If I could give less than 1 star I would. I have been without regular service since December and have had to stream Direct TV. The 3rd party Direct TV uses won't come out to trouble shoot as they keep saying it's an electrical issue within my apartment. What in the entire world??!! If I'm not having any other electrical issues, what does that have to do with the connection error I'm having? If it weren't for my disabled husband wanting to use this company, I would have cancelled them months ago. Been with them 2 years. In that time our rates have gone from 69 dollar to 140. With absolutely no exaggeration we have 350 crap channels. Movies are always the same. At least 90% of the channels are selling stuff. Th decent channels aren't included in the price. We're in the country and STUCK with Direct tv. Don't use them. Best thing we ever did was cut the chord. Even with two active accounts you will never get a discount. Last straw for me was having new customers pay, over their two year contract, less than half of what this 16 year customer did, on time. Much better Tv on Netflix, hulu, and Amazon. So I get talked into switching from U-verse to direct TV. This was possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever had. First the installation of services took 4 appointments before it was actually installed. They installed the dish at night so I couldn't see where it was installed. Silly me I expected it to be where I showed them I wanted it. Of course it wasn't so I called to get a tech out to move it and after 3 technicians cancelled appts me I finally gave up and cancelled. To go with bad customer service the new wireless boxes would constantly say "connecting" and reset while you're watching a recorded show. During an hour show this would happen between 3-5 times. I asked to AGAIN speak with a supervisor. After waiting for 1 hour 27 minutes (stupid me) with her coming back on the line every so often to assure me that the supervisor was coming, she disconnected the call. I guess that was her way of letting me know that a supervisor wouldn't be coming after all. Right back at you AT&T/DirectTV. Directv is not about honoring their contracts with you but expect you to honor the contract with them. I signed up a year ago for Directv with their premium package. Was given NFL Sunday ticket for free for 1 year with the understanding that i have to call to cancel the next year. In the premium package you receive every standard channel and a lot more of probably things you will never watch. The season ended and i called in February to have the Sunday ticket removed. I was assured it was removed. Come May i think i better check to make sure it was removed. Call in and its still on my account. Again, I was assured it was removed by customer service. I received a letter in the mail from Directv in July stating that i will have to pay for the new season on Sunday Ticket. On top of that i have not been receiving NBC for over 3 weeks because they can not come to terms with the owner of nbc, all while still charging me for NBC and missing a lot of the shows that my wife and i like to watch. I call into retention to complain and they say there is nothing they can do and if i cancel i have to pay a $140 termination fee. I got the supervisor to admit i am not getting what i am paying for and that they are not honoring the contract but i still have to pay the termination fee according to the contract. I was a DirecTV customer for over 10 years. I recently sold my house. I called DTV and told them when I was going to be out of the house and asked that my service be disconnected on that day (4/3/2018). About a week after that date I get a call from DTV telling me that the folks who bought my house were trying to establish service at my old address and could not because my service was still connected. I asked them for the second time to disconnect my service. 2 weeks later I get a bill for service received with a start data a week after I left the house. Let's be clear. I no longer lived there and on top of that had returned the equipment via their UPS mailing service. I called in to DTV repeatedly and still can't believe the level of rudeness and incompetence I encountered. It was implied that the confusion was MY fault because they did not forward me to another dept when I requested to be disconnected . They said my bill would be prorated. When I was not even living in the house for that period of time. Their totally misnamed ;customer service personnel seemed to take a delight in constantly putting me on hold and wanting to know the address I had returned to equipment to, etc. I was stunned. I'm not donewith this. Going to contact the BBB and every umer protection agency I can find. Its bad enough they are incredibly overpriced, I cut my bill in half with better offerings when I stitched to Spectrum after the move. The bizarre, antagonistic nature of their 'customer service' is more than enough reason to avoid at all costs. Total rip-off. read more

