I kept receiving postcards & letters from Cox for $30 per line for 300 MBPS a month service. Last weekend I brought the postcard to the Laguna Niguel store and I had to wait 25 minutes before someone helped me and then the guy told me..."oh you're not eligible for this offer." When I pushed back and asked him why he said "I don't know but it doesn't show up in the system for you." This week Cox sent me another letter with the same offer - $30 a mo for the next 24 months. LUCKILY - this time I went to the Cox Lake Forest office and was helped by Nick K. When he went into my account he found that the person that had signed us up initially had us on a "roommate account" because the previous owner hadn't shut off her service by the time we moved it. He went in and fixed out account, was SUPER kind and very patient. This was the first time in a long time that visiting a Cox store was a very pleasant experience. I went in to pay my bill and got some woman who didn't know what she was doing. She spent a lot of time with the manager (I guess) who told me I couldn't pay in store until the first of the month. I've been paying for months in store and told them that their procedures were all new to me. I couldn't understand why I couldn't pay my freaking bill. I did not even take anything out of this box and decided to return it. This neighborhood Cox store is great!! Some people just seem to have a lot of grievances. Our cable Internet supports a houseful of students as well as us working from home. There's rarely any issue. --We recently got new iPhone 16 Pros here with their discounted cellular service. We had to wait a bit as we ordered right at launch and got a great promo. The cell service is about 35% cheaper than AT&T and equally strong signal! Also no extra charges for using the phone as a hotspot or extra data. I went in here because I complained to the FTC about them cutting off my cable which comes with my apartment! They had no business cutting it off, so I filed an FTC complaint! ***This rating is for Cox corporate customer service, not the store. CANCEL COX!!! I was a Cox internet/cable customer for more than 8 years. Their rates have increased steadily over the years. Recently I was informed that my rate will be increasing substantially (apparently no more promotions for loyal customers), that they would no longer be providing the free perk of McAfee Antivirus AND they arbitrarily charged me $69 for a channel I didn't request/approve. They refused to issue a credit. So today, I informed them to cancel my service. Their representative kept me "hostage" on the phone for over 20 minutes asking me the same questions over & over again to which I replied "cancel my service". I was told to leave the Cox modem for the next resident and that I would be financially responsible for it if that unknown person didn't use Cox or return the modem to Cox. When he finally cancelled my account I spent another 15 minutes trying to reach corporate customer service to insure I would not be responsible for their modem if I returned it. After speaking to her I attempted to pay my balance of $13.71, however the "geniuses" at Cox had already disabled my online account! 15+ minutes trying to reach Cox again. I explained that I was unable to pay my balance and was unnecessarily harassed/tortured when I wanted to cancel. I requested they waive the remaining $13.71 charge. They refused. OUTRAGEOUS!!! Cox internet is horrible. I payed 140$ a month for top tier internet and it was terrible. Switched to AT&T air no issues less speed but only cost 60$ for almost 300 download speed. My panoramic WiFi for cox didn't work well at my house for the last 6 months. Multiple techs out to my house swapping used modems was a terrible experience. Best part when the WiFi didn't work they said to buy a fire stick for my tv . I ended up running a cat8 cable 100' so it could be hardwired. Cox is overpriced and has terrible customer service. I wish I could give them 0 stars, but it can't go any lower than 1 star. You can't trust the salesman there. They make you buy a bundle to get a better deal, which was a lie. They would make things up for you to spend more, and they won't mention a monthly payment. They have charged us so much in the past and lowered our internet speed without us knowing. I went into the store and asked them about it. They figured out the problem and gave me a free new modem and fixed my internet speed and apologized, but I am not sure if that makes up all of the times they have charged us for fast internet when it wasn't. If you buy from these guys, double-check your account. If something seems off, then make sure you contact customer service, and they can help fix the problem. Cox has been out internet, TV, and movie provider for thirty years here in Lake Forest. Sadly I have watched this company over the years nose dive into the worst run company here in OC. I stopped all TV service about two years ago because Cox could not offer reliable tv service. I suspect Cox has not reasonably updated the equipment necessary to offer consistent service to customers. I contacted Lake Forest City Hall last year. But the City refused to investigate Cox because they don't see it's their job. Now, I am looking for an Internet Provider to replace Cox poorly performing services. The constant off line, blackouts, and lack of service for hours every day is starting to hurt my business. Seems Cox service is getting worse with the passing of each day. I got there just after 10 a.m. on Saturday and Antonio had me in and out in no time. Got home installed new tv tuner and it works perfectly. Details: I had tried to resolve over the phone a couple of times and invested a couple of hours with no resolution. Not sure why. I had done the troubleshooting already and solution was an easy fix and they didn't need to send a technician. No fix, just time invested. Decided to wait for when I had a free Saturday morning. TV, Internet and phone was all included in the package. Hector the Cox specialist showed me the options and prices they had. So he gave me an offer I couldn't refuse! So I took it! Very very poor customer service I had internet with them and after a year Cox increase my rate from $69.99 to $.99.99. I asked them if they can extend the promotion for another year and the store Manager Nelson told me hard no , there is no option, even if you go online as a new customer it shows available. I didn't even know internet could be this bad and unreliable in this day and age in a big metropolitan area! I am currently not only working from home but also attending a distance program for grad school and need reliable internet. We have signed up for their best and fastest package and I'm not kidding, we lose our internet multiple times per week. It is incredibly frustrating. I have to rely on my phone's hotspot so frequently that even though we have the "unlimited" hotspot package, it slows down after using a high amount of it due to Cox's failures. honestly speaking, this particular store's service is not bad, I'm posting about the general Cox communication