My nearly 10-year-old car looks fantastic. Not only did they do an excellent job on the repair, but they also detailed the inside of the car, a very pleasant and welcome surprise. I took my car for the first time to this place for two different accidents that happen on the same day. They took pictures of both hit areas. When I picked my car up my hood had dents of chips of missing paint that wasn't there when I dropped it off. Only had the car for a month. One of the places I was hit on right bumper the damage was still there. I went back to tell them. He said he forgot about that side of the car where it was hit. Took my car there a few weeks ago. My front bumper almost completely came off. Took it there since it was close to my house. I thought that the whole thing would have to be replaced...but they were able to reattach it and make it look like new. And it was under $100! This place is great! I had some damage to the side of my car from hitting a pole at a gas station. Quick estimate and they got me in a few weeks later. Amazing work, I am beyond happy! I hate being a customer of any body shop... but when I've needed service from anyone, these are the guys I go to. They do good work, they're friendly, and they're a preferred shop for my insurance, so the paperwork headaches are kept to a minimum. I have rental coverage for when my car's in the shop, and City Body shuttled me to Enterprise much more readily than Enterprise was able to. (And Enterprise even makes shuttle service their slogan.) Family-owned and in business since the Hoover administration. Clearly, they're doing something right. I have to take my car into them again today, dadgummit. I had a small dent in my front passenger side door that was preventing me from being able to open it all the way. There was also a bit of paint that was chipped as well. I went to City Body for the first time since it's nearby by my house and was so unbelievably pleased with the service. They gave me a very reasonable estimate for the fix since I told them I only wanted the door to be functional and didn't care much about the cosmetics. When I picked my car up the next day, the door was completely fixed AND they even painted a bit! I thought that was too kind and it just really meant a lot to me that they truly care about customer service and they're willing to go to the extra mile. ALSO, I'm pretty sure they cleaned my car. It was shiny and clean (definitely different from how I handed it over to them). They will happily be my go-to from now on. read more

I came to city body after someone backed into my car, crushing the drivers side door. They quickly got my information, scheduled a repair date, and one week later it was returned and cleaner then I ever saw it! The repair was quick and on time for what they quoted. The plus was how nicely, and unexpectedly, they cleaned out my car (which was slightly embarrassing because I forgot to clean out under my seats lol). Once again City Body comes through! Dealer diagnosed problem, said it would be at least $500, and couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't break my door panel fixing it. Also said couldn't fix door panel if they did break it. Took it to City Body, didn't break the panel and found out that the diagnosed problem, wasn't actually the problem, fixed it and had it back to us in less than 24 hours, and for about $400 less than dealer quote. Hope I don't have to get my car fixed any time soon, but if I do, I'll take it to City Body! read more

Called to get an estimate for inexpensive body work on my work van. Gentleman (owner?) looked at damage to front quarter panel, went into his back area, came out with some fluid, a cloth, and a long tool that looked to me like a pry bar. Within a minute, he had removed the yellow paint encountered when I got too close to a pole backing out of a parking space. He then worked his magic on the quarter panel "indentation" with his bar while I watched for oncoming traffic. He then announced that "That's about as good as it will get." I looked and was so surprised to see only dimples where a huge indentation existed minutes ago. I thanked him profusely for doing the work right there with no appointment, asked him what I owed him, and he said, "Nothing". I was amazed at his kindness and said at least I can give you a very positive write-up on Yelp and give you my future business. We shook hands and parted. read more

These guys are amazing! If it is possible to enjoy an annoying accident repair this place is the place to go. I have never been to a body shop that paid this much attention to the customer or took the care to detail the vehicle inside and out before it was returned to us!!!!! They replaced our bumper and as part of their service detailed our car!!! They were absolutely the most reasonable quote we received. And the body work was excellent, you cannot even tell the bumper was replaced. The car is 7 years old and they made a perfect match mixing paint for a plastic bumper. And then their customer service was amazing. I did not know this type of service existed any longer. I found out they do all kinds of vehicle repair and care work also. City Body is the place to go for your auto body needs. I have a '99 BMW 740i that I have maintained well, but I recently hit a deer and did damage to my front end. After being told by my insurance company that they did not want to cover the whole repair cost, I decided to spend my own money to repair the car. The results were fantastic. I decided to have the dings repaired that have accumulated over the years of having children around my vehicle, and the car was detailed. I needed an alignment from recent control arm replacement, and that was handled. The car looks almost new, better than when it went in for the repairs. Great job, City Body! Thank you! read more

