Good smaller theater. They frequently have limited release or independent movies. Seats are very comfortable even if they're not recliners like some theaters have switched to. Good sound and the screen height is high enough to see it over people in front of you without being so high to cause neck strain. read more

Small but nice local theater. You can usually see movies here that aren't showing at the bigger theater chains like Regal or AMC. We recently say The Irishman here when it had a short one month showing before going to Netflix. As much as I like watching a movie from my comfy couch there's nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen. Seats here are comfortable and normally the theater isn't crowded. The popcorn was good and that always makes me happy. Parking is never a problem. And then there's the added bonus of being able to check out all the cute kitties at 10 Lives Club which is right across the hall! (Adopt a cat!!l) Only complaint was the very sticky floors but nothing so bad that it'll keep me away. read more

Eastern Heels are sort of like the stilettos worn in Japan. But you won't see too many of those here. An underrated and underattended theatre because of nearby Regal. Super sweet and cosy and usually empty. Indie films. 7.50 is still a bit pricy when Dipson used to charge much less only a couple of years ago. But still, it's easily a 4 star movie theatre, and would be higher if theatres in general, and concessions, weren't so outlandishly priced. read more

I like the Dipson Theater chain. They have perhaps 4 around Buffalo. I usually go to the one across fromUB South, but this one was showing something I wanted to see. Pretty comfortable seating, but not recliner seats. The same great popcorn other Dipsons have. Dangerous popcorn. Not cheap but worth it. The employees of this chain are also always pleasant. Always with a smile and plenty of patience. Easy parking here and the entrance is right there. read more

I really wanted to be able to give this theatre a glowing review! I love local businesses, and I love being able to choose them over places like regal and amc. I came here on a movie date with my dad, my first time here. I was expecting this experience to be comparable to the dipson theater in the McKinley mall, and it fell very short. I have grown used to to certain level of comfort at the movies, blame the times. This theater does not have that. No comfy reclining seats, no easily visible bathrooms with multiple stalls. And the prices are higher than Mckinley, which I was not expecting honestly. The staff was friendly and they have dessert deli cookies in the concession stand though! Bonus. read more

Dipson is a small, modest theater that focuses on artsy and indie fare you won't find at the larger chains. Right now this specific location is hosting the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival. WNY has a lot of film festivals and a growing film industry. Very exciting time. Today was my first time at the theater to see the screening of a friend's short film as part of the festival. It's well kept and up to date, but don't come expecting stadium seating or recliners. The sound and video are high quality. A must visit if you're looking for an alternative to Hollywood blockbusters. read more

This is my favorite movie theater. I get cranky if I have to go to any other theater. It's not super fancy but perfect for me. 1. They have good movie theater popcorn. They don't go crazy with the artificial flavors. I don't feel sick to my stomach when I leave the movie theater. 2. They show indie or low budget movies. You don't come here if you want to watch transformers or the latest super hero movie. You come to this movie theater bc you want to watch a movie that will make you think and feel things. They play lots of movies from the Sundance festivals. I have even seen a foreign movie here that was fantastic. 3. No crowds. Yay!!!!!! 4. Mature audience. Another Yay!!! 5. No stressful lines 6. I love this theater because of the films they show. I love Dipson for being the small theaters that work so hard for such a small audience. This particular Dipson is so sad you just feel sorry for it. They did upgrade their seats -not to the recliners like the Amherst and McKinley, but better- and they accept chip cards...so they're trying. It's not the best theater experience, but I like to support them so we continue to have theaters in town showing independent films. read more

First to note: you get into this theater at the BACK side of the Eastern Hills Mall, near where the DMV entrance is. I didn't see anything on the outside of the building at this entrance that would indicate there's a theater just inside! Strange. Man, what a letdown. We had been to other Dipsons in the area (Blasdell cheapie theater and the Lancaster Flix) and those are GREAT. This place? Not so much. Ticket counter is combined with the concessions desk and staffed by immature young men who were goofing around and not acting professional in the least. Worst, though? Our movie was ruined by the lack of attention by the staff by monitoring doors / sound levels / etc? We watched a VERY quiet movie and the rear door of the theater was left propped open (never shut by the staff after the movie started), leaving a bright light streaming into the theater. Even worse, the movie playing *right* across the hall had ridiculously loud sound playing that was disrupting the (very quiet) movie we were trying to watch. Eventually, after waiting to see if staff would take care of it, I had to get up during my show and close not just my theater door, but the door to the theater across the hall in order to block some of the ridiculous loud noise that was seeping into our theater. The doors are NOT thick enough to block the noise adequately, especially if you're watching a quiet movie, not some thundering cinematic blockbuster. The theater seats are updated and are slightly plush and rock, but they're not the comfy recliners we're used to at the (much cheaper) Blasdell dipson. I used the women's restroom located near the (abandoned?) concession counter at the end of the hallway, which was disastrously outdated and in ill repair with chipping and scratched paint all over the door and a dripping faucet. Oh, and a SINGLE stall. Maybe I didn't find the "regular" restroom? But a single stall for three entire movie theaters? yikes. Don't let this review deter you from the Dipson chain as a WHOLE - the other ones in WNY are kept to much higher standards than this one. Just avoid the Eastern Hills Mall location until they get their act together. What a disappointment. I expect better from Dipson. Whoever owns this location is giving their fellow theater owners a bad name. (oh, and about that "real butter"? It's the same oily stuff that comes out of the dispensers just like every other theater in the area. Am I missing something?) read more

This place is a bit old and dirty but shows movies you can't see anywhere else. Seats are old style (no recliner). Price is right.

They have new, super comfy seating! Amazing popcorn with real butter! Great Indy films you won't find at Regal. And a better audience (read: no obnoxious teens or kids). $7.50 for a matinee ticket is a great deal! One of my favorite theaters in WNY! read more

Sick of annoying people at the movies and spending a gazillion dollars for a crappy movie? Then head out to the Dipson. Mature audiences that are mostly old people and if you go at an unpopular time, very few people at all. Tickets are a bit cheaper than other chains and they only show independent or indie movies. This is really sad because some of the movies shouldn't be considered "alternative" faire. Their gain and everyone else's loss. I love that this theater is locally owned and operated. No big frills i.e. comfy seats but no recliners, no slushy machine. Exactly what I like. Simplicity at its finest. Only pet peeve today was I brought a deaf friend and the closed caption had to be brought to us in the theater because it needed new batteries and wasn't ready. We got it before the film started, but it still made me anxious. Still, great experience. The other locations in WNY are also great. read more

This is the place to go if you like INTELLIGENT movies that often NEVER hit the major theaters. On Tuesdays, half-price refreshments are a perk. Ok, so the seats don't recline, but, as I remember, they certainly are not ancient. A perk for cat lovers (and I believe there are many of us) is a cat adoption center across the hall from the theater entrance. Watching or visiting the little beauties is a great way to kill time if you're early for the movie. read more

We love going to the movies, watching movies at home and on our devices. But, this theatre really outshines the others. Personal customer service, good seating and great snacks too. Love the non mainstream flare in movie choices. So enjoy the deep, educated and artsy films that fill the soul. Priced fairly too. read more
