I had never been to a Discount Tire before, but I am extremely impressed by the customer service and time it took for everything to be ordered and replaced. They ordered the tires I wanted during a 10 minute phone call. The tires arrived two days later. When they called to tell me the tires arrived, I scheduled an appointment for the next weekend. Then when I arrived for my appointment they saw me immediately and got my tires changed within 45 minutes. Price was on par with other auto shops, but the customer service cannot be beat. I bought 2 tires for my Hyundai Genesis from Discount Tires in Cary, NC, with whom I had done business before. made the deal on line, and although they didn't have the tires in stock, said they would be there in 1-3 business days so made an appointment 3 business days out. They contacted me the next day said not happening going to be 7 days. No big deal, made new appt. Have my tires put on, go home an hour later go out low pressure light comes on. Go check, one tire has 19 psi, fill it to 33. Check the other, it had 37. Really guys??? You don't do anything BUT tires and 1 is 19 and the other is 37??? 1 hour out of the shop? As far as tire service centers go, these guys are definitely above average. They do a good job of price matching and generally can get you in the same day or the next. I've been going to this specific shop for many years And have spent a lot of money at this location. Today I was highly disappointed. I have waited 3 hours for a simple tire patch. I was not given any time frame for how long a small patch in one tire would be. several people who came in after me WITHOUT an appointment for brand new tires were in and out while I was sitting. When asked about wait time after 2 hours of nothing, the man who helped looked annoyed about me even asking. I guess to get service I should have bought a set of new tires? manager on duty was clearly flustered and unorganized. this will be my last visit to this location. read more

Had a great experience here this week. I got a great price and quick installation. I also able to meet a friend at Sophie's Restaurant for a cup of coffee. So while picking my car I noticed an imperfection in both driver side tires. I mentioned this to Al, the store manager and we both went out so he could understand my concern. He promptly said he could order replacements in the next day. This suited me quite well. Upon my return the car was checked in right away however being a busy Friday morning it took 57 minutes to swap out the two tires. Long and short I do highly recommend Al and his team's service. Came here on a Monday morning because my driver side front tire had a screw in it. I got there about 15 minutes before they opened and waited for them to open along with a few other people. I think they actually opened their door around 5 minutes earlier than their opening time which was nice. Once I got inside, the employees start calling people up one by one. The gentleman who helped me was Sinclair. He treated me with every courtesy and is extremely professional and helpful. I could tell that all of the employees at this branch hold themselves to a high standard to that respect. I left around 40 minutes later with my tire patched up free of charge and me a happy camper. We purchased a full set of tires from a Dallas area Discount Tire store, but found out during our recent vacation that the tires had become extremely worn down far too fast. Since we had a long trip back home, we decided to stop at this location to have them check the tires out before heading back to Texas. Boy are we glad that we did. Our tires were in dire need of replacing. This store is fantastic. Fast, courteous service for sure. Brian, who I'm pretty sure is an assistant manager at this store, couldn't have been more helpful, polite and knowledgeable. He found us an excellent deal on a full tire replacement set - so much better than the set we previously had. The associates here are super friendly and experienced. Theses guys are so honest!!! I brought our 2011 Honda Odyssey EXL in for repair of a rather big-holed tire damage for tires we bought from them. We were worried that it would need replacement based on the extent of damage. However, these guys salvaged the tire! They patched it up as good as new! I've always been a satisfied customer, but today's experience (a very busy day due to Christmas) is what made me a customer for life. They were so courteous to myself and the other customers. If all you need are tires and/or wheels properly installed, and don't want or need to hear the upsell on services that you might need including an alignment, DT can get you in and out in under 35 minutes, which is quite amazing. Categorically: Location: 4 out of 5 This location and the other in Cary (on St Charles) are similar in distance from where I live in McArthur Park, but this location was a