The worst thing is their towel on the washing bed (the one that would contact with your neck). It smells (like dirty towels) and the location got contact with it felt itchy afterwards the smell from the dirty towel remains on my neck as well until I shower at home this should never happen at a four dollar sign salon. Besides that, the store was clean and quiet. My appointment was 1PM - 4 PM. Only two people were working at that time--the two owners. Tbh it was the first time I saw a hairdresser do everything himself--all the preparation, cut, perming, washing, etc. The limitation of staff resulted in lack of attentiveness. During the perm, the medicine touched my face, and overall the experience was not up to the standard. I really hope that they can improve because hair coco has lots of potentials.

5 Stars for Mary at Hair Cuttery - Laurel, MD…read more I walked into the Hair Cuttery at 13600 Baltimore Ave, Ste 106, Laurel, MD yesterday afternoon as a walk-in and was greeted by Mary -- a very courteous and professional stylist. She asked if I preferred a specific stylist or the first available. When I asked if she was available, she smiled and said "Yes" and led me to her chair. She was very thorough. She properly draped me to protect my clothes and took the time to discuss the cut and style I wanted. She gave me an excellent haircut and showed me the back with a double mirror. Before I could even mention it, she suggested thinning out my sideburns and the back -- exactly what I was thinking! She did it perfectly and checked again to make sure I was satisfied. Afterward, she brushed and blow-dried my hair to remove loose hairs and offered a shampoo. She washed my hair gently and thoroughly and dried it with a clean towel. At checkout, she went above and beyond by writing down the clipper guard numbers she used on her business card for future reference. She checked me out with a graceful smile and invited me back. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by one of the stylists who happened to be at the front desk. Lashelle took me back to wash my hair - she was so gentle and thorough, especially because my scalp is on the drier side during the winter. My hair was long and I wanted to cut a good chunk of it (several inches). When it came time for my haircut, she took her time and made sure it was exactly how I wanted it. She added the many layers, and took her time blowdrying and styling it to showcase the layers. When she turned me around, I wasn't expecting the overall hairdo as I just wanted a simple blowout. I was amazed - I loved it! She made me look and feel amazing. I am overall so pleased with my experience, and I may just have to make the drive back out to see Lashelle the next time I'm looking to make a big chop again!

I made a 9 am appointment asked for the price and explained that my sons football game was t 10 am and that I had to leave at 10 to make it to Silver spring and not miss much. Fast forward to Saturday. I arrived at 8:55 and asked for Chad. They said he wasn't there to take a seat and he would be here soon. 9:15 no Show, 9:30 no show, 9:45 now show, and finally at 9:55 he strolls in and doesn't come and get me from the waiting area. He put on his smock and stood around like he didn't show up almost an hour late. I walked up and said I'm your 9:00 appointment. He mumbles a quaint "my bad!" I show him what I want and he gets me out in 30 minutes. I missed the whole 1st half of my sons game and he was not a happy camper. The only reason I chose to stay is that I had my 20 year Hs reunion in NJ and my Christmas Photoshoot that afternoon. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place and that made me feel very uncomfortable and unappreciated as a new customer. I definitely paid for the reservation, but I wasn't willing to haggle. I was already livid and late. Next time you make an appointment be on time. The haircut was decent maybe a 7.5 out of 10, but time is money and the customer service was definitely lacking.