My cable was installed by wrapping a cord around my patio door and the door being jammed back into place. The actual satellite was not installed on a post on the roof or somewhere safe. It was left on a grid in my front lawn. When I called to complain they assured me that someone would be there in 24 hrs to fix it. They did not show up. I called to tell them that I no longer wanted to be their customer. They refused to pick up the hunks of metal out of my yard. They charged me $240.00 for the satellite and I had to get rid of the sattleight and the metal grid myself. I have photos! read more

Ehh, ok I'll start right off by saying this company has ripped my face off and lied repetitively about their services and costs. The first guy I spoke to lied about the quote and 'transferred me to AT&t' (who was really just another directv moron and they had 2 different quotes of what we would be paying. I said (since AT&t had too many hidden fee's) that I didn't want to sign up for them, opting with Time warner for internet (God help me) and Skype for my home phone. 4 days later a package from AT&t arrives for my internet and phone....that I NEVER ordered!! When I called back they told me it happens a lot and to just send it back! WTF!?! I'm not paying for you mistakes! Anyway, day 2 I called DirecTV back since I never got my email confirmation. They told me I wasn't a costumer. Apparently moron #1 didn't put in my order correctly so someone in HR deleted it and figured they wouldn't call me to let me know. Lucky for them I called since my husband had to take off for work so someone would be here when they showed up...except now no one was coming anymore and they didn't care to tell us that. So the 2nd person I talked to explained all this. She sounded very knowledgeable about everything and right before my order went through f-ing time warner (my old provider) dropped the call; this is why I went with Skype! (side note- $60 for a Skype phone number and $2.99 every 3 months for phone service. you need internet to make calls on your computer. Easy & no more phone company!) So this second person, who took down our contact number to call us back in case the call dropped didn't call us back, but had told us she would finish the order in case it dropped since we were so close to finishing. To be safe, we called back AGAIN to make sure (this is 2 days now if you're counting, and 3 hours each call) and this non-English speaking woman told us not to worry and that everything was done correctly and gave us our day and time that they would be there for install. Fine. I hang up. She was rude and I was done. Next day, still no confirmation email. I call again (4 times now) and ask to speak to a manager. He told me I had no account but somehow I had a install set for a few days from then. Meanwhile info I was told, I'm now being told, was incorrect. I was told that I didn't have to pay for the Genie, but this guy says I do, that's it's just discounted to $99. Fine. I pay for the Genie so the hubby can have his soccer games. The manager sets up yet another install and the hubby grumbles something at him about wanting a discount for all this ''bull-sh*t"...no can do. Apparently DirecTV doesn't give a rats behind about their new costumers. I don't know how this company has the #1 customer service out there...then again, I've also had Time Warner, Verizon, & Comcast...and the only one who hasn't stolen from me (so far) was Comcast. Either way I'm fed up. Since we have Skype and it's a speaker phone type thing, I say (to my hubby) that he should hang up since these stupid people obviously don't want our money and that we're wasting time. The guy quickly gives us a promotion extension on our free HBO for 3 months..now 11 months total . Fine. "over $100 value..." I give my credit card info the stupid Genie and the hubs is happy again, still red from screaming. We finish our order and hang up. We call right back to check ...as is custom with this company now since everyone here lies. The person we get tells us that our Genie was finally ordered (we tried getting this 4 times but since every one else said it was free since my credit is high it was never actually ordered for us) but that they don't see this 11 month HBO. Instead this manager had put a note on our account that if we still wanted the extension then we could call back and he would give us Showtime ...until we don't want showtime...then he would work out the details then. Bastard/. I never thought I'd hate any company MORE then I hate Time Warner; for comparison sake..they actually stole money from my account. DirecTV can suck my non-existent balls for all I care. I'll freakin grow a pair just for the occasion. SO install gets to my new place and install it. Although they were an 1.5 hrs late. The girl who showed up explained their last job was an hour away and her partner got stuck in traffic...and then got pulled over for speeding. So 30 mins later he shows up but forgot his install thingy that somehow gets the satellite to link up the bigger dish in the sky so he has to do it by hand. Meanwhile this girl is his trainee so he lets her try (for 45 mins) first. They took a long...long time. I missed the OSU game. Not a happy camper. The girl was rude too. She kept swinging her little ratchet wrench around and around and around, like she was whipping a cord around and around...but ratchet makes a very annoying clicking sound, not to mention she was doing this right in front of our big screen. I ordered directv on Monday. They had confirmed via phone and email that same Monday a rep. from Directv would be out on Thursday the same week from 8-12. 