I tried Richie B's a few years ago and I couldn't remember it. I had several people tell me it's the best pizza they have here in ABQ. So I had to try it again. It's okay. 3 stars is A-OKAY. I still don't understand why pizza is so expensive in ABQ, but alas it is. Crust texture is good, but that's the only thing memorable about the slice. It's good, but nothing really stood out. I prefer Pizza Castle. Again, expensive pizza, but each bite makes you want more. I grew up in NJ where the competition for pizza is thick. So far in ABQ, Pizza Castle is the closest I've had that gives me a twinkle of home. read more

Made our way across town for what we heard was a Thanksgiving pizza that we had to give a try before the big day! The work fam and I trekked across town from the south valley up to the heights for this one. We ordered the thanksgiving slice to share and then big backed the menu with four more slices of pizza, an order of wings, cheese curds and a salad. The food came out in intervals which was nice, kept us busy snacking until we got all our food. The cashier was super friendly and made our stay quite nice! We were the only table there, but shortly after we ordered, their small dining room was packed! They seem to be a fan favorite for a slice of pizza. Everything we ordered was delicious! I highly recommend the wings, curds and salad. Be sure to get the ranch too, I'm positive it's made in house and oh so tasty. Ritchie B's is a thin crust style pizza, just so you know before you go! I've heard so much about Richie B's Pizza since moving to Albuquerque. I knew I wanted to bring my son to check it out when he came to visit. I finally had a chance to bring him when he came recently and it was a hit! My oldest son loved the Monster Slice, my husband and my youngest son raved about the stuffed tamale crust pizza. Super family friendly pizza shop!! There's always families with kids when I come in.... Well when you offer a Monster slice, which equivalent to a whole pizza I can see the desire!! My mom and I just stopped here for lunch at the new location the one that's on answer I'm sure they'll change the address here shortly. Also the Google Maps needs to be changed as well but that's not why I'm here. We drove all the way from Uptown to Hunter to drop off some stickers and to try the pizza. I'm telling you it's really really good and there's pizza all over town. We're gonna come back a ton of times. I think next time we're gonna just get a whole pizza and take it to go! We walked in and decided based on the posters on the wall it must be NY style. 2 sizes to order from 12" small and larger 18". If you're adventurous there's always the 25" pizza. The Small Supreme was plenty for us. It came out quickly and hot. The pizza was loaded with topping and despite the water content of some toppings the pie wasn't soggy. It was thin enough to eat as any New Yorker would - folded over. But you're not limited to pies. Subs, salads & slices are on the menu. Pizza is alright. Moderately better than a chain and prices are ok at best. Where this place suffers is speed and quality of service. I waited over an hour during off-hours (1-2pm) for my mega-slice and walked up to the counter to get my money back when my slice came out. Sure, it's a mega-slice. But that's really no larger than a whole pie. At a fast casual place like this, wait times are not meant to be an hour. In fact, if my friends didn't insist on waiting, I would have left after about 30 mins. An hour for food here is unacceptable when you're getting $120 in business between my friends and I. So what went wrong? My guess is that the oven is too small or cooks at EZ bake oven temps or there isn't enough staff working in the back of the house. With enough staff prepping the pizza and a proper pizza oven, you should easily be able to crank out 3-4 mega slices or a few whole pies in 10 mins or less. At the bare minimum, you might offer some free salads if you know a guest has been waiting that long. read more

I really think that the things slice here at Richie B's is just something you have to try for yourself to truly understand. it's become a favorite holiday tradition of mine and undoubtedly something I will go out of my way to try every year. This review is very much about the Thanksgiving slice and not the regular pizza. The Thanksgiving slice is something they do every year around Thanksgiving for a limited time and in limited quantities. It features all the classics, including turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce and stuffing. It's such an interesting and fun take on the holiday season and overall just really good. The first time I tried it, I definitely approached it with some caution, but I'm hooked. Same thing yesterday when I told my sister, I was going to get a slice and she hesitated to join me. But I convinced her to just try some, she also felt like it was super awesome. I will warn you to check their social media because again it is available in limited quantities, and they only do it for a limited time during the holiday season. Ok here's the deal, the size of the slice doesn't matter big , bigger what ever. Pizza was terrible on a serious note this tasted nothing like New York Pizza. No flavor in the dough and not enough cheese on the slice. Further more I would have not commented until I used the rest room and observed roaches on the wall. It's a lot like a real Mom and Pop Long Island pizza place. It's a place where you'd go if it was your neighborhood place, but you wouldn't drive to the next town for it. The pies are solidly good, though not great. The value is really pretty terrific: check out the size of those slices - two slices will fill up the average man at lunch. The people are nice. The room is okay - just what you'd expect. They keep it clean. Oh yeah: their chile drizzle oil is very tasty . . . and not inexpensive at all. If you're from Back East, Richie B's is a lot like places you've been - and that is worth points in a city of philistines that raves about notso-hotso pizza dipped in Ranch dressing (ugh). I like Richie B's enough that I now meet people here for lunch but I've twice come by when they have been closed during regular lunch hours for some problem that both times seemed vaguely Third World and we've had to find an alternative. (Say what you will about the Ranch Dressing barbarians, they run a professional bunch of shops.) So, I'm kinda between three and four stars here . . . 4.5 for value, 3.75 (better than okay, maybe not quite "good pizza; you gotta try this!") for food quality, 4 for the feel of the place and 3 for having their act together . . . Today we came here for the first time because we heard it's good and of course the novelty of the monster slice. This ended up being super delicious. Cool decor on the wall and the paintings. I love New York style pizza. I was able to finish my monster slice of pizza and green chile. Got my daughter a small cheese thinking she'd eat half or less than half and have leftovers but to my surprise she ate the entire thing minus a few crusts. Would recommend! read more

