"Caveat Emptor" Went to Fix-It with Fred for a needed oil change and the air conditioner was…read moreblowing warm air. Dropped the car off told them the problems and mentioned, when braking, the car pulled a little to the left. Later they called with a diagnostic fee which seemed a little high but wanted it fixed. Someone called back the next day told me they had changed the oil and recharged the air conditioning and found leaks at both Schrader valves which they replaced (part of the diagnostic fee I imagine) and I needed $2000 worth of brake work, (front pads and rotors, rear shoes and drums, front calipers, BG brake system service). My response was, "that is a third of what the car was worth, put it back together and the car will be picked up. A total of $2875.81 of work and parts were declined by me. " Just to be on the safe side, two weeks later the same vehicle was taken to another auto repair shop to have the brakes checked, their receipt says "Inspect brakes, approximately 50% -OK". The brakes are working fine. There is probably a large gap as to what is needed for vehicle repairs and what the manufacturers suggests and how much money you have.

When I finally came in, the tech told me I needed new lug studs, and then told me they would cost $380. Here's the problem: lug studs for my car cost about $3-5 each. I could have walked down the street and bought them myself, but the tech claimed I needed "special studs" because of my wheels. That's simply not true, a quick search shows my wheels use standard studs. To make it worse, they ordered the studs without asking me first. If they had asked, I would never have agreed to pay $30+ per stud. When I got home and reviewed the invoice, it was even more concerning. Instead of listing "lug studs," they billed me for a "brake adjuster kit" something completely different from what was actually replaced. My brakes weren't touched, so why does my invoice say that? This feels like a clear case of misrepresentation. I was effectively charged 10× the fair market price for parts, plus given an inaccurate invoice. When I questioned it, I was not allowed to provide my own studs at a fair price. I will not be returning to this shop and I am seriously considering disputing this charge with my bank. If you don't want to be upcharged for basic services or billed incorrectly, I recommend avoiding this place.

Mastertech charged the same to provide parts and do the whole job as it would have cost me to purchase and install them myself and have it aligned. Since then I have been back to them for tires, other suspension work, and a timing belt I lacked the time to tackle myself. I used to call around to compare pricing, but as they came in significantly less expensive than their competitors every time, I no longer bother. They're also very good about informimg you of any other issues to keep an eye on - not to upsell you or try to convince you to have unnecessary work done, but to be aware of any forseeable future issues. They've earned the title of "my trusted mechanic" and I can not recommend them enough.

I took it in today hoping to redeem it. (Before this, I had a spark plug job, and an oil change since late February, totally about a $1,000 worth of services.) In return, the manager offered me a $10 discount on my next oil change. I asked her if she wouldn't give me a $44 credit or 10% back, could she rotate my tires as a courtesy. She said no, it was going to be $20. Okay, so I left even though they were supposed to recheck my lug nuts from the brake job.

They then tried to insinuate that I would not be allowed to use my ford pass points again because they werent for my Ford truck the tires were for my wife's Honda. Hmm, strange that they just used them literally 30 minutes before that to pay for my wifes tires( the wrong ones ). After I paid, picked it up and drove on a variety of different roads and speeds, I noticed the vehicle was significantly pulling to one side. I called to inform them of the situation and was told to bring it back to be looked at, and was reminded it was "first come, first serve" even if you're returning with an issue. I did so and before I could fully get into the lobby, I was met at the door by the mechanic telling me to give him my keys and with reassurances I wasn't experiencing an issue with alignment.... it was the plane of the road, not the alignment of the car which was creating the issue. I explained to him I was experiencing the issue on both highway and city streets, at varying speeds. But he insisted again, the road was the culprit. (I have a class A CDL, by the way, and have driven tens of thousands of miles. And while I might not be able to repair vehicles, I know how they drive.) The mechanic left with my keys, and it was clear no one at the counter wanted to help me. I had to ask them to take my number so they could call me to let me know when my car was finished. A few hours later they called me to let me know the car was repaired and that they had gone "above and beyond" and wouldn't charge me additionally... I guess to do the job right. Can you guess what the reception was like when I returned for the car? I opened the door to the lobby to find the manager walking quickly toward me, keys and paperwork in hard, without one word to say. He handed me my keys in silence. For a shop who seems to want to put a lot of time into wordy excuses about shoddy repair, one would think they could take the time for a pleasantry or two.

On multiple visits, only one side of my truck was prepped, and the tire shine that's included with my package wasn't applied. When you're paying for a monthly membership for multiple vehicles, you expect the services included in the package to be performed every time. The wash itself is okay, but the lack of consistency has been frustrating and makes it difficult to recommend.

I dropped my car off for a minor express detailing service that I had a gift card for, which they accidentally booked me under the all-day deluxe detailing. After paying more for the deluxe service I didn't consent to, I drove my car off the lot to my screen and sound system completely black and my car full of moisture. The screen/sound system was working just fine before the service and I have photos/documentation to prove it. I called the next day and was told to bring the car back and they'd file a report and take photos (which I did). After a week of no contact they stopped responding to my calls/messages/were extremely rude when I showed up in person, and said they weren't liable and would not fix. I even went as far as getting the car diagnosed by an expert with proof of water damage and they won't cooperate/share their insurance information with me to allow the insurance to deem who is liable... I will now be filing a letter from an attorney, but I'm sure they're hoping I give up and pay the thousands of $ in damage. Horrible customer service and honestly emotional/financial trauma from this experience. Again-- have never written a bad review, but don't want anyone else to go through what I've been through!!!
