When I called direct tv concerning the matter they told me he was not suppose to charge me for the 50 and would be refunded. Long story short I cancelled the service 1 day later because I never got a call for someone to finish the job and was told my 50.00 would be returned to me in 1 month (ridiculous). Please do not fall for the $100 gift card offer. My 69 yo mother switched to direct tv bc she thought she was going to save money and receive a $100.00 visa google ft card. The bill was higher than explained and she NEVER received her gift card. I have had Directv for 7 years and I have not had service in over 2 months. I have had 5 appointments scheduled for them to come get me back up and running. Two of the appointments were a "no show" without even a phone call telling me that they were not going to make it. One of the appointments, the technician became petrified on the ladder and his supervisor had to talk him down. The supervisor was not allowed to lend a hand since the technician is a union employee and so they left with our dish lying in the grass. Because we have been without service for this amount of time, I keep trying to cancel. I was told that since I was in a contract, it would cost me to cancel. I was told that they could not waive this charge. My complaint is that we haven't even been able to watch cable, why would I have to pay to cancel, so I asked for a supervisor. While waiting on hold for a supervisor, the line went dead and no one has called me back. It is impossible to cancel and even more impossible to get service. On June 21, 2014 I called Direct TV because my contract was about to expire. Alex qouted me $66 per month 1st year, $71 the 2nd year but no contract required. I agreed at those prices to stay wiht them. On July 8 I called and spoke to Leah in customer service because my bill was $86 and had been automatically charged to my credit card. She couldnt see where I had been quoted that price and she transferred me to Ashley in the promo dept. She did see the notes where I had been quoted that and said the follwing month there would be a credit so my bill would only be $46. Then the next month it would be the $66 I was orginally quoted. On August 9 I called because, again, my credit card was billed the incorrect amount of $86. I first spoke to Jackie who said she couldnt fix it and she was going to transfer me to a manager at my request. I held for 20 minutes and Sandra, who was not even a manager, said she couldnt fix it either. She transferred me to Heather in the retention dept. She was rude and said she didnt know why I was repeatedly told $66/month and she refused to honor that price or to credit me the amount I was already owed. I spent an hour and a half on the phone total. She said if I cancelled they would charge me $440 for breaking the contract, even though they were not legally holding up their end of the agreed upon price. She refused to remove my credit card from the account even though I repeatedly asked her to. she also refused to credit me the credits I had already been promised by Ashley. I cancelled ther service, but my credit card company also refused to let me block Direct Tv from further charges and said I couldnt dipsute anyhting because Direct TV never put any ofd their quotes or pricing promises to me in writig. This is beyond wrong, should be illegal, and unfair. I want the money Direct TV owes me and prmised me $40 placed back on my credit card & I want to be let ou of the contract at no charge since they are lying to me and stealing money from my credit card. Terrible company to work with. We already have a dish on our roof from previous tenants and the first time the installer came out, he said he wasn't certified to access the roof. Odd, since I imagine this is where a lot of dishes get installed. He advised me DirecTV would send someone else out with roof access. Soonest next installation was two weeks later (they were unable to expedite anything). He left a note in our file stating our dish is a multi-unit receiver (it's not, and he never looked at it). So a second installer comes two weeks later and says OSHA does not allow them to access roofs at all and whoever told me they might be able to "was lying". Every other dish in my community is mounted on a roof so this doesn't make sense. So she left, noting in our file that we did not h e a direct line of site to the southern sky (mind you, we already have the dish on our roof and it has perfect line of sight) and the soonest third installation appointment was a week and a half later. I called DirecTV in the meantime to at least ask if I could avoid the two year contract since clearly these people don't know what they're doing and I didn't want to get stuck with two years of bad service and the service rep said he would be happy to cancel my service but couldn't modify the bill. Never heard of a customer service rep helping you cancel service before trying to fix your problem. Then he tried to cancel my service at my request but realized he couldn't because somehow I had ordered it through AT&T even though I wasn't bundling services, so I would have to call someone else. He was laughing on the phone about how ridiculous this was. Anyway, the third tech came out today. This tech was quite nice and knowledgeable but said I had ordered four wired boxes when I had actually ordered wireless Genie boxes with one wired receiver. He was unable to reach his supervisor initially and then informed me it would be an additional $99 to set up a wireless video bridge, despite all advertisements saying installation was free. I called DirecTV myself and spoke with a supervisor named Eddie and expressed my frustration at having wasted 3 half days waiting for installation and now being hit with a $99 hidden fee. He advised me it was a setup fee and that installation was still free (really!?!!) and that he could not adjust my bill in any way. Overall, very poor communication among different parts of the company, abysmal customer service, and higher prices than competitors. I would not recommend DirecTV to anyone. Even Comcast is better. read more