Brought my kids here today for some pizza when approaching the door we had no idea we were going to be blown away! Their customer service is great very polite and prompt. Inside has a lot of New York decorations. We ordered two mother slices and a regular slice. When they say monster they mean monster my slice was as wide as the width of my shoulders. One really awesome decoration is the tv is has clips of Richie and the business. Richie was very polite and helpful making sure everyone in there is satisfied. First time trying this place after hearing so much hype and finally having some down time I figured I'd it was time to try it. Walking in the staff was very friendly. For such a small place it was packed to the brim when I arrived. Luckily I ordered ahead for take out. I'd heard so much about the famous mega slice and although I was up for a challenge I settled for a basic 18 inch pie. I got the usual 505 style pepperoni with some mushrooms and of course who could forget the green chilies. On the walk from the counter to the car I got a whiff of garlic and seasoning which sounded promising. When I opened the box the pie was beautiful. Unfortunately the mirage faded as I took the first bite. The sauce was very garlicky and over spiced. It overpowered the rest of the toppings. To be honest it was a bit too much for me and I didn't really enjoy it. It just wasn't for me. I don't think I'll be returning. read more

If you're in it for simply the novelty of the 25" pie, by all means, it's your dime, not mine and if you happen to like the very edges of your crust to resemble charcoal even if it's just the 18" pie, then this is the place for you! Also be forewarned that toppings are scarce, but come at a premium and you"ll get more crust than you bargained for. Overall opinion- completely overhyped and way overpriced. We went in on a slow Saturday evening. Service was awesome. The gal behind the counter was on top of everything and very nice. I got a slice of Hawaiian, and the supreme slice. My GF got a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. I think simple is the way for this style of pizza, because both of her slices were better than mine. The salad was really good! It needs croutons added to it....but it was good with the balsamic dressing..... The Hawaiian i got has crushed pineapple just kind of plopped all over the top after the pizza is cooked...It makes for a wet clumpy mess. It was horrible. By far the worst Hawaiian pizza I've ever had and I would not order this again here. The supreme was not good either. I think the onions may have been sauteed before hand, or something, but the taste, and texture of the onions were way off. The red peppers didn't go either and I believe were also sauteed beforehand. The supreme I was craving was much different than what they do for the supreme. I would definitely never get a supreme here either. The cheese was pretty good, although there was barely any sauce to it. We didn't eat the pepperoni because we were too full. The next day heated in the toaster oven it was really good though. Their crust is really good and the best part of what they got going. Thin and crispy! The sauce is lacking a bit, and overall I was a bit underwhelmed by this most recent visit. It'll probably be some time before we choose to come back, but when we do I'll definitely make sure to get something simple. read more

Like everyone, I came here to try the giant slice pizza that they're know for. The pizza is too thin with small toppings. You get better value buying from Saggio's or even Dion's. I paid ~$42 for the giant 25" pie. Giant 25" ($29.99) + supreme toppings ($7) + tax = $42.21. Overall, I'm not satisfied with this pizza. To compete against other local pizza places that are non-fast food, you get better value- size, and taste buying from Saggios or even Dion's. I'm puzzled by all the great reviews of this pizza. I found it very overpriced for what I got. It was mediocre at best. My mom said it was probably the worst pizza she's ever had, but I think that was an exaggeration because she was so annoyed. Our main dislikes: 1. Cracker thin crust and the toppings stopped nearly 2" from the outside of the edge on some slices, leaving way too much crust. And too much cornmeal underneath made it grainy tasting. I didn't specify crust type when ordering, so I don't know if that would have made a difference. 2. Not enough sauce; could hardly see, much less taste it. 3. Just under $28 for a two topping pizza seemed overly expensive for that amount of food. No heft to it at all. Flavor was pretty good. We ordered a supreme 25 inch pizza and I came out looking like I won the "Golden Ticket "the crust was absolutely thin and crispy like the way we wanted it! This pizza joint in a strip mall has now become our favorite in fact we have been there three times within the week we were were visiting Albuquerque. For the next two orders we ordered a supreme with green chili. Boy, that was the game changer. We also asked for them to cook the pizza "well done " and that was the key to making this an absolute favorite for our family. 3.75 stars Richie B's... home of the monster slice and the Thanksgiving pizza (don't knock it til you try it)! It's a special that comes around for the last half of November (I missed it last year). I called in my order right when they opened (you can't order this specialty slice online) and was told it would be about 20 min. By the time I got there, the pun'kin pie cannolis that I had ordered were still being put together (the cash register was down so I guess I had to wait anyways). I guess I was the first customer of the day and most of the tables inside were empty at the time. The owner rung me up himself, which was a nice surprise. The slice itself was huge (!), covering two paper plates and I was only able to finish less than half of it at once. For $8, it came with sliced turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cheddar, and cranberry sauce on top. Sadly, I noticed when I got home that the side of gravy that was promised was nowhere to be found. Luckily, I had gravy at home. The mashed potatoes were kind of bland with the turkey, cheddar, and cranberries really adding to the overall flavor. I liked the thin, crispy crust on the pizza. I got three of the cannolis ($5.95) and they were a good size- topped with pecans and plenty of pumpkin flavoring. No whipped cream was to be found on top either.
