Charles Chitava was an amazing team member at the North Halsted Matress Firm store, and he not only did what he had to do to sell the product, but he made me feel super confident about what I was buying. Even though, generally speaking, I am an "easy" customer and I don't have any ridiculous demands or incredibly unrealistic expectations about customer service, I know good, effective, customer-centered employees when I see them, and Mr. Chitava was one of those. I had my doubts at first in regard to the frame/base I bought with my matress, but those doubts melted away once I saw the end result. Oh, and Miguel Soliz, the driver of the truck that brought my matress and frame to my place, was such a sweet, cool, helpful guy. I received the items I paid for on the date that was promised, and I have ZERO complaints about the stellar service that I received at Matress Firm North Halsted. I called to complain that the box spring delivered in June is broken after 5 uses. At first the customer service representative said "there's nothing I can do" and then she said "quite a bit of time has passed." I explained once again that this box spring has been used 5 times and that we need for it to be replaced. This purchase cost more than $650 dollars and I now know not to buy from Mattress Firm again. The best customer service. I went in to Mattress Firm during President's Day weekend because my current mattress had broken down. My mattress was 8 years old with a boxspring. I went in and was greeted by Brigid who was beyond wonderful. Not only was she patient but she was super understanding and non-judgemental. I originally had sticker shock at the cost of a good mattress. In the past, I would buy cheaper mattresses with the old school metal frames. I was expecting to pay no more than 400 dollars. Brigid was able to convince me to buy a more durable mattress. I ended up getting an adjustable base as well. I have sleep apnea and chronic illness. Brigid assured me that the adjustable bed with the more expensive mattress would help with my health issues by relieving the pressure off my joints. I'm so glad that I listen to her. You could tell that she is a caring person and wasn't just looking for a quick sell. A couple months later, I ended up calling because I thought that the base had broken. Instead the leg wasn't engaged correctly. Brigid and the store manager followed up immediately and sent a new delivery team who realized that the leg just needed a quick hit with a mallet. I was so embarrassed but Brigid was so understanding. Overall, I had an excellent experience. The only hiccup was with the initial delivery. They showed up without tools! So they installed the base within inside of my old bed frame which was a little dangerous as if I wasn't careful, I could step between the old metal frame and the bed base and fall. I later unscrewed the old frame and removed it. I believe they did this so I could keep my old headboard which was thoughtful. But, I am a little clumsy so I didn't want to risk it. Both delivery teams were super professional and helpful! Of course, I just learned that I may be relocating to another state. Ugh, life is so unpredictable. So, I'm trying to see if I can only ship my mattress as it was a pretty penny. If not, I will be selling a Beauty Rest PressureSmart Plush Queen Mattress on Facebook Market Place over the next few months. So keep a lookout for it. read more

