Ordered delivery, they took an hour and charged an extra 7.50 for delivery. Called in, rude waitress answered with 'its just understood we charge that much'...uh huh. No one told me when I made the order. I ignored her and went to eat the food...the chicken 'fried' rice was steamed and flavourless, chop suey a shapeless pale mass with just as little flavour. Didn't even bother with the ribs or spring roll. Called to return it, they eventually accepted...except when the delivery guy came to my door they only authorised an amount 8$ less than I paid. Never, ever again I'm not from Fredericton, maybe this kind of thing is passable here, but no where else in the world. read more

I had a chance to have a meal at "The Dip," as they are notable called, last evening. I had ordered the hot turkey plate with fries. Admittedly, it was pretty good except for some overly chewy pieces of turkey which I believe shouldn't have been added into their mixture of turkey to begin with. The service was relatively good but if there was one word to properly describe the comfort of "The Dip" I would use the word, CRAMPED. From the parking outside to the waiting area to the restaurant itself its hugely cramped. The waitress knocked my jacket off the seat and onto the floor in passing, spilled water on other diners when she poured water into their drink and they appeared a bit flustered possibly from working in a cramped environment. Overall, I'm unlikely to return to this restaurant unless I'm with others who want to go. My suggestions to the management is to develop a decent size parking lot, renovate the size of the interior and consider the fact that if your restaurant is as cramped as it you can imagine how noisy it is in general. Lastly, carefully select your pieces of meat for your meals. Nothing is more gross than chewing on pieces of gristle. read more

My wife and I come to the Diplomat every trip to Fredericton. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is great. If you have to wait for a seat. Be patient it's worth it. I would nominate this for the best buffet award. The company is also amazing. read more

While a little on the expensive side, I have never once been disappointed by The Diplomat and I eat here almost every week. They deliver 24/7 and have a wide range of food. Their dispatchers and delivery people are kind and pay attention. What more could one ask for? I'd definitely eat there a lot more were they to offer a student discount though... *hint hint* read more

We had an incredible meal. We all had the seafood buffet. Crab legs, mussles, huge succulent shrimp. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. I had brunch here with some friends. I had been here in the past and did not enjoy my meal but figured I'd give it a second shot. I guess I should begin with a positive: The waitress was great about keeping our water glasses full and we got a tasty chocolate mint stick with our bill. The food was not good. Having grown up in Fredericton I've eaten here more then I care to admit. The food and menu has changed quite a bit over the years, not for the better. It's pretty basic and boring. Today was particularly bad, my omelette was too full of veggies which made the omelette soggy. Also super bland. The English muffin on my husbands eggs Benny was totally burnt. He didn't notice it at first but I did notice our waitress circling our table several times and looking down at his plate, he eventually picked up on the fact that his english muffin was burnt and told the waitress (he hates to complain about his food in fear that kitchen staff will "do" something to his food in anger). Her reply was "oh thats why i kept checking but you didn't say anything". She acknowledged that she knew it was burnt but served it to us anyway and to make matters worst she didn't take anything off the bill. I don't know in what world this is ok, Gordon Ramsay would of ripped her and that restaurant to shreds. Totally un-acceptable. Had to demand a discount at the front desk and they too acknowledged that our waitress told them about the burnt english muffin?! Enough said, never coming back to this dump. Shame on you diplomat! Look at all your negative reviews, this is your cue to change things around and turn this into a successful restaurant. read more

I usually have the buffet but tonight had a combo plate #1 and my wife combo plate #4. I love honey garlic spareribs, which I can't find in the US. My combo plate also included chicken fried rice, sweet & sour chicken balls, and egg roll. I cleaned the plate and service was great as usual. read more

Best Asian buffet in town. Fresh ingredients, tender meats, excellent seafood (mussels and shrimp) and Chinese fried wings to die for. A little more expensive but the quality is second to none. read more

They charged $7.50 in delivery for an $8.00 meal and no one bothered to mention that fact until the food arrived. I sent it back.

Used to be my favorite place to eat for the last 15 years. I would go at least once per month on average. Its still okay but the price of the Chinese combo #1 that I get every time has increased in price too rapidly in the last couple years. $15 would be a reasonable price for it. At $16 and $17 I would tolerate it because the quality was there and consistent. But now its $18! And the last few times very inconsistent in quality. The chicken balls were undercooked, the rice unfresh; seemed reheated. Another time the almond guy ding and egg roll was cold. My loyalty has now waned and I'm on the lookout for a new fav restaurant. unless they reduce the price and bring back the quality. read more

If there was a way to give this place a lower that 1 star I would. The food is okay and the portion sizes are good but the customer service is the worst I have ever had. My wife and I ordered one of the combos for take out. when I got home I discovered that one of the dishes was that was supposed to be in the combo was left out. We called them thinking that maybe they could drop off the missing dish to the house since they have a delivery service but they were not willing to do that. Okay I tell them that I will come down and get the missing dish. No they wanted me to bring back the whole thing. That seamed strange to me but I threw all of the food back in the take out container and took it back. The woman behind the counter told me that I had taken the chicken balls out of the container and brought it back because she could see the indent where they used to be. Remember that I had taken everything out of the container and had to put it back to bring it back to her. They did give us another order but not before telling me that I was lying to get more food from them. read more

My family gets a large order of chinese food every Christmas eve. We were wanting to order from Winners because we knew that the Diplomat was getting too expensive. Since Winners closed too early, I ordered from the "Dip". I was told by the order taker that I couldn't get a Dinner for 3 (like every other chinese place has available). My son is picky and only likes certain things. I had to order a dinner for 4 and chose to get a half order of extra chicken balls and chicken soo guy thinking that would help with the price. Much to my chagrine, the bill came to $105!!!!! I normally pay $70 max for the above which is with FULL orders of chicken balls and soo guy. I checked the take-out menu, and this is the right price! Save your money and don't go to this place. You can get even better food at Winners on the south side and at Chong place on the north side- with normal prices. What a shame that people go here because of habit, or it's reputation from years ago. Much better alternatives in town besides this overpriced place with no parking. read more
