the tables together. This means that you can prepare to eavesdrop you next table's conversation, and vice versa; I wouldn't recommend to you to talk about how many kilos you cut last night. The staff here are friendly and attentive which kind of surprised me because they were so hipster looking. Yes, my mama told me not to judge a book by its covers but sadly some restaurants in Brooklyn and LES have slapped me in the face on that. Personally, I had a good experience with the food. We ordered the grilled vegetable platter for appetizer which was delicious and was a perfect serving size for two to share. M. ordered Tagliata Toscana and I ordered the Black Linguine. His skirt steak was not memorable and he would not order that again if we come back; the black linguine was fresh and so was the sauce. There was plenty of calamari in the sauce, so were herbs like basil which I found textures of it as I devoured my dish. This is just fine in my book, basil also happens to be one of my favorite herbs. However, I can see some people getting upset that the presence of herbs being too strong since this is very subjective. ( I would roll eyes if I were chewing on the actual rosemary.). My only problem with this place is their timing on serving the dishes. This seems to be a repeating theme after reading all the reviews here. Manager of Dino, are you reading this? Half way through our appetizer, they came with our entree. Note, half way... not just one slice of eggplant left on the plate. We were not nibbling on the vegetables, M. and I were actually hungry that we were shutting up and focusing on our appetizer so we were by no means slow. The table was small so the timing of the dishes coming out is really vital here. Don't get me wrong, I love piping hot food but couldn't your kitchen slow down ten more minutes? Or have the waiter check on our progress instead of bringing in the food THEN ask us if he should bring it out later. If you are visiting, I would suggest you to try the pasta dishes. read more

Two brunch trips here, no dinner (yet). The savory farro porridge is a great idea for a dish. Farro (my favorite grain) could not have been better. Hearty, and flavorful, filled with prosciutto, each bite made me wanting more and more. However, the poached eggs on top, which in theory are perfect, were just a bit over-poached. I wanted the runny yolk to meld with the rich farro in the strongest way, but it just didn't happen. Also tried the eggs ragu. Baked eggs on a red meat sauce with baguette. The sauce was great, meaty and well balanced and it paired perfectly with the soft, runny eggs. I definitely want to try dinner here, and a bunch of there other brunch items. The menu seems great and so far I've enjoyed the other dishes. Good coffee and service too. Expect a long wait and crowded trip though :(. read more

I wanted to love this place. But in the end, it falls into what I believe is the most obnoxious "genre" of Brooklyn restaurants: the ones that look adorable, say and present everything in the right way, but whose food falls ridiculously (almost insultingly) short of expectations. I had sauteed calamari as an appetizer, and it was good - it was served slightly lukewarm whereas I would have preferred it to be hot, but oh well. For my main course I had spaghetti with a lemon sauce and "salted anchovies" on top, for an additional $3. This was essentially a too-big bowl of extremely bland pasta and nothing else, with TWO anchovies on top. $1.50 per anchovy?! Come on. I don't think it would have killed the restaurant to throw in some capers, some green onions, some chopped cherry tomatoes - anything to make it something more than a really disappointing, really flavorless bowl of pasta. My friend's crostini with pate was oily but passable. His entree - black linguini with calamari and spicy sauce - was almost as bland as mine. The sauce wasn't spicy - it tasted like a can of diced tomatoes was opened up and emptied onto the bowl. I really think some veggies thrown into this (along with crushed red peppers, salt and pepper) would have gone a long way. That being said, the staff was wonderful. I felt bad that they had to serve such sub-par food; Dino is really over-hyped, and I expected it to be so much better than it was. read more

Its cooked - Its RAW - Its dry - o wait it has rosemary on it. Me and my friend wanted to try this place well my friend more then me, so i agreed and we went on a sat night. Got seated right away by a hosts/waiter/ i dunno some one that works there. The place looks cramp but actually the seats are not that bad. We sat down looked at the menu and the addition to the menu page was handed to us, I mean i understand one or two items but 6? just put it on the menu or something. The waitress came over we got drinks wine and beer. The beer is decent price about 5 bucks or so the selections well lets just say im glad they had more then one beer option on it. The wine was like 9 bucks i honestly thought it would come in a bigger glass then it did, either A) lower the price or B) put it ina bigger glass. The appetizer came which was calamari, to my surprise they where not deep fried but fried on a pan, with LOTS AND LOTS of Rosemary. Was not the best dish in the world but was not that bad, but i def didnt like the whole leafs of rosemary in it and burnt garlic. Nothing like sitting at a table and picking out rosemary and burnt garlic from your teeth. - Delish. Moving on to the main course, i got the pork chop maleness with green salad. When it came out i cut a piece and bit into it and guess what managed to burn my tongue b/c the hot oil was still on it. The waitress at most could have said we just picked it out of the fryer or something. The salad was bathed in some dressing which i wish came on a side. My friend got the rosemary chicken with mash potato and spinach. Looked good when it came out two pieces of a chicken which looked good. So my friend is eating it and then BAM i get a question is that blood, im like where he is like look here in the chicken. I looked at it and was like YA its raw. He got the waiter and sent it back. Personally i would think the chef would just re-fire a new one, but that's just me. Any who the waitress gave him a glass of wine on a house. Which i thought was nice, then the chicken came out again. I looked at it thought it was nice, but no it was the same 2 pieces just put back on a grill cooked till it was well done and dry. They added some more mash to the plate. The chicken went form being moist and juicy, to something that tasted like saw dust, but let me tell you it was NOT bloody or raw. I would think for the amount of money your charging for the chicken you can make a new one. I mean come one your serving raw chicken i think that's the first thing they teach you in cooking school no raw chicken. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE. My friend went back in a day or so and ordered the fish - want to take a guess how the fish came out. Here is a hint 3 letter word. - RAW- OK, i understand one time maybe it was just an accident, you where busy and blah blah. But two times, come on there is no excuse for that. But i was informed the hand made pasta is good. I'm just wondering if this place has issues cooking anything that was alive at some point like chicken and fish. I really don't know if i would go back and get anything with meat or fish. The staff can dress a bit more cohesive, everyone wearing what ever they want and shorts. At some point you don't know if they are the guest or they actually work there. This place started off with 3 stars then went to 1 star in one cluck of a chicken.