I want to start this very negative review with the ONLY redeeming part about this situation were two store associates named Leonard and Eduardo. I believe they truly tried their best to remedy the situation within their means, and honestly deserve to work for a better company. Also, only purchase a mattress from here if you are setting up your own pickup/delivery. There are numerous reviews about how unreliable it is, and I wish I knew this before shopping here. Big takeaways from this experience: - if you buy anything from a retail location, the corporate arm of Mattress Firm is basically useless to you - the delivery service is extremely unreliable, coordinate your own pickup or use a service like Dolly, but be prepared to help move your items - make sure the mattress you're buying is in stock in a large quantity, or it's even better if they have the mattress at the physical location you are buying it from - don't leave it up to them to find a "comparable" mattress for you, the one I received is not like what I tried in the store, and I have no information on what I actually received (brand/model/warranties/etc.) - I will forever only buy my mattresses online. It's not like I got to pick out what I received and the online companies deliver via mail in a compact box that you do not need to arrange additional delivery for I came in about 12 days before my move to purchase a mattress + box spring and setup delivery for my move-in day. I was moving cross country and told them that I would only purchase a mattress from them if they could deliver it on the following Monday. They told me it wouldn't be a problem and that they also found me a similar mattress at a discount from their warehouse. Sale went well and I was informed that I would get a call the night before with my delivery time. I never received a call, so on move-in day I called the corporate number to be informed that no delivery was scheduled and the mattress I had purchased was now out of stock. The corporate line can also not help you with any deliveries placed with the stores, so they told me the store would be the only people who could help me. Leonard did his best, but there were no open delivery slots the rest of that day, and after driving 20 hours cross-country, I was forced to sleep on the floor of my new apartment. The following day I had to go to work, and specifically told them that I would not be home until 5pm (I had the day off before for the move-in + mattress delivery). I then received a text that they were coming around 3:15pm, and I was the only delivery on the North Side of town, so it was either they came at that time or I couldn't get the mattress for another 2 days. At this point, no concessions were being made, no pivoting, no compromise, and I was not about to sleep on the floor for another 2 days. The least they could have done was re-arranged deliveries for me, doing the others first and then mine, which I understand would be a pain but come on. I ended up having to cancel my delivery with Mattress Firm and arranged a delivery with another company, and had to help move the stuff up to my apartment. My building doesn't really allow deliveries like this, like most buildings in Chicago, so be extra careful if your building has rules like that or if you need to schedule deliveries with them ahead of time. The mattress I ended up receiving is way more firm than the one I tried in the showroom, and I hate it. I appreciate the fact that they tried to find me a comparable one and that I have one at this point, but it's not even like I'm satisfied. The manager was supposed to give me a call back so I could talk to him about my issues, but he never did. Also, I was hung up on by the corporate supervisor after she pretended to put me on hold (they have my number, they never called back). I am supposed to receive a refund for the delivery ($80), which has not happened yet, but I do have good faith it will happen because Eduardo has gone to great lengths to keep his promise, including texting me his cell phone number. I would also like to be refunded for the cost of the other delivery service I had to use for the sake of having to sleep on the floor, coordinating my own delivery, and helping personally with that delivery whilst sneaking around my building with a random dude ($70). I'm posting this with the hope the manager will see this review and decide to call me back and rectify this situation. I also hope it saves anyone else from relying on these guys and having to sleep on the floor for 1-3 nights, which is very traumatizing when moving to a new city, especially as a single female. I wish I went to one of the online stores, and now have to look for some type of mattress pad to improve the mattress I received. Needless to say, I'm really let down and this definitely made my move to Chicago 110% harder than it needed to be. read more