Inc., but since there's no page for that, i'm posting here (the closest store to my residence) I live in Lake Forest Area (calling center goes to Cox 949-240-1212) On 06/26/2019, I called to try to lower our CableTV+ Internet Monthly Fee (was $204.12). I spoke w/ a rep named Tracy(or Tracie), after at least 40 min of waiting & bargaining (this of course IS a normal routine once the promotion expired, so no complaint there), she said the lowest she could offer is $159/mo (contract for 1 yr & without lowering our internet to a slower tier), she said I could take some time to think as the offer is good until 7/8, because our DVR box rental is expiring and they would not be able to renew that discount after 7/8. So I confirmed that if i call back by 7/8, I do NOT have to go through this gruesome bargaining process again and she firmly confirmed. When I called back on 7/8, the rep (Josie)said the deal is now $166/mo & she didn't see the $159 in our working folder. I tried to explain and this went back & forth for some time so I requested to speak to a supervisor/manager, and she said the wait time will be 30-40 min. I waited for about 20+ min, finally spoke with a Supervisor named Crystal (Employee ID: B41000), Crystal said the lowest price is now $174/mo. I asked her to honor the $159 that was promised to me but she refused. She said because my DVR box rental discount is expiring the next day, and she could not renew that (this was contrary to the 6/26 conversation so I told her about the agreement on 6/26 and asked her to go back & check the recording and she said, "No, you were mis-quoted"). I asked to file a complaint, she said there was no one else there. Her attitude was rude and impatient throughout. so of course i terminated the cable TV service, my wife actually still wanted to give them a chance, to see if we can get anything cheap after the termination, but we were given more deceiving information and run-around - and price still high. the funny thing is, when we went to return the DVR cable box, now at the store, we were suddenly "qualified" for a $139/mo promo rate - which we were denied clearly even after we terminated the service! just more dishonesty and murky quotes... I don't mind the bargaining and wasting time after all these years being a loyal customer (it's sad because i really should), but what bothered me the most was their dishonesty! My story: Cox mistakenly gave me wrong device, so I chatted with online customer representative and they let us go to a store to replace current device. Even though the store manager checked all the notes, conversation and evidence, they took no action, just saying "Oh we can't help", "No, it is not my fault". They let us go back and call again instead of solving issue. Guess what happened? After hearing all the story, the customer represantitive let us try to talk another Cox store!! We started having issues turning on and off our television and DVR the other day and after replacing the batteries in the remote and checking the cable box, we came to the conclusion the remote was not functioning correctly. After trying some manual adjustments, I inspected the cable discovered it had become part of the collateral damage from Watson (he had chewed through part of the cable). I took the cable to this location and within two minutes I was heading home with a serviceable cable and again no questions asked. About six years ago, I experienced a case of temporary insanity and decided to go with a dish company that will remain nameless. Everything went smoothly for the first few months after signing a two year contract and then one day, half our channels were unavailable. I immediately realized the cause: it was spring and all the trees that were bare when the dish was installed were now covered in leaves and blocking the signal. It was a bit of a hassle getting the dish company to come get their equipment and they wanted to charge me a year's worth of service to cancel the contract. The end of the conversation: Me: "Can you provide the services we requested in the contract?" Rep: "Apparently we cannot." Me: "Then your company is violation of the contract agreement and therefore I am obligated to pay you nothing. Come get your f***ing dish!" *Click* Rohlinism: Pretty soon you are going to have to sign a contract to get service at a restaurant! Cox is on a month to month which means I can leave / sign up anytime I want and the internet speed was faster than the one offered by the dish company. Coming back to Cox after the dish debacle enable us to get a discounted rate for several months which is always appreciated. The few times I have had issues with Cox, the customer service people have been helpful and efficient in addressing my issues. You could say "we tried the rest and came back to the best!" AT&T has been trying to get me to sign a contract (ugh!) for U-verse since it was even available in my area, they have offered discounts and gift cards to switch over and I have never switched and never will. Cox service sucks. Our cable has been freezing, won't change channels, recordings partially recorded, just generally not working. Had a tech come out, but Cox won't allow them to enter your house because of the rona. Did basically nothing. So I go to the Cox store in Lake Forest (because that is one of the few stores with an actual manager), to discuss getting my service to work properly or get a credit for the horrible service. Basically blew me off. Salesman said the manager Edgar Aguirre was in a meeting and would call me within an hour. Never called, so I went back 3-1/2 hours later. Assistant manager told me he was still in a meeting. So basically, eff you. Cox isn't renowned for it's sterling service, but it's sinking lower and lower. The staff Freddy was nice but Cox billed me for items returned and the onus was on me to provide the receipt number which luckily I took- Anyone with cox please do yourself a favor and keep the receipt- I misplaced it and I went back to ask for a copy and they couldn't provide one to me- so I had to file a discrepancy for my bill since I returned everything and then they told me I would have a response within 72 hours so I didn't receive a response so I called back and filed another dispute and still didn't hear back with 72 hours so I called back and the representative told me I need the receipt number even though she could see the returns on my account- then she finally looked at the note that the rep last week left and she said Oh they modem you are using so it doesn't need to be returned - which is what I said in the beginning- the first thing I asked was to talk to a supervisor and I kept asking to talk to is supervisor and she told me the only thing the supervisor could do was to file a dispute and I asked for a grievance procedure or a complaint form and she said all I could do was go on cox.com so I figured yelp was just as good- when I want back to the store Freddy told me he couldn't provide the receipt number just the serial numbers and that there was nothing he could do and suggested I just wait it out.