0ursday rolls around, it is 1 pm, noone shows up. I call directv at 12:30, my account has been put on hold for a "verification". I do not know what this means, they have already debited my account for the 20 bucks install fee or whatever that fee was. When I called, they advised me of this "hold"; after calling the next number that could "help me resolve this issue", I was asked to call another number, not going to do it! 4 hours of my life gone that i cannot get back because directv did not inform me they were not coming out. Of course, they have not credited my 20 bucks back! So glad I did not get into at 2 year contract with these folks! I guess if the price is too good to be true, it probably is! read more

Be very careful of this company. I signed up for AT&T and was switched to Direct tv stream. The lady who talked to me in the phone in October of 2020 was enthusiastic and shared the 2 year contract was great as they will work with you on pricing for the second year. She neglected to say they will double your charges for the month in between the 2 yrs, yes DOUBLE! The first person who answered only talked over you and didn't listen so of course I said transfer me to someone who is going to listen to me rather than be rude, I also reminded her they say they record these calls. The second person listened so well she never responded so I had to hang up and call back. Yeah the next gentleman was extremely nice and helpful but I still have to pay a whole month of DOUBLE charges, UGH!! I'm single and do not get any help not even the extra payments everyone else received as I technically make too much money. What they don't realize is I help an elderly parent. Probably the worst customer communication I've ever seen first off the first go around of trying to install had to be rescheduled because the techs were 2 hours late so today on the second try I'm informed I have to pay the tech 125 bucks to install a pole and cable line which was never discussed with me in any of the prior communications then your tech argues with me about it and when I call they tell me pay the tech and you'll credit me pending the amount the tech charged wtf is that I'm not handing my credit card to some random person needless to say we of course canceled and will never think about trying to have direct tv again. read more

Rip off! I would never recommend DirecTv to anyone. I had them for about a year and had nothing but issues and was way over charged. When I signed up our home was for sale, I mentioned that to the rep and was told that we would get 1 free move per year. However, what was not mentioned was that we had to be customers for at least 1 year to get that "free move." When I called to schedule my equipment to be moved, I was then told that it would be $199! That was not an expense I was expecting with all of the other moving-type expenses. Once we were in our home and our satelite was hooked up, it went off everytime it rained. I called and was told that I would be charged to send someone out. Then I asked about having an additional receiver hooked up to our tv downstairs. I was told that it would be another $200 and that it would restart my contract for an additional 2 years. I finally got fed up and canceled my service to a tune of $500+. I was still receiving bills after my service was canceled and I paid them there money, which they weren't willing to break up into payments for me. I received bills for movies that we had rented the year prior. When I questioned this, I was told sometimes you don't get billed for movies until you return the receiver!??? Oddly enough, all of my bills that were displayed online were available up until this point. Bottom line is that I would never recommend DirecTv to anyone, not even an enemy. The ads that they offer are too good to be true, as there are always additional undisclosed fees that they charge you and after you pay all of this money for equipment, it's still not yours' they request it back at the end of your contract or they charge you another insane fee. I wish I would have never signed up with them and did better research prior to signing a 2yr agreement. At least I am one that learns from my mistakes. read more

