I was a patient since 2019 and I never have issues but I did only cleaning. this year I decided to do some filling, and they were convincing me to do a filling even I have a small chipped to my front tooth he told me I will get you smile back but I regrated I get the worse once the first day he filled it after 2 days it dropped. I am writing this on behalf on two family members who do not access this app. Long Wharf Dental Group is not a good place to go to for dental work. In 2024, (both family members) daughter and mother had attended a scheduled appointment. They had waited for more than an hour to be called. Mother had noticed that they took in EVERYONE before them. Nobody even came by to check on them and let them know they would be dealt with soon. Horrible, horrible, patient care skills. They took in a patient who was being rude. He was insisting that he needed to be taken in as if he was the only patient there. And believe it or not, they took him in! They had decided to walk out after waiting that full hour. The office staff here regularly give out inaccurate information. When they are asked to check with insurance about a claim they fail to follow-up. The hygienist is good (Angela) but the office management is aggravating enough that it is not worth going to this practice. read more

This practice is illegally holding our records. The front office staff is horrible. If I could give negative stars I would. The office manager is disrespectful and just plain nasty. I wish we had gone somewhere else for our care. Btw I posted a similar review on their Facebook page and they blocked me within minutes. Update: Legal department told office manager she had to comply with my request. So I am getting the records. But it took more than ten phone calls, a call to the CT Dental Association and texting with my attorney. I would think the office manager of a health care provider should have at least a passing acquaintance with HIPAA regulations. Not to mention CT state laws about dental records. read more

This place is wonderful. I came to this dentist (referred by my coworker ) after having a horrible experience with Aspen Dental. Dr Lerman is fantastic, and is expertly working on a tooth that I am trying to save instead of pulling it , which I appreciate greatly. He is friendly , patient , understanding, and greatly skilled. The office is modern, clean , efficient , and the staff are very nice. They offer payment plans that are very manageable and even space the work over several visits to work with the payment plan set up. I have already referred several more of my coworkers and will continue. I also have taken my children and I can only say the entire staff is exceptional. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!! They do not care about you, all they care about is your money$$$. They are crooks, shamelessly pushing unneeded services and products like used car salesmen. The front office staff are beyond unfriendly, they are outright rude. And god forbid you call the office to ask about a questionable charges, you will get the run around for months! What's worse is the total lack of compassion once you are in the chair. The Dr. is in such a hurry to see(charge) as many people that he pushes the nerve block injection as fast as possible to save time. I have never had more painful injections than I have at this office, not to mention the god awful root canal that he totally botched. Worst experience of my life. I was having what felt like a panic attack after the Dr. gave me a few injections and started immediately working on my tooth. I tried telling him I couldn't breathe and my heart was beating really fast. He did not stop. He made me feel like I was being dramatic instead of telling me that the lidocaine injection actually has epinephrine in it. So as if that wasn't bad enough he didn't clean the root out enough and sealed it back up. Not a month later I had terrible pain and another infection in the tooth he preformed the root canal on. Thankfully, I since have found an excellent Dentist/practice. Everyone is top notch. When they tried to get X-rays from Dr. Lehman staff they never sent them over. Oh and don't believe all the pretty reviews on google. They uncomfortably force you to give them a review before you even leave the office. They made up some story that they were in a review competition with another office and they wanted to win. Seriously- No Joke!! Stay away, you are just a pocketbook to them. read more

Rothman has retired and been replaced by Dr. Eben and Dr. Light. Dr. Eben is very inexperienced and asks advice from Dr. Light often, and it is super awkward because they both work really hard to just ignore you and talk over your head. At my last appointment, I had a problem they were trying to address, and I had to interrupt Dr. Light and just keep talking and refuse to stop until he acknowledged me; he got frustrated and stomped out of the room. The practice was absolutely wonderful when Rothman was there, but now it is a pretty awful experience, I feel really bad for all the admins because they are all really very nice and obviously care, but they can only do so much. read more

I went here for the first time since moving to the area and it was a very unpleasant experience. The cleaning was the most painful cleaning I have experienced (and I get them often). Also, the hygienist pressured me into buying both an expensive automatic tooth brush and air flosser, insisting that I needed them. She informed me of a rebate opportunity that ended up being a farce, so I never received the "deal" they claimed. She put me on the spot and I ended up leaving having spent $200 more than I would at my previous dentist. I'd rather not have a salesperson clean my teeth, so I won't be back. read more

