I paid my $550 per month bill on time every month and fulfilled the 3 years of the contract and looked forward to retiring. So, I called Cox to tell them I wanted to cancel my service. They came back and said that I was "automatically" renenwed at the end of the original 3-year contract and that I had to pay for the entire new year before I could get out - almost $6,000! I told them this has to be illegal since they never notiied me in writing of this automatic renewal clause. But they said in the State of Calfiornia it's legal and there's nothing they can (or would) do about it. End of discussion. This kind of practice has to be illegal! There should have been a "thank you" from them for being a good customer for nearly 40 years, but instead, those Coxsuckers are living up to their nickname - COXSUCKERS! Don't get involved with this lying sack of shit company and get out while you still can!

Our phone system was down for almost 2 weeks because of an error that they made. Then there was a reconnection charge on the bill and it took a while for them to credit my account properly. The people on the phone seem to want to help but they just can't seem to get the things done that the customers need. We experienced problems with phone line connections, charges for services we didn't ask for, and just couldn't get them to do anything right. If you want to spend all of your time on the phone with Cox rather than focusing on your business, give Cox a try. I would not recommend them for business phone line ---- too many headaches.

    I kept receiving postcards & letters from Cox for $30 per line for 300 MBPS a month service. Last…read moreweekend I brought the postcard to the Laguna Niguel store and I had to wait 25 minutes before someone helped me and then the guy told me..."oh you're not eligible for this offer." When I pushed back and asked him why he said "I don't know but it doesn't show up in the system for you." This week Cox sent me another letter with the same offer - $30 a mo for the next 24 months. LUCKILY - this time I went to the Cox Lake Forest office and was helped by Nick K. When he went into my account he found that the person that had signed us up initially had us on a "roommate account" because the previous owner hadn't shut off her service by the time we moved it. He went in and fixed out account, was SUPER kind and very patient. This was the first time in a long time that visiting a Cox store was a very pleasant experience. This is the new store that I will go to from now on!!! Make sure to seek out Nick K.

A few months ago our Internet speed went down from 100Mbps to 3Mbps. Yes, three. It took them about 3 weeks to get it fixed. In the process I have been in contact with mediocre customer service reps that are trained to copy/paste boiler plate responses. It doesn't matter whether they've given you an answer or ETA. They'd always ask, "Is there anything else that I can help you with?" so they can end it asap. This time around I had to move my service to a different address. The first rep that I talked to set up the install schedule. A day later I still didn't get any sort of confirmation. I contacted them again. Turns out that the schedule wasn't made at all. So I had to make another request. The rep that I chatted with this time was extremely slow and couldn't get a grip of the issue and task to be done. In the end, the install was scheduled. But wait... I ain't falling for this again. I immediately contacted them again to see if there was an install scheduled. Yes, there was, except that it was scheduled to be done at my OLD ADDRESS!! How can they mix this up?? Come on.. transfer of service to a new address that you were aware that was not in your system yet. Need any more clues on where to send the technician to? So, it took me the third time to get this simple job done.
