As usual, life threw me a curveball, but the team at Discount Tire made my day much less stressful. Michael and Dan at the front desk went above and beyond to help me get back on track after an issue caused by another store (Walmart). They were professional, friendly, and took the time to find a solution instead of just sending me on my way. Unfortunately, I didn't get the technician's name, but he was just as helpful and professional. Everyone in the store seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do and took pride in helping their customers. That positive attitude made a stressful situation much easier to deal with. I will absolutely be returning to this Discount Tire location for my future tire needs. Two separate bad experiences. First, I brought my vehicle in for a rotation. I drive a front wheel drive EV and my front tires were getting quite low. The salesperson attempted to tell me that a rotation would make the vehicle less safe. When I explained that the issue With their recommendation was that the weight distribution and torque on these vehicles create understeer in a way that doesn't exist on a typical front engine, front wheel drive ICE vehicle, he agreed to setup the rotation. Unfortunately, I had to repeat this conversation with three more people over an hour and a half to get them to do what I went for. I spent years working with Michelin engineers, specifically studying tire wear patterns and causes. Two weeks and a thousand miles later, I got my tires changed there with an apology from the store manager and a steep discount. That time, things went fine. My partner went in today to get two new tires on the front with the same make/model vehicle and had an exact repeat of that situation. When I called to complain, I was told that regardless of the vehicle, they're required to give the same condescending spiel. These experiences, along with the admission that they are not allowed to grow their knowledge base and make vehicle specific recommendations that aren't corporate approved makes this the last time any of our vehicles will go to a Discount tire. read more

I went to go get my car checked out here after going to the Nissan Fox dealership and they told me it would cost $234 to fix my tire that was deflating. I went here based off of word of mouth, and was greeted by Landon who was super nice and very assuring to my questions no matter how simple they were. I arrived at the end of the day to a free fix on the issue they found, and letting me know if it starts happening consistently, I might want to just replace the two tires. My tire has been perfect ever since, and when I do need to get them changed I am bringing my business here instead of my dealership from now on. Bought 4 tires that they mounted but never balanced. Then they balanced only the front 2 tires, car still shook violently going as slow as 40 mph. Upon bringing it back again they admitted one front tire they had to add so much weight to they new it wouldn't work. What???! Yes, admitted they new it wasn't right. Replaced that tire and car still wobbled going down the road. They never balanced the back tires. Again, WHAT??!! Then having gone back for a 4th time they refuse to balance the back tires saying it's not necessary. Wow...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR YOUR TIRE NEEDS to a place that at least understands the importance of balancing tires. Seems simple, but it's been a huge hassle with multiple trips back and hours and hours of wasted time. read more

