The clips that he installed on the frame gives us the option of being able to easily remove the sun screens if we need to wash our windows. In the fall when the weather cools off, we can also switch out the sun screens completely and replace them with the original window screens that came with our home. This allows us to open our windows and let the cool air in. It was also important to us to work with a SRP contractor. It made the SRP rebate process so easy. Bryan was referred to us by neighbors. They said that he was the best price and best quality for the dollar. While I didn't shop around, I do think he was a good deal. Our house had sun shades on the window but they were OLD. So old that they were white, flimsy and barely had any thickness to them. In short the sun had killed them. Maybe they were of good quality when they were installed, but not when we bought the house in 2017 (now a year later in 2018). Bryan brought over two samples of the shades - Suntex 80 and Suntex 90. The 90 is a bit thicker weave so it is makes the window look darker from afar and also makes the house darker inside. We opted to get 90 on the south, east, and west sides and 80 on the north side. What this material attempts to do is to block 90% of the sunlight before it gets to your windows before it can heat the glass pane which is turned into conductive heat which is then transferred into your house. Let's talk numbers. We have a 1938 square foot house and have 19 double-pane windows (16 rectangular and 3 half circle windows. We paid $1450 for all windows. The half circle windows cost more, so if all you have is rectangle/square windows then it will be less. Also remember to submit your SRP rebate for window shade screens. While this is not a lot, it is a savings; my discount was almost $200 and all it discounted was the window shades on the south, east, and west sides. The windows on the north side do not apply to the SRP rebate. The windows look good on our house. We recently got our house painted and our aging windows almost looked weird with new paint. So the new shades breathed some nice life into the house aesthetic appearance. Unfortunately I cannot really comment on the savings seen. Our A/C is old and we need some new insulation done on the house. So I can't say if it is saving us any. I will say this, the windows are no longer hot. Prior to the shades you would put your hand on the inside of the window and feel the heat seep through. This was conductive heat transfer and now with the shades the heat is much less... so it is doing something. I just don't have numbers to back this up at this time. As for Bryan, he was always prompt on his emails and always on time for estimates and installation. Bryan, I believe, is a one man business but still does a great job.