If anyone is thinking to change your TV/Internet/ phone to AT&T, please reconsider, they are a rip off and they won't give you what they promised with the new promotion. I was promised 3 items: 2 devices and one gift card. After the technician installed everything in the house I called AT&T and they said they never had a promotion like that and this is after verifying and confirming TWICE before the technician came and installed the software. On top of that, 30 minutes after they installed it, everything in my house stopped working saying "no signal". Finally after two hours on the phone with AT&T, it came to the point where I had to cancel the AT&T service. Additionally, they had the audacity to tell me that I had to uninstall all the equipment myself including the satellite dish on the roof of my house AND return it to them because they will not come and pick it up themselves. This is my second day without Internet and phone service and my children are struggling because they have homework that is online and couldn't be done because of what these people did. Now, Comcast is trying to fix the problem that they created. Come to find out that my coworkers had similar issues with AT&T. I am so frustrated, angry, and upset about the fact that they LIED and MANIPULATED me in order to get me to sign up for their promotion. So if any of you are considering to switch or sign up with AT&T you might want to reconsider that decision. read more

If I could give DirectPath a zero rating I would. What a bunch of scam artists! I returned my equipment when I relocated for work. 3 months later I receive a letter from a credit agency saying I never sent the equipmet back and would be charged. I called Directpath and they said to check the tracking number on the label to find out where the package went I asked them to resend the email with the label and was told they didn't have it. I went back to the store where I shipped the package from and the owner told me to ask if it was a smart label a label that cannot be tracked, that was used. I called customer service again and was told they had the email but weren't allowed to send it my call was escalated to someone else who said they didn't have the original email. Someone needsto get their lies straight before they can talk to customers! I asked if a smart label was sent to me the man said they did not use smart labels. I again went back to the store where I shipped it for one last bit of help. They even have me on video walking in with the box and the label. I called customer service again and once again my call was escalated. I told him about the video and could they talk to the store owner about the label. He then proceeded to tell me that they use smart labels and I should have paid extra to have it tracked. This is the same man who days earlier told me they never use smart labels. So I guess anyone who ever mail back equipment can be charged with this despicable scam. What a piece of crap company to allow this to happen! read more

My complaint of Direct TV is to no specific office location, it's to the company in general and their outsourcing jobs to people not in this country. After a upgrade appointment in my home where the service was very good the calls began, and nearly a week later after repeated requests that they stop, the calls continue. People with very thick indian accents called to inquire of my experience. After several attempts to explain an issue to them fell on non-comprehensive ears I told them I would call DirectTV myself and make my request for return equiptment packaging. They continue to call every day. I tell them every day do not call again and they yet again call me the following day. If you are going to go outside of this country to hire people cheaper to phone solicit, at least pick from a pool that can speak and comprehend english as that is what we speak here in the United States. Since I have had Direct Tv / At&T, it has been a pain. Every Month I have to call and Discuss with someone why my bill is not the price it suppose to be. Just recently i made a payment arrangment, i was told by a representative that the arrangement was good until a specific date, but i woke up to my tv/cable being disconnected. I called and spoke to two representatives, a manager and someone in the "payment department", they all gave me the run around and acted as if i had made the story up about being told i could make an arrangement, because the representative i spoke with didnt leave notes in the computer about the conversation. They were not undersatnding, no one said let me see what i can do because of OUR representative misinforming you or anything, they just kept telling me that i needed to pay the balance or my service will stay disconnected. I have never been so angry. These people at Direct Tv /At&T made me feel like they didnt care and it was my fault that i was told something wrong, and that all they cared about was getting there money.This company think that they can just take your hard earned money and have absolutely horrible customer service, and that is just not right. read more

Direct TV. I had Direct TV for over ten (10) years in my home. I always received prompt attention if I had a problem or service interruption. At the beginning of July, I called to inform them I was moving and wanted to cancel my service. I did this also for my phone service and electric. They seemed to understand my request and took care of my account without further contact. My move was a very quick cross country move which was not without incident ( my car caught on fire). That was more pleasant than dealing with Direct TV about my cancellation. When I got to my new destination, I called them to see if I could get service in my new area. I could not get internet service so informed them I did not want them to come out about the T V service. Little did I know that they only did not cancel my service, they also charged me until I called them again to cancel the service call and received a bill for August service. My phone call to them was met with "did I not know how many services they offered". After a few minutes of this, was finally transferred to billing and was told I did not call back in two week after my initial call to "confirm" my cancellation. BEWARE, obviously their employees have to be asked more than once to honor your request. Unfortunately, I am now dealing with my bank to get this matter settled read more
