My longtime experience is that Dion's is always wonderfully run. Their pizza is NOT my favorite style (I'm from Back East and have different expectations that don't involve ranch dressing), but it's a known quantity, it's delivered hot and reasonably fast and it's locally beloved - people from Albuquerque rave about Dion's pizza. (Myself, I'd rather have one of their salads or sandwiches, but I do have a slice sometimes.) The service is always wonderful, polite and efficient. The dining rooms are always cleaned and comfortable. The prices are always reasonable. It's just a pro-level business - those two kids who started what they'd intended to call Dionysus' Pizza probably never imagined they were launching a regional icon, but they sure did. We have been going to the Dion's on Montgomery for some time. The service and quality have always been fine, until tonight. 45 minutes after calling in our to go order for a sub, we had nothing. The most impressive thing about Dion's was the "ant colony kitchen." Seriously, aside from perhaps In 'n Out, I have never seen more people working in one kitchen, and the choreography required for so many people to churn out so many pizzas in such a small small space without constantly running each over is impressive. After seeing the (also In 'n Out-esque) drive through pick-up line, we opted to park and go in to collect our food. I'm so glad we did, because the crazy kitchen scene wass worth the price of the pizza alone. That said, the pizza was pretty decent. Now, I'm a pepperoni guy myself, but my ABQ hosts love the 505, and pep and green chile seemed appropriately New Mexican for this visiting San Diegan, so I was game for a slight change in pace. While I didn't really care for chilis on my pizza, Dion's otherwise served up a pretty tasty pie. It wasn't my all-time favorite, but definitely worth getting again the next time I'm in Albuquerque, sans the chile of course. Came in on a busy Friday night with cars wrapped around the building for the drive through. The service inside was still friendly and quick and my food was great. I hate to give a 3 star review but the Morris location has really gone down hill. The portions are smaller and inconsistent the last 3 times I've been there. The food here is pretty good. Good fresh pizza and salads. I've never had any of their sandwiches though. I'm dinging them down 2 stars only due to the fact that they keep the dining area at 65 degrees. This isn't the first time I have experienced this at this particular location. Fine if I'm coming in from triple digit and high humidity but a relatively cooler fall evening, this isn't necessary. My location. The original location. Store #1 for a reason, baby! (If you couldn't tell, I used to work at this location. You would think that after having worked at this location 2.5 years that I would be tired of pizza.... WRONG! I probably eat here more now than when I worked there. So many different combinations and flavors and the green chile is perfect. Just wish the prices wouldn't keep going up. Now, working at Dion's made me some of the best friends I ever had and still talk to til this day. But, boy we did work hard. Coming home after a 5-hour shift covered in sweat, running, and having designated work pants because your car perpetually smells like an oily pizza, dealing with customers that talk back to you after putting in a full day at school, the AC in the back not working on a hot summer day, turnover of managers that continuously become younger than you are, and then just getting 1 slice of pizza to reward you for the day. I would never dream of reviewing a Domino's, or a Pizza Hut, or any corporate type pizza joint, unless something horrendous was going on in one & I thought I better warn people to stay away. Having that said, or written, I'm not sure if there is a point to reviewing Dion's either. However, this chain of Pizza joints is a bit unique & they're indigenous to Albuquerque, therefore, it's not really a corporate giant & has some pretty cool individuality. As a newbie to the ABQ, I've heard people mention Dion's and most verbal reviews were pretty positive, but I had yet to try them. Today, for no particular reason other than we were hungry & one happened to leap out in front of us, we gave em a go. I was under the impression they also offered some lasagna type dishes, and quite frankly, is what I was in the mood for. But alas, to my surprise, all they had to offer was pizza, salads & subs. So as the good troopers we were, we took part & ordered a couple pizzas & a sub. One was a Pineapple with extra cheese that my daughter wanted & a smaller "Gourmet" pizza that sounded delish, "The Tuscany." It had a pesto sauce, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes and mozzarella. I liked it, a lot! The pineapple (Hawaiian to most American pizza parlors) was pretty good as well. But to my surprise, the roast beef sub my wife ordered was really good. It was toasted & they provide a Greek dressing intended to pour on it that really paired well. I was impressed! The whole place had a neat vibe to it with the dozens of employees you saw behind the counter, back in the kitchen area, prepping the pizzas and all bouncing a million miles a minute! And they all had a pretty positive, jovial attitude to boot. It was refreshing! Plenty of seating, and what seemed extra cool, was the drive thru window. Apparently you can call in ahead & then zip through the drive thru to pick it up. However, maybe the coolest part of all, they had a viewing area designed so the customer could view the pizza makers perform their pie magic. It was a definite hit with my 7-year-old. This Dion's is so hit or miss when it comes to the pizza. Its almost always never cut all the way through, slices are always wonky sizes and mostly soggy in the middle and never seems really cooked all the way through. When the pizza is soggy in the middle the toppings NEVER stay on the slice when you try and get it out of the box. I also want to HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you dont fill your drinks so full that the soda POURS out of the straw hole and then hand it out the drive thru window like its no big deal. The person at the window didnt attempt to or give me any napkins until I asked for them. I mean come on if you cant see BROWN soda POURING out the top of a cup that has a WHITE lid then you need glasses. It was TOTALLY obvious to me that it was spilling from the straw hole, how can your employee miss it ? There are better locations and if I hadnt been in the area and not raining I would have seriously gone to a different store. I love the pizza, but you would think that after months of the pandemic, they would figure out how to make their drive thru more efficient. When we got there, the drive thru line was only 3/4 of the way around the building, which is pretty good for Dion's. It took over 20 minutes to get to the window. By the time we got there, the line was out to the street. The easy suggestion to have the person outside that asks what you ordered so that they can get it ready to also take your payment. I have been waiting to try Dions for a long time. I've heard so many good things about the food. Being in Albuquerque a lot I finally got the chance. The food is really good. I was inside the very busy establishment and where it looked like total chaos the food was getting out and very quickly. I had an Italian sub. It was probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The half sub came in a box with chips and Greek dressing. The Greek dressing was like an Italian dressing but with more flavor to pour on your sandwich. It was delicious. I'm super glad I only got a half because a whole sub would have not been eaten. I'm a believer and will be getting my sub fix in the next time I'm in Albuquerque. read more

We ordered a couple pizzas this past weekend and I was pretty underwhelmed. Honestly, it didn't taste much better than Pizza Hut or Domino's to me... kind of greasy. I will say, the crust was really good though. Chewy and crisp at the same time, and not super dense/thick.