The sale went smoothly but the promised delivery at 10:30 am did not nor did they allow me to physically speak to someone on delivery day. I live in a building where you have to arrange the elevator in advance and you can choose one of 2 windows. They told me a.m. would be no problem, in fact 10:30am would be almost definite. You will get an automated call the night before giving you a 2 hour timeframe. You have NO choice. Mine was 4-6 and my building does not allow delivery after 4. I must've called every number I could find and there's no way to speak to someone. I sent a friend to the store and it was closed with a note from a disgruntled purchaser on the door so I'm not the only one who got scammed today. The absolute worst part of this is that there is NO way to speak to a person after you buy and especially not on shipping day. It's all automated and it hangs up on you after it tells your your delivery time. Do not believe any sales person who promises a delivery window. They have no control. Poooooooor customer service. 7.19.18 - Adding to this - Mattress Firm asks for reviews so I wrote one, same as above, and received a response today saying they couldn't use the review but thanks anyway. My partner and I needed a new bed. We were dreading this process because we didn't know what kind of bed we wanted and also knew that it is very hard to judge a bed based on laying on it for a few minutes. We were very discouraged that our pillow top mattress was wearing down after only 4 years. We knew we needed a different type of mattress but had no idea what. We had planned to make a day of mattress shopping and hitting several stores, including Tempurpedic and Sleep Number. As we were starting our day, we passed the Mattress Firm store just a block from our home (as one does, since they are EVERYWHERE!!). We decided to stop in. We were instantly greeted by salesperson Michael and felt welcomed immediately. We spent probably a total of 2 hours in the store with Michael and he couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Sure, he is a salesperson and that is his job, but we never felt pressured or uncomfortable to make a purchase which was not right for us. We laid on a LOT of beds. He seemed very interested in selling us the bed which was right for us, which we appreciated. We ended up purchasing a Dreambed Lux (medium firmness) as that was the one we liked best. It is a memory foam bed which is Mattress Firm's house brand and competes with more expensive beds like Tempurpedic. While this bed (a king) was certainly not cheap and was priced over our budget, Michael was able to give us a very nice discount so we were able to get the bed we really wanted. We also ended up purchasing some pillows and a mattress protector. We also got a free pillow as well! We purchased the bed on a Saturday afternoon and got delivery on Sunday evening. They hauled away our old bed and took care while delivering the new bed. The delivery process is very transparent - we got a text message giving us a two hour window of delivery - and the bed was delivered within this window. You can also track the delivery truck online and see where he is on a map. I can see why Mattress Firm stores are virtually EVERYWHERE. Their service was just outstanding and they had a huge selection of beds. Our salesperson Michael made the process so easy. We would recommend anyone looking for a bed to go see him! We have now had our bed for a little over a week. So far we are really pleased with the bed and feel very supported. We have 100 nights to decide whether we want to keep the bed. I believe it is a store policy that for $79 you can return the bed for a refund or exchange it (if bed is not damaged). We don't anticipate having to return it but it does give peace of mind since this was a rather expensive purchase. Thanks Michael! read more

I blame Michelle for my Bedding Experts experience this weekend. What was supposed to be a day spent picking up a few last minute gifts and recovering from my birthday party turned into a hefty dent in my AMEX. Even American Express was concerned and emailed me within 2 minutes of that swipe. Never shop with a Michelle - they're very good at spending other people's money. I shouldn't be so hard on her though. Michelle is also smart with other people's money. She's heard us complain about needing a new, much larger mattress for close to a year now. It's hard sleeping in a full bed with someone else when the slightest movement, sound, or territory-claiming leg stretch awakens you. The moment had come and it was time to man up and upgrade. We stopped in to check out the beds they had to offer and compare prices with others we had seen. The salesman acknowledged us, showed us a few options that were in our style and price range, and let us mull it over. He gave us some pointers on which types of beds are a best fit for certain types of sleepers. He told us to try the beds out only after we removed our jackets and our shoes (it makes it a completely different experience, of course!) As he tended to a few customer issues with the other couple in the store (that's a whole other story in itself) we had a chance to hop around all the other mattresses and talk over the options. In a flash we were up at the front desk purchasing our big kid mattress. 2 days later we had a brand new mattress, boxspring, and frame. We slept in it last night. Heavenly clouds. I was able to spread my body our a little bit more than before and I didn't even wake up once during the night. When you go in, see if they will price match another store. More likely than not they can. Also, I was able to get a student discount (yay grad school!) and I can imagine there are many discounts available if you just ask. Touche, Michelle. It's your fault that we will be sleeping MUCH more comfortably, and for a place where you spend 1/3 of your life, you can't put a price on that! read more