I was subsequently contacted by the office manager about my initial visit. She apologized profusely for the unpleasant experience of my first visit, and took responsibility for the ambiguous wording on the coupon that led to the confusion. She implored for Long Wharf Dental Group to be given a second chance and after further discussion regarding the bill, I agreed to the second chance. I must say that the entire staff was very gracious upon our return. The dental hygienist Geraldine was just excellent, she was very personable while simultaneously professional, a perfect mix. I felt my Mother was in very good hands. After getting her teeth cleaned she had a comprehensive exam and the Doctor made every effort to put my Mother at ease and was very thorough in explaining everything. I am very satisfied with the treatment my Mother received today and based on today's visit I would recommend the Long Wharf Dental Group the next time you need dental services. read more

Called because of an emergency when they were closed, and Dr. Lerman called back within 5 minutes, and was at the office to meet us in a little over an hour. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Barry Rothman for years. I cannot say much for him except that he always just did the job. He neither wowed nor disappointed. Unfortunately, Dr. Rothman's average performance is completely overshadowed by the soulless woman at the front who are devoid of personality, kindness, and most of all, common courtesy. Upon walking in the office, the women are borderline combative and never bother to so much as to greet you with a simple "hello." If you need to ask a question, you will be met with petulant, eye-rolling gossipmongers, who don't give a whit about their patients' needs or well-being. You quickly learn to not ask questions in order to avoid waking the beasts and also because they never give accurate information. Fortunately, you can just ask the dental hygienist most of your questions and make appointments with them. For years I have received a desensitizing treatment along with my routine cleaning. Due to changes, that were never explained, the treatment is no longer available with the cleaning. When I questioned about whether or not the insurance would cover the treatment, the dental hygienist advised me to speak to the secretaries to avoid giving me wrong information. What a concept. So I built up the courage and poked the beast. I asked how much the treatment would cost. To my surprise, the treatment would cost only $7.40. I asked several times if I would be charged anything else and I was told no each time. They had an opening for the next day so I made the appointment. After receiving the treatment, I went back up to the front desk and handed the woman exactly $7.40. She told me I was short because the treatment costs $10. I asked her to please look again because I was told that it was $7.40. She begrudgingly looked again and said that I was correct and took the money. All was well until about a month later when I received a bill for $20 from the office. This bill was strange for two reasons. First, I paid the full amount told to me. Second, the office makes it VERY clear that all payments must be made the day you receive the treatment. They do not bill. So immediately, I have my father call and over the phone he was told that the treatment actually cost $27.40 therefore I have a balance of $20. He asks to speak to someone in charge because it does not make sense that I would only pay exactly $7.40 and leave the remaining amount. Especially since billing has never been an option. He is told that I must have been mistaken and the original conversation did not happen the way it did but Andrea would call him the next day. Andrea never called. So again he calls and she said she needs to speak to corporate and she will get back to him. Again, she does not call back. Finally, my father calls again and he is told that their lawyers said we have to pay the $20 because it would be insurance fraud to waive the co-pay. It sad and disheartening that the old axiom, "the customer is always right" no longer means anything and that they are willing to sever a long term relationship with a family of five over $20. read more

This is a great dental office! I've been coming here for a few years now and have had a great experience every visit. The location is super convenient (right off 95) and I appreciate that they have early morning hours so I can take care of most of my appointments before work. More importantly, the staff is great: the front desk staff and 3 hygienists I've seen have all been lovely and so sweet and Dr. Rothman has such a calming presence. Dr Lerman is wonderful, very kind and compassionate. The hygenist's are very good as well, also kind and compasionate. The office staff, however are awful, I found them to be rude and their billing practices are questionable. Great dentist questionable support staff. I was given an expensive specialized cleaning with no prior notice or information that we were deviating from the norm. I was then told at the receptionist desk that I needed to pay a large out of pocket bill. Then once I cancelled all my follow up appointments the office manager contacted me and was dismissive and belittling. I have been a patient for nine years but that's the last straw of many.