I just got my car back from being fixed up at City Body and I'm so pleased with the work that they did. The estimate that they gave me was accurate and on par with what I expected after some internet research. They were good about explaining everything that they would do and what it would cost and they worked super quickly. The staff were friendly and helpful. When I picked up my car I was impressed that it had been washed and the inside had been cleaned -- not sure if this is typical but it was a great surprise for me! The repair looks great, and I never felt like I was being talked down to which I always worry about as a girl with a car. All in all a great experience! read more

I had a brake service performed. They had an advertised price in the window which was for "most" vehicles, depending on possible additional parts that may be needed. They quoted me a higher price and I assumed it was due to needed additional parts, also assuming they would treat me fairly and honor their advertised pricing. The price was only around $20 more so I figured it was probably OK. When I went to pay I asked what particular parts were needed that made my vehicle more expensive than the advertised price. The woman at the counter acted as if she had no idea about any advertisement until I physically pointed to the sign in the window. She then called in the mechanic to explain and he said they used higher end brake pads then what is advertised because "we find they work better". You don't say... the more expensive ones are better? Anyway, he then told me I could have gotten the other pads if I had asked for them, like I knew they would use anything other than what was advertised unless I asked! I asked why I wasn't given the option to choose which pads I wanted and he simply walked away and then the woman at the counter quickly rang me up and slid me the bill. I said I would pay it but that I would remember this next time I needed a mechanic. The error here is that they tried to act like they were not aware of their own adds, brushed off my question on why I was not included in deciding what parts I wanted to pay for, and to top it off they blamed me for not asking for the pads they advertised. They didn't even acknowledge there was at the very least miscommunication or a lack thereof, on their part. They gave me a simple that's the way it is so here is the bill. A small discount for the "misunderstanding" would have been good business practice, but all I really wanted was for someone to acknowledge they made a mistake by not asking me about the parts and using the high end ones, and give me a simple "I'm sorry for any misunderstanding". As this was all happening, several other employees who were standing by slipped away out of the room almost in embarrassment when I asked why I wasn't given an option on the parts if there was one to be had. One of the old guys ran out to get my car and bring it around. You could see it in his eyes, when he handed me the keys and tried to made small talk, that he felt badly about how things were handled... but he still didn't say sorry??? This is not the first poor experience I have had at City Body, but it will definitely be the last. It is too bad to lose a customer over refusal to simply apologize for any misunderstanding and instead blaming me for not telling them to honor their advertisement. read more

What great customer service! City Body has the feel of a small, family-owned business with great service and experienced mechanics. For someone who's had a lot of bad luck with my car (let's just say I became a frequent customer of their body repair department) I feel fortunate to have had such good experiences bringing my car here. If you live on the southeast side of Ypsi-Arbor, it's conveniently located in Depot Town where you could walk to a local restaurant while you wait for a minor repair or get picked up by Hertz 5 minutes away. City Body is an amazing auto body shop! Unfortunately, my van sliding door was damaged in a hit-and-run. My insurance company directed me to another auto body shop that was unable to complete the repair, which they said was due to the age of my van (Year 2003). I disagreed and pestered my insurance company until the company agreed to cover the repair of my car to its original condition. That is when I found City Body. I was just losing hope in finding a repair shop that could do the work when someone gave me a recommendation. City Body employees/owners are candid and provide excellent service. Moreover, my van didn't need the extensive repairs I thought would be involved. After a few minor adjustments, my sliding door was functional. The turnaround time was wonderful as well. I dropped my van off at the end of the work day on Saturday and received a call the following Tuesday that my van was repaired and ready for pick-up. I am absolutely elated! read more