Maybe they should change their name to Bedding Pushers instead of Bedding Experts. I went here to buy my first "big girl bed" because the 2 inch thick IKEA mattress I have from 5 years ago just isn't cutting it anymore. So, I really didn't know anything about buying a mattress, but I knew I didn't want to get screwed over. My husband and I went here because of the sales that were advertised, but the sales were on the shitty mattresses, similar to my IKEA crap. The sales woman seemed nice at first but the longer we were there the more pushy she was. They seemed to have a decent amount of options, but since we were looking on the low end - we only had three. She tried to sell us a nice mattress for a reduced price of $540 (down from $600 after she "took the time to call her manager on his day off" - or so she said). But this didn't include a box spring or a metal frame. When we said we were going to think about it and come back she started pressing us about where we were going, who we were going to talk to because she said "she knew all the stock in the other stores and this was the best". Then on our way out after telling her we needed to think about it she whined and said "not to make her look bad in front of her manager by calling him on his day off". Eeeek. If their prices had been better, I may have been able to overlook her scary sales pitch, but I am now happily awaiting a delivery from their competitor (located right across the street) and got a much better deal with a box spring, and a metal frame and free delivery. read more

Had a pretty darn good experience with these guys. Didn't feel as if we were being pushed around or completely suckered. That being said, there were some points of confusion. We were told that the price we got our MiForma bed for was a steal, yet the price was what was on the bed itself as the retail price. Only slightly confusing, but still a good price. Additionally, we were sold the Tempurpedic Symphony Pillows at $99 a piece, apparently normally retailing for $129 for the standard size. Once we got home, looking around, $99 was the actual retail price for the style and size pillows we got. After talking with the store manager, who called to check on our delivery and set up, I asked about the price of the pillows. He explained that since their store was new at selling Tempurpedic products, their standard prices were higher than most retailers. The price they gave it to us for was the MSRP for the pillows - they were simply price matching for us. Normally one should have to ask for they; they were kind enough to do it without asking. I guess, looking back at it, we did little to no research beforehand. So that's our fault. The guys were really nice. We had no problem with financing (thank God for good credit). And at least we're not being charged delivery. My advice: have a good idea what you want going in. Be knowledgeable of standard pricing. And don't be afraid to ask for price matching. Aside from that, this is a good store to go to, especially if you're "family." read more

The sales guys are good and try to take care of their customers. However , if you have a problem ,they are helpless! We bought a king size bed for $2000. After sleeping on it for only 2 1/2 months, there are two sunken areas that almost make it impossible to roll over. The bed sinks even deeper when laying on it and is very uncomfortable. We asked to exchange it but we where told there is nothing that can be done Now we re stuck with this bed. Never has this happened to us before with a bed. We will NEVER buy from here again !!! Yes we did have an inpection and the inspector blamed it on the installation which was by bedding experts...there should not be a 1 inch sag in your mattress after only 45 days of use...Im sorry this has never happened to me before!!! and the fact that I am still talking about a mattress is more irritating in itself... read more

Great Place. My wife and I went mattress shopping few weeks ago and we had no idea what to buy. We were not willing to spend much money and we really didn't know what is out there on the market. After seeing few places we realized we will go with Tempur Pedic. Expensive but the best investment of my life. Where ever we went they told us that prices on tempur pedic mattresses are the same every store you go. That was true. We went to this store and the guy who worked there told us the same thing but he also told us that we will get us the mattress with tempur pedic pillows and the frame which was a great deal. He was really nice and polite and he explained to us what to look for without pushing us to purchase the mattress. Definitely great place to buy your new mattress. read more

