What they really do is pretend to check your tires and tell you that they're dangerous to drive on and try to sell you new ones. Had an appointment and called in twice to confirm. In fact, I was actually sent over to this location from another Discount Tire. Called in this morning, "yes sir, bring it by we will have it in for you." Cars been here four hours and they haven't moved it. I drove back in to see what was happening... line of people waiting impatiently, tapping their foot. They have 7 or techs in their facility here. Each tech should be able to turn around a car in one hour. That's 7 cars an hour or 28 cars in 4 hours. Seems like a really strong number. Now let's say a tech turns a car around every 2 hours. That's 7 cars done every 2 hours or 14 cars every four hours. So with this math, that means they had 14 cars ahead of me with... a f'ing appointment. I explained I was leaving on a trip today and needed the car back by 1:30. It's now 12:50pm and the car hasn't budged. I am leaving two stars because I'm sure they'll get the job done but not at the agreed time and I was just lied to. UPDATE. I get my car back and there's damage on all the rims!!!! Im outraged. If I don't receive a full refund for my tries I'm taking them to small claims court. I even took video of them removing my wheels in the most careless way. I am currently driving back to their location New update: drove back, explained the damage and showed the video of the tech destroying my wheels. The manager agreed to replace the hub caps but still dissatisfied. It's the time, the driving back and fourth five times, the wait. It was still overall a very unprofessional experience. What I like most about Discount Tire is its predictability. You can count on going in at any given time and receiving a variety of tire options across multiple price points and wear longevity. Also it is almost always busy so expect to wait a bit. Lots of people have cars and need tire help! But you should receive service that is informative and with lots of options. once you do purchase tire or tires , they can be warranted for no fuss repair or replacement if needed. Service is usually friendly helpful guys (have not seen women working at any location - not sure how I feel about this. I guess it depends on the backstory to this) Overall I recommend but would like to see more women & perhaps more folks of color too. read more

I wasin need of a set of tires, mine were dry rotting, I had had the same tires for 5 years although not a lot of miles. As an elderly female servicing my vehicle terrifys me to no end. I called, I got a very pleasant young man by the name of Austin. He said he will be looking out for my arrival and sure did! He met me at my car, checked my tires and wipers. I felt at ease, since all the way there I was STRESSING!! My cost was alot lower than I had expected, with warranty for like 30k miles and free rotations. Last fall I had to buy an emergency tire at a different shop and spent nearly 300 for just 1. I was in and out with new tires and blades less than an hour. I forgot to mention this was on a Saturday afternoon!!!! Another very nice and polite young man, Antoine did my blades and brought me my vehicle all with a warm smile. Had a great experience here getting a consultation on new tires and check up on my current ones now that we're approaching winter season. It is much more cost efficient than going to the dealership and the staff are honest and upfront about what you're getting without pushing you to buy. Bryan the store manager was very helpful and professional in explaining my options to me. I only wish there were more staff available as the wait was very long. I used to go to the discount tire on Washtenaw, but they closed sometime last year. Now the closest is on Carpenter road: it doesn't have the same customer service feel to it. Arrived on time for my appointment. 2 guys working the check in. Waited in line for 11 minutes. From the time I walked in until after I was helped, the phone rang the entire time and no one picked it up. Maybe it was broken. Everything takes longer here. But they fixed my tire. This Discount tire store is the best in the area. I've been coming here since 2010. I've been to Canton on Ford road, which is closer to me from Belleville, but I choose to drive the extra miles to come visit the Ypsilanti store. They are normally very fast, during the summer months, but this time is the first time I'm here in December. They open at 8am and are busy from the get go. Yesterday I came here, and there was a 5 plus hour wait, thus I decided to try today. Just remember one major thing about their credit card. It happened to me today, so am sharing. If you apply for one and you get approved, try and use it at least one time during the year after you applied. I got mine approved in 2016 March, and never used it, thinking I shall use it when needed. Synchrony Bank, who their card is from deactivates account for non usage if one does not use it once a year. Imagine my surprise when my $1000 card declined, for a $200 sale!!! Called Synchrony Bank and had to reapply for credit so I could get my TPMS fixed. Otherwise as I said, they are the best in the area. They are honest, something you hardly find nowadays at any repair facility. They tell you and show you what is wrong with your vehicle and recommends what you need to get fixed to be safe on the road. read more