bit closer from where I work. While not as close as the Mr. Tire on Davis, I was intrigued by the low estimated wait time and the online scheduling appointment service (more on this later). Decor/Amenities: 4 out of 5 The red that highlights the waiting room area is quite catchy, and livens the place up. The free coffee comes out of an actual dispenser, and not just out of a percolator or industrial carafe. The bottled water that was chilled in the mini cooler was also a nice touch. While none of these attributes have a practical effect on the consumer, it did at least seem nicer. A good variety of magazines adorn each of the tables in the waiting room. Wi-Fi would be a worthy investment, even if it was limited to 30 minutes per IP address (since most customers wait under 35 minutes anyway). I have my hotspot with me almost all the time, so this last point doesn't really apply to me, but others may be impacted if they need immediate access to the web and are on WiFi only devices. Customer Service: 5 out of 5 I like a place like DT that only does tires. There's no chit chat about the fact that yes, I still need to have my rear valve cover gasket replaced, or about maybe getting my heater core backflushed. I called at approximately 9:30 in the morning to see if they could perhaps fit me in earlier than the earliest online slot of 12:30 if I came in right away, and Zach informed me that yes, they could probably see me in 30 - 35 minutes. What I thought this meant was that once I got there, I would wait for that time, and then sit through the normal somewhat laborious process of getting my tires changed, which can take an hour or two. I "reserved" my tires online, drove over, and sure enough they got my van into one of the bays almost right away. 35 minutes later, another gentleman let me know that they were done and asked me if I had any questions, and then brought my van back out front for me. Efficiency: 5 out of 5 I'd give them a 10 out of 5 if I could. The 30 - 35 minutes of wait time was preposterously low, but it made sense after I watched how they worked at the stations. The initial check is done outside in the parking lot (presumably just to make sure that the lug nuts can be taken off, etc.). A limited but very precise checklist that each one of the technicians follows after each vehicle is brought in really is where the efficiencies are manifested. Not checking for brake wear, and if you're getting new tires anyway, they're not checking for old tire wear or tread patterns. Wheels off, old tires taken off, new tires mounted on wheel, tires inflated, new tires balanced, wheels back on vehicle, boom. Value: 5 out of 5. I will never be in a market for high performance high mileage tires purely because I really don't drive that much. My new-to-me 2001 party van is a secondary vehicle that I can take car camping when I have out of town trail races, and I drive it to work on days when it's raining really hard, icy, or when air temps are under 20 degrees (which hasn't happened very often in aggregate). Otherwise, I take my motorcycle. So it came as a pleasant surprise when the out the door price on a set of tires including all taxes and fees was 350$ including the 4 certificates for replacement/repair. This comes to 87.50$ per tire, completely out the door. Yes, their website lists the tires at 54$ each, but then shows you exactly what you're paying for in terms of disposal fees, environmental fees, installation, etc. Mr. Tire has competitive pricing on tires as well, as follows: their house brand "Economy Performance" for my van are quoted at 74.99 per tire installed, not including the 6.75% NC sales tax. Adding 12$ to that price for their road hazard coverage and tax, it comes to about 93$. Also keep in mind that because the pricing given by Mr. Tire is all inclusive, you're paying more in tax. At DT, you pay tax only on the tires, certificates, and Tire Disposal fee, and NOT on installation or the environmental fee. Long story short - I saved approximately 22$ going to DT rather than Mr. Tire for a similarly spec'ed set of tires. Not a whole lot in the long run, but that does pay for lunch, and the service time was much less at DT. Overall: 5 out of 5 A rare perfect experience for me. Very competitively priced, friendly folks, fit me in quickly even though my appointment wasn't officially for another 2 hours, and the efficiency was remarkable. read more

Forgot about scheduling appointments on weekends. I used to love this place, when Joey was managing it, but my last two experiences were just awful. Today, I had an appointment at 11:30, and I came on time. After waiting 1/2 hour, I asked the employee the status. He told me there were still 3 people ahead of me in the line. I told him his company needed to fix the web site (or the number of people allowed to schedule appointment at a certain time). He rudely responded he doesn't control the web site, which might be true, but he's responsible for customer satisfaction. I left without having the service done... Disappointing. read more