I hadn't slept in weeks, and I was starting to go a little crazy. I knew what had to happen: my mattress needed to go. I decided to go looking at new mattresses, but wasn't set on buying one. I wanted to upgrade my full to a queen, and that was about all I knew. I was out shopping around the area, and stopped into the Bedding Experts to start doing my research. Stacy was the only person on duty that day. He asked me what position I slept in and some questions about my old mattress. After listening to me, he made a few suggestions and had me try out a few beds. I had no clue what I was doing, and he made the process very simple. He had me sold on either a Sterns and Foster or a Sealy Posturepedic. Sterns and Foster has a 25 year warranty and is more expensive, but a great quality bed. Sealy has a 10 year warranty and is also great quality. Since I can't see myself on the same bed 25 years from now, I decided I liked the Sealy more and Stacy thought that was reasonable. But I wasn't sure I wanted to buy that day, and Stacy didn't pressure me. I continued on my way and ended up going to 3 other mattress stores that day. I have to tell you: Stacy is easily the best salesmen out of all the other shops. I asked all of these guys questions about their products, and I didn't really feel like any of them could answer them well for me except Stacy. So by presentation alone, I wanted to buy from him. But I will say that even though I could've gone with a cheaper bed, the Sealy was definitely the best thing I laid on that day. By the end of the day, I was pretty set on the idea of getting a new bed that day. I ended up going back to Stacy that evening and doing the paperwork to finance the bed. I'll admit this may not have been the most well thought out decision on my part, and I wasn't entirely sure that the bed was going to fit right in my room. I told Stacy this as I went through the application process, and I told him this was concerning to me because he was going to have the bed delivered the next day. He told me to call him if I ended up finding that it wasn't going to fit or if we'd have to make any changes. So I got home, I measured things out, and I was pretty happy with this slightly impulsive decision. But then I realized one thing I never considered: the height of the bed! I realized it was probably going to be too high, and I called Stacy panicked the next morning. The bed was on it's way! The box spring was going to be too big! Stacy told me he'd tell the guys not to bring the box spring, and he'd have a lower profile one delivered THE NEXT DAY. Because he understood my situation, he didn't even charge me for this mistake on my part. What a guy! So the bed was delivered over 2 days, and all was well. So it's been a week, and I am glad I bought this? Oh my God yes. I can't get out of bed in the morning because I'm so comfortable. I'm finally sleeping through the night! My sanity is restored! I lay down in bed and think, "Man. This is awesome." and I wake up in the morning thinking, "This is still awesome." If you sleep on a crappy mattress, buy a good bed ... you will be very happy that you did. And if you're going to buy a bed, buy it from Stacy. read more

I was NOT looking forward to getting a new mattress as it is probably the most confusing item one shops for! THIS President's DAY I was determined. I am closer to the one in Andersonville but after reading the reviews posted here I decided to brave the parking and go see Stacy! EVERYTHING in these posts is true - I got a great mattress - OK I DID spend alot but you spend 1/3 of your life on this thing AND when you figure a glass of wine is up to $11 well.... Delivery was seamless and then the fun began - I COULDN'T get INTO THE BED!! It was so high I couldn't even lift my fanny onto it - the bedside table was a foot and a half down! I was terrified of falling out of it! A step stool like the one for dogs?? What with said wine etc. receipt for disaster. I called Stacy immediately and the followning day the boys delivered something called a Bunkie mattress which lowered the bed by 7 inches! They took the box spring back and I had to pay another $100 restocking fee BUT at that point I didn't care.. Life is good and I highly suggest that you see Stacy. Just be sure that you realize how tall the bed is going to be as the ones on the floor are what you THINK you are getting! read more

When I moved downtown, one of the first things I needed to do was buy a bed. I turned to Yelp and saw that this was a good place to go for the area I was moving to. I was in and out in half an hour--it was a great experience. I went on a weekend afternoon and was the only customer there. I easily found the mattress I wanted. The frame comes free (pretty standard) and I added a headboard. The price is right where I expected it to be. What was great about the whole thing is that they will deliver and assemble your bed for you and even pick up your old mattress and take it away for you. I didn't have anything that needed to be taken away, but took them up on delivering my mattress and setting up my bed for me. The apartment we moved into was not the most friendly when it came to moving large furniture and I was really worried that my bed (I got a queen) would not fit easily into the apartment. Well, these guys are real pros, and got the bed in and assembled in about as much time as it took me to pick out a mattress and pay for it (less than an hour). The only thing to be aware of is that if you want them to deliver and assemble your bed, you're going to have to purchase enough in advance. I think I bought it almost a month out and my move in date was no problem for delivery. I only wish they were available to help me move into my next place. read more