I have a tire replacement need. Online it is encouraged to order and schedule. I have no idea what tires I have and what I need. I have been on hold for 1:47 hours trying to talk to a person to see if the tire I need is in stock and schedule an appointment to do so. I got my tires installed there, so they did the wheel rebalance for free. Great! I didn't need an appointment. I called to be sure they weren't *too* busy. Kevin told me, come on down, no reason I can't get in and out quickly. He was very professional sounding on the phone. It was a cold snap, so I wasn't surprised that the place was relatively quiet, but after I submitted my car, the number of people tripled as folks were getting out of work and school. I still got my car back in the promised 45 minutes. I had the dog with me, and she sat next to me on the vinyl chair. When she got bored, we schmoozed with her public, then we practiced some dog obedience. Good thing I had some treats in my pocket. Kept her entertained. They still haven't fixed the door. It doesn't close all the way, so it let in the frigid air. I had hoped to pick up some wi-fi, but did not find a connection. Oh, and the place DIDN'T stink like rubber. When I asked for the $73 a piece tire, the sales person told me they weren't good for winter, even though they are listed as all weather on their own website. I tire I needed air in and not one person could say just a minute, hold on like get someone. Nothing. I had to leave on nov 30th after waiting 10 minutes to get air. It was very cold that day and I had no choice but to finish my drive with a tire low cause I wasted my time in a bay to be I ignored. I've been a customer for over 30 years with discount tire. My entire family has. I'm very disappointed that they went down hill as much as they did. I can't give my money to them anymore if they can't help put air in a tire I bought from them. I've used discount tire for years now, they to a good job, and I'll keep coming back for pricing and convenience. Price wise they are pretty decent compared to other area tire shops (including Costco). I've had multiple cars, from normal tires to run flats, and I know the price is competitive in all those segments. My 2 cents on buying tires from anywhere: Research the tire you want, as going cheap can get you a really bad result on your car, putting you at risk. Don't need to go all out and get most expensive, but don't get the cheapest either (did that once, the tread was garbage in the rain or snow, and they were Arizonian something or others that felt like I was going to slide off the road at highway turns). Rant aside, DT is a good place to get your tires balanced, rotated, replaced and/or patched. I find they can usually squeeze me in if I time it right (don't show up an hour before close, that's when they are swamped with latecomers). read more

I am more than a little disappointed in Discount Tires. First I had to wait over four weeks for their corporate office to approve our 501C3 Tax paperwork which never happened. Second, Billy finally gave me a $40 dollar discount to cover the fact that corporate never approved the tax paperwork - $40 dolors that I was probably already eligible for because of an in-store promotion. Finally, while I ordered Load Range E tires for my horse trailer, Discount tire gave me Load Range C tires without telling me. It was not until they were about to be installed that I found out they were technically the wrong tires. These tires are for a horse trailer and while the trailer is rated with a GVW of 7000 pounds and four Load Range E tires on duel axils at 80 psi would have supported over 11,000 pounds (for a 60% safety margin), the Load Range C tire on duel axels at 50 psi only support 7,480 pound (for a 0.5% safety margin). I may be working about nothing but the tires I replaced were original equipment tires and I suspect the trailer manufacture selected these tires for a reason. I had them install the tires more because I was worn out from dealing with them and with the belief that we will never likely load this trailer to the max GVW but that still does not make me happy. read more

Discount Tire has a business model centered around honesty. The pricing is comparable to Belle Tire, but with minimal upsells. The lobby is of similar comfort level to a doctor's office, with many chairs proximal to the front desk so that you can hear your name called from any side. I've never been turned away for a flat tire, no matter how late I've arrived. There is free bottled water while you wait. While I appreciate the attentiveness to each individual customer, the lines can get long. There is often only one employee at the counter, even when all bays are full. The counter is responsible for check in, check out, questions, and inspecting each customer's car. It would be nice to have two or even three counter people during peak hours. My most recent visit was fun. Front counter rep was mostly alone, but she was totally pro. The service bay was blaring Let It Go. Also, there was truly heart-stopping moment when one tech backed an SUV into another tech. The receiving tech yelled out, and the vehicle stopped the moment it made contact with his shoulder. The driver's cheeks turned bright red. Everyone just kinda went back to work, which was admirable. No, the driver wasn't Michael Scott. I was texted as soon as the work was completed. My tires were topped off, but all were at a slightly different PSI. The entire visit - including check in and check out - took 1 hour and 15 minutes (with an appointment). read more

They didn't have it in stock, so Rich quickly got on the phone and ordered a set, and made an appointment to have them installed a few days later. Outstanding service!!! I have been a customer at the discount tire on Carpenter in Ypsilanti for years but what Michael did for customer service last Thursday was unbelievable. Long story short I had a flat they fixed it but no one contacted me. No one called to discuss or explain the situation so my car was up there for a couple of days. Mike happened to notice that situation and called me after hours to let me know my vehicle was ready. He waited for me to arrive to give me my keys. At this point he exceeded all expectations of excellent customer service. I wasn't very happy when I arrived. Not one time did he raise his voice, have an attitude, argue or show disrespect.