On a Sunday I noticed a humongous bolt in my back left tire. I checked the normal places you can check on line -- Sears, Just Tires, called BJ's and they did not have my tire in stock, searched Discount Tire in Google and did not know they existed in my area. Went on line and priced a set of Hankooks that were $200 less for 4 than Sears and $150 less than Just Tires for similar rated wear life tires. Discount Tire was not open on Sunday, so I made an online appointment for 8:00 am Monday. Pulled up, they had me in their computer and I was out of there by 8:30 and on the way to work! Great Website! Friendly people. I hate giving this great a rating to a chain as I'd rather buy local, but they have done what needs to be done to be successful in this market. Their management must be top notch as they did a number of little things like cleaning the bolts and putting shine on the new tires so they look good. I went here on the recommendation of a friend. I usually use Costco. They replaced the tires on my car and I just hopped in and drove home. Big mistake. I should really have checked the tires at the shop. My wife noticed that they had put the wrong tire on one of the wheels. So we had one mismatching tire. I called and they had to order in another tire. I wasted more time the next week visiting this shop to get the matching tire. If you cannot even put matching tires on a car then you are not a good tire shop. read more

I had a great first time experience with Discount Tire. I was referred to see them based off of their great pricing and the fact they don't try to up sell you on tires. As a young woman, it can be difficult going places and making sure you aren't being ripped off. I felt that the sales associate was honest about his recommendations and didn't try to sell me the most expensive tire for my car. He gave me pricing for different brands and as a walk-in on a busy Friday afternoon, I purchased 4 tires and had them on within 2 hours.. which is not bad for the amount of people in the building. Everyone at the discount tire was more than helpful both on the phone and in the store. Upon leaving, I was given information on the guarantee of the lifetime service on the tires I purchased. Came to replace 5 tires (4+spare) on my 2009 Lexus ES 350. The young man who greeted me had numerous options for me, I needed all season tires that would restore the quiet Lexus ride that I had lost due to worn down treads. He suggested a really nice set of Yokohamas which were top rated (and much cheaper than Michelins) with a 45k mile warranty. Plus, these guys have a guaranteed lifetime replacement plan for punctures and road hazards which is very reasonable ($50 per tire). Ended up with 5 tires for $900 bucks installed, in and out in 45 minutes. New tires look great and the ride is super quiet as promised! Got to drive in the rain, and these Yoko's are very tight! This review is for THIS LOCATION ONLY! My family and I have been using Discount Tire for many years. This location just DOES NOT have it together. Maybe new management? I spent over $700 on tires and requested and appointment time FOR A REASON (1:30, Thursday). They requested I showed up fifteen minutes early, SO I DID AS REQUESTED. I have now been here for thirty minutes, sitting in a "Reserved Appointment Parking Only" spot, and after thirty minutes an associate comes and tells me that he is sorry to let me know that they are taking walk-ins also and that my appointment time, basically, didn't matter. 2:15 rolls around and another associate comes back with the first associate and asks if I have an appointment (obviously, in a reserved appointment spot, where I was told to park), my full name (which I had already given the other associate), what I am getting done (also had told the other associate), and the mileage. I understand the mileage, but the rest? Really? No communication between team members. 2:35 and I finally get my car pulled in. Now that I have spent so much time waiting, my appointments scheduled two hours after tire installation are now ruined. As Im waiting a girl in red mustang pulls up next to me in reserved appointment spot. She gets pulled in immediately after me. Her car is out at 2:58 and I'm still waiting. Finally leaving, it's 3:15 and I've been here for two hours. As I'm leaving, I notice a lady that is not very happy, and as I'm rolling by I hear her speaking of the same issue I had. Clearly it's not just me (along with the other scores I've read). Lucky for this review the company is great, but this location NEEDS HELP (honestly, would give this location one star, maybe 2 because previous experiences were not AS BAD). Will be driving the longer distance next time, unless something changes.