I came to buy my first two grown up beds last week and I was really really happy with the service! The man that helped me was super nice and extremely helpful. He asked me who was going to sleep in each bed and what did I like, and he totally got what I answered because the three beds he made me try were awesome! Plus he did a very good job in helping me understand the differences between them. I got a really really good deal for the two queen beds, boxsprings, frames and legs, plus mattress covers!! However, they are delivering them next Friday (the day I chose) and I will update the review then! UPDATE: The delivery was perfect too! Everything came just in time, they called before, everything was just what I bought and absolutely perfect, they set each bed right where I wanted in 5 minutes and then took all the plastic bags and boxes with them. I went to sleep city first since the str rating was better on yelp...I was extremely disappointed. I called ahead and had asked if they had traditional cool mattresses and the sales person said they had lots...got to the place and found they only had one that wasn't the memory foam coils and it was an absolute piece of shit. I went over to bedding experts and Bobby helped me even after the store closed. I didn't think he could find a firm enough mattress, he knew the exact gauge of the coils to ensure it was good quality and he found one that was even "too firm" which I thought was impossible. I found a perfect bed at a great deal that I know will last for years because of their 10 year warranty guarantee! Would highly recommend! read more

My partner and I were really not looking forward to the process of picking out a new mattress, because salespeople can be stressful to work with. Luckily that was not our experience here, as Phillip was so friendly and helpful and made the process a lot easier. We never felt pressured to spend more money or buy something that we didn't need. Phillip showed us plenty of beds and was happy to help us for about an hour and a half until we had picked a mattress. Later, we changed our mind about getting an adjustable frame and he switched it to a box spring last minute for us. Have not decided if I am going to buy a mattress here yet (its a very important and expensive decision) but I just spent an hour with Wilson, with whom you would be very lucky to spend your time. I first called asking about prices for bed frames and spoke to WIlson, and somehow an hour later found myself coming into Wilson's Mattress firm store on Halsted. He knew I had my mind set on a mattress not available in Mattress firm but decided to show me comparable mattresses and educated me on all the ins and outs. He is incredibly knowledgable about every product in the store and is very, very patient and kind with you. He wants your business and will work with you. I might go with a Dream Bed from Mattress Firm but need to still shop around and test other mattresses. His customer service is A+ and whatever mattress I decide to choose, I will be buying products from his store (pillows, mattress covers etc). I think he should be teaching classes on sales and customer service while making record sales at Mattress firm a side gig. read more

So after reading all of the wonderful reviews about Stacy, the store manager, I decided to give this place a try. I spoke with him on the phone to inquire about a certain bed and prices. He informed me of all of the financing options and he wasn't shy to offer discounts upfront. I chose to pay in full but it was nice to know my options....such a nice change of pace instead of playing the numbers game like some sales people like to do. I was in and out of the store within about 30 minutes. I ended up picking a different style of the bed I thought I wanted orig. but I don't think I have ever felt so comfortable making a somewhat of a large purchase so quickly. I recommend ANYONE to go straight to the Bedding Experts when you need a new bed! Stacy was NOT pushy and was well informed of all of the beds there. So happy we stopped in here. Our salesperson was fun and courteous and he made it too easy to spend $2000 on a new mattress. We got to lounge around as much as we wanted and the salesman was extremely knowledgeable about the different nuances of his mattress stock. While there is no parking per se. I bought a Tempur-Pedic here 3 years ago. Mattress is still doing great. 6 months ago I moved and tried to move the adjustable base myself(which I don't recommend) and ended up ruining it. I went back to Mattress Firm today for just a regular foundation. Michael greeted me, introduced fellow employees in the store and helped me resolve my issue right away. It felt like I was getting help, support, and education about bedding - not just some guy trying to sell me something. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! My wife and I were casually shopping for a queen mattress set here. The regional manager berated us, called me an idiot and mocked my wife, simply because we wanted to shop around before making a purchase. The attack was completely unprovoked and shocked us.
