The doors open automatically at 9:00 am and lock up at 9:00 pm. Inside this brand new, immaculately clean showroom on Sheffield in Chicago is a wide selection of about 35 fully configured mattresses on display. They carry the major brand names: Serta, Beauty Rest and different types: memory foam, gel memory foam, hybrid and traditional. You can spend as much time as you want, wandering around and trying them out for feel. No creepy salesman on your tail, breathing down your neck. BTDT. This is also an opportunity to learn, at your leisure, about the different mattress types. It's not simple, given the multiplicities of construction available now. There is an 800 number you can call with questions or to order. Ordering can also be accomplished at the in-store kiosk or online. Prices seem comparable to the other retail stores and are clearly posted. But be prepared for sticker shock. Mattresses everywhere are crazy expensive. Probably because they try to build all this technology into them. Mattress buying has always been a crap shoot because the manufacturers deliberately deliberately obfuscate the market by putting different names on mattresses they distribute to various retailers so they can't compete on price. This place is still part of that. The restroom is also immaculately clean. Located exactly at the intersection of Willow, Sheffield and Clyborn in a small strip mall. The item I purchased, a small kitchen tablet set, came on time and was of good quality for the price. The only thing slightly annoying was that some of the reps didn't have their masks on covering their face (They might want to look into this because I'm guessing a lot of people don't care, but a good segment of customers will just turn around and leave if they see this - we were looking for an accent cabinet that they didn't have, if they had it but the rep wasn't wearing their mask, we would have left rather than work with that person).

Had a full ashtray, so apparently a routine thing for him in the store. Fast forward several weeks and our original two week delivery window kept getting pushed out. After multiple phone calls, we finally had a delivery date. The delivery guys took the old bed, put it on their truck, and set up the new bed. As they were cleaning up, we noticed multiple stains at the foot of the mattress, possibly from shoes. Then we took a harder look and realized the sides of the mattress were frayed and dirty. Checked the tag and the mattress was manufactured two years prior! We bought a new mattress, not a showroom model or a used one. Stopped the delivery guys from leaving, took photos of what we saw on the mattress, had our old bed brought back up and set up with the old frame, and called the warehouse. The guy who answered said they didn't have the mattress we ordered, and didn't know when they would receive it, so they gave us this one. In other words, they KNEW the mattress that was delivered was used and tried to pass it off as brand new. Check reviews for other franchise stores for American Mattress. The scam is common. When you call them out on it, they say they got rid of your old bed, and offer a discount on the used one that was delivered to persuade you to keep it. One star because when I explained to the salesman that a refund was needed because we lost faith in their warehouse, he immediately refunded over $2K. He was apologetic but didn't seem at all surprised. We ended up buying a new mattress from Macys, which delivered the product we ordered, new not used, and delivered when they said they would.

A $30,000 to $35,000 mistake…read more I purchased a ViSpring Tiara mattress, matching foundation, and horsehair topper from [store name]. The salesperson I dealt with was knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant throughout the process. I also tried the mattress several times before buying it, usually for about 10 minutes and once for close to half an hour. So, my review is based on the product that I absolutely hate and is one of the largest financial mistakes I have made, and not towards my salesperson whom I liked. Sadly when a product is so bad, and the outcome so poor, the end result is bad for all involved. Unfortunately, I have been extremely unhappy with the bed. My side is medium tension, which was recommended for my weight and was supposed to be the right configuration. It has not been. The mattress is uncomfortable, my back hurts, and I do not sleep well on it. I also removed the horsehair topper to see whether that was the problem. It was not. The mattress remained very uncomfortable. I recently contacted the store about purchasing another ViSpring topper that my salesperson thought would work better in my case, and in one final attempt to make the bed work. After spending roughly $30,000 to $35,000, I was offered only a 10% discount. They were not obligated to offer anything, but I found that disappointing given the amount I had already spent and the fact that the bed had not worked for me. Felt they took no responsibility for the product they represent. I understand that mattress comfort is personal, and this mattress may work well for someone else. But at the end of the day, knowledgeable and professional service does not help much when the product does not work for the customer, particularly after such a significant purchase. I tell you how bad this mattress is. Flying a lot, staying at normal business hotels at times, i find the beds at those normal hotels, even in Japan where the beds can at times be as hard as the flooring, more comfortable. They recommended ViSpring to me over Hastens, especially given the upkeep the Hastens need. We have a couple of Duxianas at home, their top model and their entry level one. Ironically Duxiana entry level is the very best of the bunch. Also have another mattress that we bought in NZ. That is very good also but you cannot find it in Chicago, and by the time you ship it here, you might as well buy the Savoir! Even taking a nap on the couch at times, i wake up and feel much better than sleeping on the ViSpring. Serious. My advice is to be extremely careful. Spend as much time as possible testing the exact mattress, foundation, firmness, and topper combination. Do not assume that the ViSpring name, beautiful materials, or recommended firmness will guarantee comfort. For me, this was a $30,000 to $35,000 mistake.

Now, I spend time researching smaller stores who have an expertise in a specific area of the product I am looking for. Walking into Chicago Luxury Beds at 440 North Wells Street in Chicago, IL was a breath of fresh air and a positive change of pace for me. I was immediately greeted by Robert who epitomizes what we want from others when we walk into a place of business. He was knowledgeable about the products in the store while being warm and caring as well. Robert was articulate with a warm demeanor and no high pressure sales. Henry soon joined our conversation as I had many questions about the products and services. Both of these men spent time with me to ensure I was selecting exactly what I was hoping to buy. There was no pressure to buy the most expensive option or increase the budget as I've experienced in the past. Luis totally respected our budget which I appreciated. I was a bit on the fence of trying the newer hybrid memory foam bed and the traditional spring bed especially since I was bed shopping sans husband. His assurance that we could exchange the bed within 120 days was comforting. It helped us go the Beautyrest Alcove Hybrid which we love. Luis also told me to check in on yelp for a discount. Best of all he was able to get it delivered same day. Delivery was timely as promised and quick. While it was a hectic circumstance which led to the new bed, we are very happy with the change and new mattress. I highly recommend shopping here. In fact, a few months later, my husband and I came back (with our dog in tow) to pick out a bed for our guest room. Our guests have reported it was comfortable.
