He was professional and courteous, read the model and serial numbers, went back to his vehicle to check his computer than came back to us with his verdict. He educated us with a brief history of the LG refrigerator and their compressors, The compressor was our problem, but the cost of replacing it ($1,376) didn't make sense for a 12-year-old refrigerator. His confirmation of what we suspected all along really made our decision easy. And the $133 service call was well worth that knowledge. I can not recommend him highly enough. I recently moved into a new home and despite having had all the usual inspections, it has literally been one thing after another. When my washing machine died, I was given Rich Discotto's name as a recommendation. I am so glad I called. When he arrived to look at the washer, I sprang a list of other little issues on him (beeping fridge, broiler not working, burner out on stove). My dishwasher stopped working, and I live in a rented condo. My landlady called Discotto, and was given a time. Rich promptly showed up at the suggested time. He was quick and he efficiently determined that the problem was the pump. He looked up the part and ordered it online. In a few days the part was here, and he came again, fixed it and got everything in running condition smoothly. It was expensive to get this repair, but that's mostly due to the part that was defective. Rich also offered to come back and take a look in case something went wrong shortly after. That was nice. I called Discotto's concerning a refrigerator malfunction. The water and ice dispensers both stopped working, first the water and then the ice maker. Rich called back and once he heard the description of the problem, asked if I knew when the water filter had last been changed. I couldn't recall so he suggested I install a new water filter (simple) and if that didn't work he'd schedule a house call. Well, it worked. Rich also explained I should use only the manufacturer's water filter and that the newly replaced filter would require priming that could take a while to start the water and ice again. I appreciate someone who chooses to educate and provide a possible solution rather than coming to the house unnecessarily. (I've used Dicsotto's in the past and the work was timely, accurate and successful. Can't beat this combination.) read more

I'm delighted to be the first to review this company. I've been a homeowner for over 16 years and I've used Discotto three times. We got his name from a plumber who was doing some stuff for us. We had a killer double oven when we bought the house but only 2 burners worked, Discotto came out and fixed it and we were DELIGHTED. A few years later they came out and fixed our dryer, good as new. This time, our less than 2 year old GE oven crapped out on Thanksgiving weekend. It had absolutely no power and when it went off there was a funky burning smell. I thought for sure it was a goner (and it was past it's warranty). Discotto to the rescue!!!! They came out around 6pm on a Monday and the guy found the problem within 2 minutes. The guys who installed the oven didn't attach the cord well enough and one of the connectors burned out. Discotto removed the bad part, replaced it (along with a new cord) and we were back in business. If you ever need an appliance repaired you gotta call Discotto. They rock. read more

Called twice for service on a stove. Got no response. I have used them in the past and didn't have this problem.

We have been working with Rich for years. He is trustworthy and very competent. The last time our washer broke he gave me some tips over the phone to try in an effort to try to save me a service visit. When that didn't work, he came out and told us right away that the washer was done. When we went to the store we were unsure which model to get. This business is an absolute nightmare. We contacted them on 3/16 to repair our dryer which had multiple issues. They sent out a repairman on 3/18 who was here less than 15 minutes, said he could fix it, and would return on 3/20 with the necessary parts. It is now 3/23 and he has not returned. We have contacted their offices about 2 dozen times between 3/20 and 3/23 and they keep saying, "We'll give him the message". He has not returned any of our numerous calls between 3/20 and 3/23, has not even begun the job he was hired to do, and has made no effort to reschedule and his stafff clearly have no idea where he is. My family and i are very disgusted and angry at Discotto's complete disregard for his customers. read more

What would you say when the technician replaces the part, doesn't tighten the water sources, has to be called back twice. The second time he says it will take 4 days to get back. In the mean time I have a dishwasher that leaks water on to the floor. When you pay over $250 for diagnosing and replacing a $30 part, you would hope that the repair person would do their job right. If I could rate no stars I would, but he gets 1 for having the part needed for the first problem. read more

I totally agree with Danny K's "nightmare" comment and Paul J's "joke" comment, and unless you have nothing better to do with your time than to make an appointment and wait for them not to show up, then I seriously suggest that you call another company for service. I called Discotto 3 times to make an appointment for service before someone finally called me back - that should have been my first clue! After finally speaking with someone, I was given an appointment for a specific day, with a 9:00 to 11:00 am window. I rearranged my work schedule and cleared my calendar to accommodate the service call. When it got to be 10:30, I became skeptical and began calling what I thought was their answering service, turns out they are only a message service. I asked for someone to please call me back and confirm that they were, or were not coming. I waited, no return calls, no show. I called again at 11:00, 11:30, 12:00 - no calls, no show. I called the answering service one last time and asked if they had spoken with Rich (the owner), and did they know if anyone was coming? I was told by the woman on the phone, that they were only a message service, they only send messages, they don't actually speak to anyone.
