During my life, I've been exposed to a lot of radiation. I've had interventional fluoroscopy and CT…read morescans performed multiple times. Because of this, I try to limit non-essential radiation exposure. I went to Lumos to get my teeth cleaned. The dentist told me that I needed to get an x-ray first, which I declined. Then, she didn't ask why I declined, she didn't ask whether my family has a history of radiation-associated leukemias, she didn't ask whether I was on immunosuppressive medicines that could make me more vulnerable to radiation. The dentist didn't ask me anything. She rudely told me that I shouldn't come to Lumos. The entire process felt disrespectful and dehumanizing. I would recommend against coming here.

I found Dr. Lerch because one of my side veneers fell out while I was flossing. I soon messaged two…read moredifferent offices. The contrast in responses told me everything I needed to know. Dr. Lerch personally responded the same night after hours (while the competing office got back to me the following morning, asked all the same questions I had already answered in their online intake form, and then recommended I schedule an appointment in two weeks). She messaged to let me know they consider this an emergency and would prioritize it (it's very painful and hot/cold sensitive to have an exposed tooth with veneer missing). I was in her chair getting the veneer reattached the following day. Altogether it took less than 30 minutes. Admittedly, I came to Dr. Lerch's office with some quiet distrust of dental offices in general. However, I have since found that I can completely trust Dr. Lerch's office with the full scope of my dental care, and so I also recently decided to move forward with a lingual frenectomy that had been impacting my speech for decades but I kept avoiding. The procedure took minutes and was entirely painless. Lastly I'll add that what makes this place truly exceptional is that Dr. Lerch's care and standards are not limited to her. Every person I have spoken to in the office shares the same qualities, whether Robby, Rahisha, Karen, or anyone else. It's clear that Dr. Lerch's values shape who she hires, and it shows in every interaction. I am glad I found her office.

I got multiple fillings from him two years ago on the left side of my mouth and they are STILL sensitive. I learned my lesson early, switched to another dentist to do fillings on the right side and what do you know, the other dentist's work is just fine. Not only are my fillings by Dr. T terrible, he also took unusual breaks during the procedure, leaving me to sit there waiting with chunks of multiple teeth drilled out. I went to the bathroom during his break once and saw my teeth without the fillings -- horrifying. No one should ever have to see their own mouth like that. And lastly, I requested that my records and x-rays be sent from his office to my current dentist THREE times over the course of a week, once during my first appointment with my new dentist because they still hadn't sent them after asking twice. As a result, I had to get all new x-rays that my insurance wouldn't cover. That's money lost because of his negligent staff. So in case I haven't warned you enough, please please do not go to this place. You can find much better. I know I did.

Didn't record my pocket health even after I inquired. The hygienist continued against my protest and inquiries. They told me "Everything was good" after my x-rays. I told them it was not. I was gaslit for weeks about tooth pain and migraines. They told me to see my PCP who referred me *back* to my dental provider. I returned because my face was swelling, and I knew whatever was wrong wasn't right. They told me to floss and use an electric toothbrush. No x-rays. No emergency exam. No option to yank my tooth. Nothing. Just go home and floss. Ok. I called *again* because things worsened. The receptionist told me to see a TMJ specialist that my insurance would cover. They declined to refer me to this specialist and continued to repeat "call your provider to see who is in network". No sense of urgency. No option. No way to see the dentist so that he could refer me. They told me to wait four months until he *would* see me again. And then they said they were booked out five months. So, which was it? They claimed that I couldn't pay out of pocket, but the truth is that Chapel Street (and other facilities) discriminates towards those of us with Husky Insurance. No way that any ethical practitioner would see my x-rays and send me on my way without a treatment plan. I'm not a trained professional and I knew something wasn't right. I wouldn't recommend that anyone go to them. If you're in pain, go to a reputable place and ask for a payment plan. You'll regret letting them near your mouth.

Having been born without the 2 adult lateral incisors, I had been struggling with the situation since age 13. I had Marilyn bridges and later got implants and crowns (not from New Haven Prosthodontics). Although I was grateful to have the spaces filled, I was not comfortable showing my real, full smile.