I switched to Direct tv for the nfl package. Now you are in a dispute with the local cbs channel and I have lost my one of my major local channels. Guess what channel my football game was on----- the local one I no longer have. You would think that since Directtv does not supply me with that channel, I would get it on the nfl ticket, but no. I have never in my 67 years had a product that preforms worse. The humans I've dealt with can look you straight in the eye and lie through their teeth. They have lied about the cost of virtually every aspect of the service from the installation charges and necessary hardware. They drastically over stated it's performance during weather events and the the reasons for the endless disruptions in service. I don't understand how they can continue to do business. DirectTV has no good way of tracking the return of equipment. They claimed I did not return some boxes and then charged me $96. I called repeatedly explaining the equipment had been returned and had the UPS receipts and they said they couldn't tell anything by the receipts. They proceeded to turn me into collections. Do not use DirectTV. They have terrible customer service. Not only did this happen but they try to sign you up for trial offers and then when you want to cancel it you can't get it stopped. Direct tv is absolutely awful. The worst customer service experience ever. It is true what they say about them raising your rates after the first year and it's a two year contract however I was well aware of that. If you bundle with AT&T it's a fixed rate throughout the contract. The day they came to install AT&T didn't show Up and I had to wait another week for them to come. When they finally did, they said I was out of range and the Internet would be pretty much unusable and the tech said he wouldn't feel good about doing an install when I wouldn't even be able to stream anything. This was after a week of waiting for Internet because they didn't show up the first time! So I call direct tv and they say since the tv services were already installed I couldn't get out of the contract but I wouldn't be getting any of the perks of the bundle pricing and yes I would be stuck with that higher rate after a year. If I wanted to cancel it would cost me over 500 dollars to finish out the contract. It was insane and completely unethical what they were doing. I was on the phone for 3 HOURS arguing with them about it because every problem I had was completely their fault. They just kept transferring me around to different departments and saying a supervisor would be in contact with me. Never ever will I go with them after this experience and finding out exactly what kind of company they are. Total nightmare read more

I signed up under the business class, they told me all the things I wanted to hear. I was told My phone service would start on Monday, I needed to be here to insure delivery of services and for hookup. I waited from 9 to 5, NO SHOW , NO CALL. I CANCELLED the service and went with another provider. I will never do business with them, my time is much to important. When I called to find out what was going on, they shuffled me to several different people, that took another 45 minutes. Then i received my bill, I was with them for 4 days I believe, was charged 15.50 (no wi-fi or phone) for the TV service and of course an additional fee for cancelling the services................ read more

The worst customer service ever. I called to change my credit card info BIG mistake! I guess this must be a hard process because I tried for 3 weeks to get it changed. I was hung up on 4 times. I was on hold for an hour and 20 minutes so I hung up. After being on hold for 30 minutes a lady came on and said she couldn't locate my account and then hung up on me. Late fees late I talk to some one who changes my credit card in. She said my next payment will be ran the 22nd. The 22nd came and went nothing hit my checking account. I should have saved the promo flyer because they now claim they have no record of it. SCAMMED into 2 yr. contract. But as soon as the cancellation fee reduces enough, BYE-BYE for good! Having been a Directv customer on and off for the past several years, I wouldn't say they're the worst based on my past experiences with TimeWarner, now Spectrum. However, our recent experience has been less than satisfying. We have the system with a main receiver, a modem and wireless receivers at each of our other TVs. Initially the service was great with the normal exception of weather interruptions. For the past 2 months, we have been experiencing screens freezing up, slow to respond boxes and other obvious software issues. During our initial call for technical support, we were instructed to re-set the main receiver. Unfortunately the reset didn't solve the issue. The technician advised that if the reset didn't work after a few days that we could call and they would send a technician out to our home. After a week of continuous freezing screens we called back. This time (after several transfers) we were advised there would be a charge for a service technician to come out. After advising we wouldn't pay for a technician to come to our home to fix their problem, they stated we could either sign up for their "insurance" at $8/month (then cancel after 6 months) or pay the $69-99 service charge, we