Went to this discount tire to put summer tires and wheels back on. Had the pleasure of dealing with Jake, Phil, and Austin. All three were very professional and extremely helpful. I had to make 3 different visits to make sure the tires and wheels fit each other and the vehicle. I dropped (4) truck rims off at noon today and paid $1,100.00 for them to put their last (4) in stock tires on them. They were busy because of the weather but promised they would text me when they were complete and it would be dont today. At 5 pm I called because I had not heard from them yet. I was trapped in their phone cue on hold for an hour. Not only did no one answer, I never got a text saying my job was completed. I may be asking for a full refund in the morning and bringing my rims to Bell Tire and give them a shot at my business. Follow up. I finally got my text around 6:30 pm. Because they close at6 I tried calling to see if they would be around so I could have them on my truck. It's busy and chaotic here when the snow storm caught most of Michiganders off guard early this year. Putting the snow tires back on might sound like an easy task for people who work here. But just imagine you have to do it for 12 hours/Day and 6 days/week. I am amazed the people here still have great attitude and able to smile at people most of the time. It's quite a wait right now but they won't be able to go home until every car that brought in today gets finished. So I would recommend you to be considerate to them. Don't bring your car in the last minute and expect them to finish for you immediately. And please give them enough credits for working so hard. So today we woke up to our tire slashed by some A-hole. We came to Discount Tire about a month ago to get our tires replaced and luckily we got the warranty, which covers pretty much everything for $17 when you purchase new tires. We told Ryan what happened and he totally understood, ordered a replacement tire and carried over the original warranty over to this new tire. I researched new tires on the DT site, printed it out and came in the store - only to be told that the tire was discontinued and they weren't sure why the website would list it. I was unsure about their answer and after getting some prices from the sales guy, I was going to leave to do some more comparisons when he said that we could look up competitor prices. We did - found cheaper prices and he gave me those prices on their comparable tire. Then it turned out they only had 2 in stock - I needed all four. He found a comparable warranty tire that was $10 more a tire - but he gave me the lower price. They said the job would take 45 minutes - I only waited 30 minutes. And the mechanic that brought the car around treated me like an extremely valued customer. I applaud the sales guy for going out of his way to make me happy - and the tech, too. I took my car to this location to get a tire repaired. It was pretty close to closing time. The sales person went WAY above and beyond, telling other customers that he would stick with them as long as it took after closing to take care of them. When I asked him about what he said, he told me that he hadn't been off work on time for months and that it was more important to him to get people taken care of than to get home early. When he went to check my car for milage etc, he happened to notice that my license plate was an Air Force Veteran plate. He shook my hand and thanked me for my service. Bought my first car in 1975, owned 18 different cars since then & bought every set of tires but 1 from them. 2 yrs ago they accused me of not rotating my tires and that's why 2 were wearing a little different. I DO ROTATE my tires. Just this week I called them 2 different times and talked too 2 different salesmen and wanted to buy just 2 tires and said they will only sell in sets of 4, then the wife stopped in and they said the same thing, went some where else and bought 2 of the same brand at better price. 18 cars & trucks, 43 years later, I've spent quite a bit of money there, NEVER EVER BE BACK! The last 22 years all the tires were bought at the Grandville store, this is the store I complaining about. I am NOT one who normally vents, but I'm very frustrated towards Discount Tire in Grandville who put my family at risk when we recently drove to Florida and back. I had brought the car into them prior to leaving asking them to check my tires and they told me I needed replace two tires, which I did, and then told me I was safe to drive to Florida and back. Unfortunately that was not the case. In driving an AWD vehicle you need to replace all 4 tires, otherwise you run the risk of putting stress on your transmission. We were lucky to make it back safely, because three days after we returned, the transfer case blew out, when my wife was driving back from a funeral in Detroit. Now Dicount Tire did pay for the transfer case to be repaired, showing admission of guilt, but they will not cover the cost of two new tires, towing fees, or the stress of being without a car for 4 weeks. I was really hoping they would do the right thing and take care of me, the customer. read more

Avoid the Discount Tire on Canal in Grandville MI at all costs. I called to make sure they had the tires for my daughter's car. I sent her in for two tires and to have all four installed. They sold her a different model tire than what they removed, (which they said the correct ones were in stock), they charged her more than the price online, and they broke a wheel stud and told her to go get it fixed and come back, sending her away with a missing wheel stud to fix at her own expense. I finally got the manager to send her somewhere else to get it fixed. After getting it fixed she went back to get the tires put on and guess what, they broke another one, and sent her away again with a missing wheel stud. I'm so frustrated, I won't bother ever going back, I will always use Belle Tire in the future, they actually have mechanics on site. This Discount Tire will take advantage of anyone that doesn't know any better, use at your own risk. They lack any reasonable responsibility, and don't mind breaking things and telling you to go get it fixed at your expense. I have been the only one to work on that car in the past five years, so I know there were not any problems with the wheel studs prior to them breaking them. They blamed it on me, on the weather, on the hub caps, just about anything but their inexperienced staff and their equipment. I hope this post helps anyone like my daughter that is afraid to stand up and say "what your doing isn't right". Use Belle Tire, they will match Discounts price and have way better customer service and stand behind their work. I won't make this mistake again. read more

I ordered my tires in advance and asked when the best time to drop my car off would be. I wanted to make an appointment and was told I couldn't. So I followed the instructions the employee gave me to drop my car off for walk-in. I made transportation arrangements and even missed an hour of work only to get there and be told, "sorry, we can't get it done today." I am semi-new to michigan. This is my first experience at discount tire. I ended up getting a flat tire in a parking lot. I brought my car into a dealership who attempted to patch the tire, but it was flat by the time I got home. I dropped my car off at discount tire and they replaced the tires while I was at work. I left the keys at discount tire before opening and picked up my vehicle while it was closed...so I never actually met any of the employees. I only spoke with Jason on the phone. He was efficient and friendly and made this experience such a breeze. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else besides discount tire in Grandville. read more