simply stated we would then cancel our service. We were transferred yet again and upon discovering the reason for our dissatisfaction, were promptly given a $99 credit and advised that they could send out the technician at no cost. Again, poor overall customer service experience in that we had to threaten to cancel to get a sastifactory response. Upon agreeing to the credit, we were transferred yet again to the technical department where we were told the the issue we've been experiencing is a known issue with our type of receiver and that sending a technician wouldn't help as it is a known software issue. After asking what the fix is several times the technician admitted that there wasn't a fix at this time. So basically, we had to spend a total of 2.5 hours on the phone telling them about a problem we're having that they clearly know about but cannot resolve. They cannot replace my receiver because they don't have a fix. They cannot update my receiver because they don't have a fix. Obviously, this should be a high priority issue at Directv, but apparently, it is not. My next request was a bill review because, obviously, I'm not receiving the quality of service I've been paying for. That fell on deaf ears, but I will continue to complain about this issue until it gets resolved. If we keep our service if and when the issue is resolved I will update my review. For now suffice it to say, as of 10/28/18 I remain a very dissatisfied Directv consumer. read more

Direct TV is the worst!!! I moved to Ohio about 3 years ago. I was a Direct TV customer back then and I call them to request the transfer of service to my new home in Ohio. At that time they made me pay $50 to book an appointment with a "Technician" and re-install the equipment. The guy showed up 3 weeks later and started making wholes on the walls, ripping the carpet and ruining the hardwood floors. When I complained about the damages he replied "don't you worry sir.....Direct TV will take care of everything....I'm just trying to hide these wires" (of course nothing was done about it). After all this was done he tried to install the dish and he said "you don't have line of sight and I cannot install the dish...we need to call another technician to install it for us" (and of course I was charged another $50 for the other tech to arrive). The other guy arrived and after 2 hours they decided that there was no way to provide the service and I had to call customer service in order to notify them of what was going on and terminate the contract. As soon as I call them the representative told me that they needed to send a supervisor to verify what the other 2 "technicians" said and that I needed to pay another $50 for that appointment. With no other choice, I made the payment and booked an appointment for 4 weeks later (the closest date they could find). While all this was going on, Direct TV keep charging me for the almost 2 months of service AND I COULDN'T EVENT WATCH TV DURING THAT TIME. Long story short, the third guy showed up late (of course), walked around my house and confirmed that no service could be provided because there was no line of sight. I called their customer service line and when I requested the cancellation of the service they charged me $300 for early termination (I was 18 months into the contract). After I paid them the early termination fee and returned the equipment, I received a brand new monthly bill for the service which included another $300 fee. I called to complain and after almost an hour of my call being transferred to different people the issue was solved. To my surprise, 2 weeks later I noticed that my bank account was missing money and when I checked the activity, there was an unauthorized charge of over $500 from Direct TV. So I called them back and complained about the situation. THEY USED THE DEBIT CARD NUMBER INFORMATION I USED TO PAY MY BILLS TO WITHDRAWAL THE MONEY OF THE BILL I SETTLED WEEKS BEFORE. I got transferred over and over again and it was until I told them that I would call the fraud department of my bank to report this unauthorized charge when they decided to refund the money in 10 DAYS. After that, Direct TV attempted to conduct 3 more fraudulent charges on my bank account, so I had no other choice but replacing my debit card with a brand new card number. Eager to find out what the hell was going on, I call them back and their only response was "it's a system glitch....it should be fine now" and when I ask to speak with a supervisor, their operators transfer the call to the call center queue for my call to be answer by a different representative and not a supervisor. Save your money and time and look for another service provider, Direct TV will only give you headaches and problem after problem. To this date I keep receiving monthly statements of an account that was closed and settled a long time ago, and the worst part is that if I don't keep calling them back to fix the billing issue every time this happens, they will send my closed AND SETTLED account to collections. read more
